An overall comfortable and enjoyable stay. Room was small but well appointed and very clean. Bed and pillows great, slept well. This is a functioning hotel with live music and functions; there are noise reducing glass doors to separate the hotel rooms but you’ll still be aware of some noise. Check in was quick and easy. Very close to Ballarat railway station and restaurant strips.

Great historic pub lovingly restored with free hidden parking in the middle of the city with your room booking. Heritage bar and restaurant excellent for dinner as were the inventively clever redesigned accommodation rooms.

The building itself is lovely, the room was quite dark but that comes with old buildings. Staff were very friendly, and room service was good. Overall it was a lovely stay.

Room was great but reception was tops. We were booked in for 3 nights but we were there just before the Victorian May Covid outbreak. At check in the woman saw we were due to stay the 3 nights but quickly suggested we book for 1 night and see what happens. Good call…..the borders were closed to Melbourne and Bendigo residents the next day. Will we go back and finish what we were going to do? You bet.

Check in was a little manic (on my part) as it was a busy time (Sat night in Ballarat, people everywhere) but once in, room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Function we were attending at hotel, so ultra convenient.

The George Hotel was conveniently located, within easy walking distance from the train/coach station. The room was good - our room had a kitchenette, which was very handy. The staff were friendly and helpful, but not always there.
It was a bit strange initially to have frosted glass panels between the bedroom and ensuite. It would have been preferable to have solid wooden panels. The door between the bedroom and ensuite was a t times difficult to open.
The shower was wonderful, but the water seeped into the bedroom if the bathmat was not in place.
We ate at the restaurant a couple of times. The food was good.

Fantastic staff, great location, food and music within hotel. Great vibe!Only downside was frosted small windows so room felt dark and I like natural daylight but that is just a personal thing.

Great location and despite being above a nightclub... we hardly noticed. Room was updated and fresh and well appointed.
