Great find! Only a minute from the train and bus stations. Easy check-in. We had a triple room which was very spacious and not at all cramped. Comfortable bed. Nice soft large towels! Well stocked tea tray. Large bathroom with bath and shower. Breakfast included, freshly cooked with help yourself cold selection.

So glad I booked this hotel. Staff very friendly and efficient. Room was lovely and we had a sea view. The bed was very comfortable and the room/bathroom were warm even though the radiators weren't turned on. The hotel wasn't noisy but there were roadworks right outside our room but that was only an issue during the day. Good location with train station across the road plus a shopping centre with an amazing cinema.
Breakfast was good and we had a fabulous meal in the restaurant on our last night. We would definitely stay there again.
The only small gripe is that there were 3 plug sockets next to the single bed but none by the double.

The location of this hotel is perfect if you are interested in visiting the various museums at the historic dockyards. It is comfortable and the staff were helpful.
4.1
Ideal location for the dockyard and HMS Warrior and the Train.

The hotel old and cosy, but also warn out. The rooms are ok, beds fine, bathroom good. First night the cleaning was terrible, example cup was clean but undercup was not. Doesn't make sense to me.
When checked out I couldn't get a receipt even though in the reservation it is stated that the hotel will provide the receipt. I hope they will send me one.
Breakfast I tried once. Full English.... Ok had it differently else where.
Overall a stay with downs and a few up's.

Clean tidy and helpful staff

We had a great couple of nights in Portsmouth. We chose the Keppel due to its location. We were going to spend most of our time in the Naval Dockyards which was a 5 minute walk.
I can comment on lunch or dinner but breakfast was great, one of the best English breakfasts I've had in a hotel for a long time cooked to order.
When we come back to Portsmouth the we will hope to stay at the Keppel

Lovely hotel in excellent location. Close to train station and buses,Gunwharf Quays and local quayside restaurants.
Hotel facilities very good -lovely breakfast and staff friendly and helpful. excellent value for money.
Would certainly stay there again.
Thankyou for ensuring our stay in Portsmouth was a good one

Excellent location, opposite train station, comfy rooms and nice breakfast

I liked that it was a smaller historic building with a sense of elegance

lovely hotel, lovely staff.

A lovely hotel opposite the IOW ferry terminal, everything was excellent and the staff were very welcoming.

The service was really nice and friendly, room ok, lots of space, quite old building!
The food was amazing, we will definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family.

We have had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was clean, and comfortable beds. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked. Amazing location.

Very comfortable room with very large bathroom. Not much storage for two women for nearly a week but we managed. Bar area was dark and not very inviting, but all hotel was kept very clean. Excellent location for Gunwharf Quays, Dockyard and all transport links. Overall a good stay

staff were friendly and helpful. great restaurant, with sushi! fantastic location for ferry trip early next morning. The only negatives were it was noisy - there was a wedding going on and the music was loud, and the sound of the trains nearby was also v loud; and the carpet was quite stained. But great place to stay before catching the ferry and as the start of our holiday!

Nice hotel right next to the station and bus station. Great for the Historic Dockyard and Isle of White ferry.

This property has many mixed reviews but do not be afraid to stay here. It is in a very convenient location if you are traveling by train, our room was comfortable with good climate control, clean towels and bedding and a clean (if cozy) bathroom. The breakfast was fine and we enjoyed the bar and dinner in the evening. There was a very adequate English menu as well as wonderful Japanese cuisine. We were very impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the good service and the price. It is a very old building, but if you like history you will have a fine stay.

Nice small hotel near restaurants and pubs. WiFi was inconsistent and the shower curtain could have been cleaner. Would still recommend.

Given a room above kitchen. Fridge motor on and off all night. Kitchen fans under my room on noisily at 6.30 p m. Asked on check in if my room above kitchen, was told only 'it was at the back of the building'. I do not expect luxury suite as single traveller, but room has been a disappointing exsperience. Will not stay here again.

We weren’t fans.
As two friends travelling together the size of the ‘double bed’ was quite a shock (it’s quite small). We also gave up on washing hair due to very low water pressure.
For us the place just didn’t sit right.

early check in would be appreciated

Our twin bedded room was overall average. Wire coming in through the door was hanging off the wall. The carpet had many dirty marks on it. No soap provided in the bathroom wash basin. It overlooked the bus and train stations and neither of us slept a wink on our one night stay because of the noise outside all night long. Room 11. Food was average but all the staff were very pleasant.

They tried to charge me on my arrival - they didn’t know at the time that I had already paid in advance - disappointing

Perfect location for visiting Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyard, walk out of the train station and the hotel is just across the street. Ideal for a quick sighting trip to the okd town and the docks. Rooms were simple and clean.

We had a lovely stay. Beds could have been more comfortable. Room was clean and tidy. Bathroom the same. We had someone above us in the night sounded like they were doing exercises. About midnight until 1 oclock. You could here them moving around. Maybe a new floor needed.and also we went out for the day and came back about 9 at night and there was a key in are door that the cleaning staff had left in there. I told the lady on the desk in the morning and she did apologise and said was going to talk to the staff. The breakfast was excellent and plenty of it. A very nice restaurant rooms Hopefully we will stay again maybe on the top floor this time. My wife was on a walking stick and has trouble with stairs. We were on the first floor and after getting the lift we had to climb stairs up to are room. I didnt mention this when booking so it was no fault of the Hotel. But next tolime we will know to ask for the 3rd floor. You could not getter a better place for visiting the dockyard and other attractions. Overall it was a very pleasent stay.

3 friends in a triple room for 2 nights. Perfect location for weekend in Portsmouth. Over the road from Gunwharf Quay shops and restaurants plus Historic dockyard. Flat walk, about 40 mins, to pier and beach. Excellent friendly and helpful staff. Comfy bed with nice bedding and modern shower room with nice towels. Delicious fry up in the morning. Plus great addition of free parking (although not for large cars or nervous drivers!).

We loved everything about our stay but we were woken up on the second night due to excess snf horrendous noise and loud voices from above us.

The hotel is close to the shops at Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower. The staff are very friendly. The full English breakfast was very good. The en-suite bedroom was a good size and very clean.

I never ever post negative reviews. I just tend to not review bad experiences. But this place had such a high score and I cannot understand why. The single bed was basically a cot. Very uncomfortable. When I changed rooms it wasn’t much better. And third time it was a double but old. I won’t return. Staff was very nice though

This property was rated an 8.4 out of 10 on Expedia; this is gravely misrepresented. While at one point this property was quaint in it's day, it is not for normal traveler. I felt unsafe while staying at the property; the plumbing was an issue in my room; the beds and rooms need an upgrade (worst night of my trip). I pre-paid (with no refund) for my room - I ended up checking out after 1 night and lost my money. Also when I got at the hotel they made me pay again (double charged me) until I found my receipt to prove I pre-paid for the room already. The English breakfast was also not very good. Someone from Expedia needs to validate this rating of this Hotel! Bad Experience all around!

Very charming, historic hotel with very pleasant staff. Super convenient location, across the street from the bus station and train station, and only a couple minutes walk to the historic dockyards (our main destination). And quiet at night.

Everyone was friendly. The shower controls were confusing. I needed a hair dryer but there wasn’t one.

It was convenient for everything we wanted to see and do, didnt have to drive anywhere. Plenty of eating choices including the hotel.

Room was clean enough, on the small side, we were not in it much but the tv was very poor, could only get 2 channels to work, breakfast was good and friendly staff
