Room ok, basic, only a hand held shower, couldn’t shower without soaking the room, and generally v old fashioned bathroom

I was cycling Lands End to John O'Groat and this was a fine hotel for that - very close to the National Cycling route, safe storage and battery charging facility, comfortable bed, lovely breakfast.

For clients arriving by foot from the train it’s a long slog up the hill. Also I don’t think there’s a lift.

Hotel was amazing and host\owner Tim was exceptional. Extremely comfortable room, bed was great, free breakfast had a lot.to.offer. great location walking distance to Hall.of Cornwall. Tim put every ounce of his extensive hospitality background into this.property and has done it well. i will be recommending the Hotel Vara to others and will definitely return when I come back to Cornwall.

We loved this hotel. While renovation of the entire property is ongoing, and we did turn down an upgrade to I suspect a newly renovated room, we found our Room #20 to be snug, quiet and comfortable.
Breakfast was delicious and provided sufficient variety with the option for cooked to order dishes. The breakfast space was lovely.
We had dinner in on our second night and thoroughly enjoyed sitting by the fire eating our delicious pizzas.

Lovely hotel. I had sudden trip to Truro to visit a family member in hospital and the staff were just…nice people. I particularly appreciated them being around to check me in even though I arrived on a late train.

Staff were lovely but the room wasn't as nice as the pictures. Only one towel and mug and the room was boiling as the radiator was on max. Also the pots set out for the jam at breakfast had what looked like tartar sauce in them.

Actually we were disappointed, we have been heavily overcharged for the services offered. (i) No shower arrangements only hair wash facility & bath, no soap/shower gel provided (ii) Bathroom was not suitable for family use, very limited space to put toiletries and hang towels (iii) the ceiling over the bath was too low, we banged our heads a couple of times coming out of the bath (iii) No hot breakfast provided (iv) same breakfast every day, main items cheese/salami slices, bread & croissants & cereals
The accommodation didn't worth £150/day, we should be compensated

Wonderful place to stay. The atmosphere was lovely, the room was spacious and breakfast was lovely. Also had pizza and drinks in their bar.

Room was clean, and free on-site parking is available. Not much choice on the menu, but Truro centre is only a few minutes walk away. Hosts and bar-staff were very friendly.

Great for meetings and mini conference, especially their meeting room for 6 people, long table, comfortable chairs and great lighting, plus great coffee.

The owners Tim & Hazel have done some great things with this hotel over the last couple of years and have a great 10 year plan to make it top notch. Their existing level of personal service is seldom experienced and I thoroughly recommend staying with them if the need arises.

I stayed here while my partner was in hospital in Truro. It felt like a real home away from home with wonderfully friendly staff. I stayed in a single room which was cozy and comfortable. The breakfast is really yummy with high quality ingredients. I would absolutely stay again.

A good location and an impressive house which has been skilfully and sympathetically converted to a hotel. Excellent and thoughtful service, accommodation very clean, comfortable and welcoming.

Quick check in after long drive to Cornwall so that was great. Room pleasant, had everything you’d like to have but not huge. Pretty clean. Shower cosy but functional. Hotel nicely situated for local amenities. Staff gave good service and were very pleasant and helpful.

Our room was clean but a little bit tired. It had a velux window which was too high to see out of and only opened a little way. I was quite hot in the night although it was October (there was a fan). Staff were all friendly and polite.

Very happy with my stay this weekend. Excellent service - friendly and personal. COVID measures had been thoughtfully implemented - which I found very reassuring. Quality of the breakfast was good. Not the newest fixtures and fittings but very clean and comfortable. Very convenient location for Truro City Centre.

Nice hotel and staff were extremely helpful. As evening meals are not served the hotel allows either take away or to prepare your own food and eat in their lounge or in your room. Breakfast is served and is very good and the rooms are very clean.

We only had breakfast once and it was ok.
Bed was comfortable just make sure you check your bathroom when booking, we didnt know we had to choose a bath or shower. We ended up with a bath.
Can be a little noisy in the morning with doors slamming but overall was a good place to stay.
