4 & half stars - not quite 5* as requested a couple of things that weren’t resolved (large duvet as opposed to 2 singles on a king bed & bathroom drain smell) Otherwise, staff very friendly and room on 5th floor perfect for our stay in Budapest. Would stay again if back in the city :-) Plenty of places for dinner around the area and easy to get to from the airport and train station.

Liked the period hallway but some of the room staff let things down, though overall we did like the hotel. Bed comfortable etc. We were bitton by bugs, it does not seem bed ones, resulting in one of us seeking doctor consultation. Mossies?

The location is good because there is an underground station and a tram stop nearby. There are many cafes, restaurants and bars within walking distance.

Wonderful breakfast and perfect location for transportation to all major sights.

Ideally placed for a stay in Budapest, we walked everywhere, but it’s close to tram links and a very busy street with lots of food outlets.

This was a very nice hotel. Very beautiful architecture. We needed an extra room during our stay and the front desk staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Although this hotel was not in the actual city center, it was right by a metro stop and very convenient. Just 2 stops away. You could comfortably walk to city center but it was 93 degrees when we were there so we utilized public transportation. Breakfast was nice. It cost us $18/person at the time. The room was VERY clean and it was nice to make a Nespresso in your room. Plenty of restaurants nearby. The rooms can be small, depending upon what you book. My family would definitely stay here again.

We saw this hotel on line. And thought we wanted an authentic hotel. The Octagone did not fail. It was gorgeous and the updating. If recommend the Octagon to all. The service was great and breakfast was too. The staff at the restaurant were wonderful. I can go on about this hotel. But a visit will tell all. It is in a convenient location too

Very convenient location with multiple modes of public transportation within walking distance and right outside the hotel. On one of the main streets for shopping and also very close to multiple tourist areas. Breakfast is much cheaper if you book through Expedia and included in the room rate. Breakfast options were excellent and a time saver in the morning instead of looking outside.

Second stay at Oktogon, it’s great. Rooms are cozy but beautiful and we love the Nespresso machines!

Incredible property. If you think you’re in a palace you are!!! The history is so interesting and renovation are on point. The staff is very professional and more than accommodating. We have been to Budapest and stayed at other hotels and this one beats them all. Breakfast buffet lacks no options and is fully serviced by very friendly and appropriate staff . We highly recommend

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel has a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive and were very knowledgeable about the city and what it had to offer. The room was a good size although the bathroom was a little on the small side both were well kept and the air conditioning worked perfectly.

This was one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. It was just beautiful and the staff was helpful. The bottle of wine was a very nice touch! I am not certain if all guests receive this or maybe it’s because I am a Platinum member on Expedia. If it’s the latter, it’s nice to finally earn something for the Platinum status because no other hotel ever gave me anything free! The breakfast was great and the champagne at breakfast was a nice touch! That too is something I’ve never seen a hotel provide so it’s yet another thing about this hotel that made me think that it was better than other places I’ve stayed at. The location of the hotel is so perfect too. It was brutally hot in Budapest during the week I was there but the hotel is so centrally located that I was able to take a break if needed and head back to the hotel to cool off for awhile. Budapest as a city is severely lacking in air conditioning but the hotel room temperature was perfect. All told, if and when I return to Budapest, my first choice for a stay would be at the Hotel Oktogon.

Excellent little gem, as you enter the surroundings take you back in time, such a relaxing atmosphere. Staff are courteous and eager to assist to ensure your stay is a pleasant one.
