This is a perfect hotel for a short stay. Only problem was that taxi drivers had a hard time finding the address.

It’s not exactly near the station, they should consider a name change. However a clean and new property with enough space inside. Limited dining options close by.

The room was clean and check-in was smooth. Location is alright (about 15-20 minutes walk to Kyoto station). There were restaurants and convenience stores around. The room itself was quite small and had no space for opening big luggage.

We booked here for 4 nights in Kyoto for 6 people (2 in each room). Check-in was automated as the front desk was unmanned, but it was relatively easy. The area around the hotel is nice and quiet.
The rooms are slightly bigger than APA so we could open our luggages on the comfortably, which was a plus. The rooms are clean enough for Japan, but could have been done better. There was a room on the first floor where you could do laundry. In the same small room, there was even a water dispenser where you could fill up your water bottle for free and a microwave to heat up your food, although the microwave was broken during our entire stay.
The only major complaint that we had was that this small laundry/water dispenser/microwave room was right beside the smoking room, which stank so bad if the door was even slightly open. Please consider removing this smoking room and convert it to another amenity.
Check-out was also relatively seamless and you could even leave your luggage for a bit (at your own risk) with bicycle locks that are provided on the first floor.
Overall, the stay was pleasant and we would consider staying here again in Kyoto.

I checked in the hotel after 10pm and there is a staff receptionist assisting with the check in process. The only comment I have is that the check in machine requires a lot of writing/ typing which can be done pre- check in instead of at the counter. Room is clean and tidy.

Clean and quiet. Great staff but hard to get in to the property specially out of checking in times(at arrivals). I wont recommend if you are looking for a convenience, because it takes 10-15mins walk from Kyoto station and its not so obvious to find the way so it may take more time to get there. But 100% recommend if you looking for a quiet and cozy residential atmosphere.

The place is clean and comfortable, the staff is kind and helpful. The only thing to improve the service is to keep the bags after checkout (in place, not in the information center, as available).

M’s Inn Taruya opened just a few months ago so everything is new, clean, and modern. It’s slightly off the beaten path, in a quiet residential area (can get very dark at night but safe) so it takes quite a bit of walking and luggage dragging to get from and to the train station. Within walking distance to Kyoto Tower, Toji Temple, AEON Mall, and very close to Aquarium, Railway Museum. Room size is slightly more spacious than your average Japanese chain hotel room, but I would say the bathroom is typically small. They have electronic locks with key pads for the building entrance and each room. Each room has its AC/heater that you can adjust the settings to your liking. Very nice bedding & duvet. It’s a small simple inn for those who don’t need the luxuries like room service, room phone, closet, hotel breakfast, daily room cleaning, parking, etc. but there’s a laundry room & coin exchange machine on site. There’s usually only one staff at the tiny front desk, but sometimes you won’t be able to find anyone when they’re doing other duties and you’ll have to use the front their desk phone. Overall, we had a comfortable stay.
