Breakfast buffet part was poor

Staff very helpful and polite great parking right in town centre excellent stay

Room was absolutely fine for a 2 night business trip. Breakfast day one... service excellent and quick. Breakfast day two.... so slow.. 30mins for a pot of tea, 40 mins for the omelette. Different person each day - one who knew what she was doing, the other sadly didn't. Number of customers the same each day.

We had another lovely stay at The Lion and Swan. Decor in the bars and restaurants is modern, beautiful room in the annexe with all facilities including very nice toiletries. Fresh milk and chilled water in the room fridge and a coffee machine with plenty of pods. 3 different kinds of tea and biscuits. Breakfast was wonderful, lots of choices, all very fresh and hot. All staff extremely helpful and friendly. Would recommend and would return.

I was rear ended on the M6 by another car. I RANG the hotel to explain I ws going to spend the night in hospital and would not make it reund would be nice but nowr was forthcoming

Cannot fault my stay at the Lion & Swan! Friendly and welcoming staff and room was excellent!

We arrived in the evening. The staff were very pleasant and we had a lovely meal in the adjoining restaurant. However, we paid for a late check-out and were told we could have the room until 2pm. We confirmed the 2pm check-out at reception. But at midday, two members of staff came into the room while my wife was in bed talking to an important client and demanded we leave immediately. There had clearly been a mix-up when we were told 2pm, which is fine. These thing happen. What we didn’t appreciate was how it was handled by the two members of staff who came to our room. They demanded we leave like we were vagrants on a park bench. It’s a shame, because we’d had a lovely stay and had planned to visit the hotel for what are regular visits to Congleton.

Enjoyable stay, lovely comfortable room, good facilities and nice touch with an in room mini fridge with fresh milk for tea & coffee. Great bathroom with a big shower! Bit of a hike to my room so negotiating stairs and carrying bags was a challenge. Free parking, but no spaces when I arrived which was a nuisance as I had to move my car a few times. I ate in the restaurant, great food and excellent service, really looked after me. Breakfast was included in room cost but unfortunately I had to leave before it was served. Being a lone traveller I felt safe and comfortable at all times during my stay.

Nothing to fault. Bright, modern with a nod to the buildings history throughout. Big comfy bed, excellent WiFi. Friendly staff & the room itself was immaculate with a good quality mattress & premium toiletries. Free parking, middle of town, couldn't recommend more

Everything was fantastic

First time guest. Traveled and stayed on business. Beautifully cooked breakfast, I would add that fruit, cereals a bit limited on choice. Staff excellent. Overall highly recommended,

Very nice if compact room. Nice decor, really comfy bed, did not want to get out of it! Shame the room was in the annexe off the car park which we did not expect. Quite cool for the end of May and we could not get the heated towel rail to work so we could not dry towels off. We would have reported if we staying more than one night. Fresh milk great and coffee machine and little chocolates a nice touch but think there was too much milk for one night and is wasteful. Prefer a bath than a walk.in.shower and got very wet everywhere! Needed a chair to sit onin the room. Food a bit over priced especially as we were given the wrong priced menu! Overall a nice stay for overnight but would not have liked to be in the annexe for a week. Breakfast good veggie choice, breakfast waiter nice.

Perfect stay at this beautiful hotel. The decor and level of cleanliness were first class. The food was definitely worth returning for...and we will! However, the service we received from the staff team was what we loved the best: in particular, the lady who checked us in was fantastic and a real asset in her role. Can't wait to return for another relaxing stay.

Comfy well presented old world Hotel. Room was nicely decorated but a bit small. Bathroom was smart but the walk in shower managed to cover the whole of the floor in water so had to use one of the towels to mop it up.

An enthusiastic welcome on our arrival and we were quickly given directions to our room. The room was spacious and nicely decorated with dormer windows. There was a coffee machine and fridge which contained fresh milk, which was a nice touch. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but did have breakfast which was of good quality. We did have a drink in the bar, which was rather expensive and called last orders at 9.30! It was raining overnight and this was very loud in our room (maybe because of the windows?) However, overall it was a pleasant one night stay and I would stay there again.

Room was gorgeous. Staff were so helpful and friendly, happy to help with everything such as ordering a taxi for me to attend an event. Breakfast was delicious - nice variety of foods out with the option of ordering other foods.

Nice place, great room. Might go back if passing that way.

Amazing hotel with real attention to detail at really good prices!

One night stay mid week while working in the area. Very nice rooms, comfy bed, Nespresso coffee machine, internet ok speeds, large car park. Could hear the music from the bar in my room till about 11pm so not too bad, but a little annoying.

Nice room and well presented we had velux windows and therefore couldn’t see outside. We were in room 1 right by stairs so there is more noise with people coming up the stairs. In terms of service every member of staff was doing 2 or 3 jobs everytime we saw them, they were all trying very hard but there really wasn’t enough of them to man all ovations as necessary from reception to bar to restaurant we were served by same person.

Comfortable room, and a really good breakfast.

We love Pecks restaurant and dine there annually at Christmas. It’s great that the swan & lion arrange transport to and from the restaurant. The rooms are cosy and well equipped, the walk in shower is huge! Breakfast is plentiful but a little slow and rather over cooked! Staff are very attentative and we skesus enjoy our stay.

Enjoyed our stay, however, we found a room very cold on the first night as the heater was behind the curtains, but moved curtains on the second night so the room was much more pleasant. Breakfast on our first day wasn't great. We ordered and then 45 mins later asked how much longer we would have to wait, the waitress looked mortified, and obviously thought that we had already had it! other than that, very nice.

Rolled the dice with this stay ,, didn't know the area. It was a great hotel, staff, food, room, parking, location all fabulous. Barman was very helpful. Do it !!
