Hotel was well located in the city, plenty of shops and restaurants around, supermarket at the corner and the amphitheatre was just beside it too. Difficult on first entering to see where the reception desk is. Pleasant front desk staff but had to ask for city map. Room big enough and very comfortable bed. No view from window just other walls opposite with windows but overall that's not too important. For some parts design ruled over practicality - the hangers for clothes were quite high up so if you were 5' or under you would not reach. The same for the safe - too high. As for being able to reach the spare pillows etc no chance. Large sink but again things slid down the side into it. Shower design lead to floor flooding every time. The shower gel was extremely watery. The AC did not switch on but luckily were OK weather wise. The towels appeared to be changed everyday even though we hung them up to dry - did not see any mention of re-using them which we would have been happy to do. These were minor issues as the room overall was comfortable. Breakfast was good with plenty of hot and cold options. Lovely cappuccino made to order. The bar man made great caiprinhias. Water flavoured with fruit available at reception as well as a lovely selection of sweets.
Would stay here again.

Beautiful hotel, lovely staff especially in the bar/restaurant where you made to feel extremely welcome.
My room was at the front of the hotel. It was a shame that the Italian motoring enthusiasts were revving their cars outside the window, but don't let that stop you from using this excellent hotel

We booked 3 rooms at this property the night before our cruise, departing out of Trieste. It was the perfect solution! Great pricing, very walkable and convenient, so much to do in the area. The hotel was comforable (albiet rooms a little small, but very comfortable). The area around the hotel was wonderful and so many great restaurants. The staff was very helpful and stowed our luggage until our we left for the cruise port. They promptly arranged transportation for us to the port....yes it is walkable, but you really don't want to schlep your bags.....the taxi was quick, easy and inexpensive.
But the most impressive thing was the AMAZING breakfast. I have never seen a spread like the one that they put out. It was stunning.....one would expect to pay $25 for the breakfast alone...but to have it included was incredible.
Trieste is a beautiful area and we hope to travel there again.....when we do, we will absolutely book at the Modernist.

This is a wonderful hotel with the most helpful staff in Trieste. The room was large with a comfortable bed and the shower felt great after some travel. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. I highly recommend!

Hotel is in a very good location. Walking distance to the sea front and in the center of the old city. Bar and restaurant on the ground floor. So very noisy in the evening time if you stay on 1st floor. It was leaking under the shower door, so after shower, there would be quiet lots of water in the bathroom floor. No parking/ street parking around the hotel, there was private parking offered for 27 euro/ day. They will take the car key and park for you and bring the car back when you need it. Breakfast is only ok, not many choices.

Everything was within walking distance including the laundromat which we needed due to the travelling we had done prior to arriving at the hotel. Staff at reception were very helpful in all aspects. Dining recommendations, places to visit as tourists who were there for the first time.

Great stay, lovely hotel, very helpful staff, well placed for the City, the only very slight issue for us was that there was no available food or drink in the hotel? The restaurant for dinner and breakfast was in another location a small walk away making it a little inconvenient for a nightcap

Having been given the key to an occupied room, where I found myself face to face with an angry occupant, this made me a little uncomfortable about the hotel's security. I could also hear coughing from the other room throughout the night.Breakfast was not as expected for a hotel of this price.Overall disappointing I will not be staying there again
