The stadf was excellent.
Need to be a bit more clear on how secluded the location is.

the staff was amazing! they tried hard to make you feel unless comfortable!!
there is no kitchen for using. It's a beautiful location, but more could be made of it! I was super sad when I had to leave the hostel!

the location is beautiful and the place has a lot of potential and could be really special, its just not quite there yet. the volunteers were all super lovely and the fact that they have a turtle hatchery onsite that runs in the most ethical way possible is great!! best sunsets weve seen and the stars are incredible because the place is so remote. it can also be super peaceful having a large beach all to yourself
lots of cockroaches in our room, dirty toilets, a crazy amount of flies when trying to eat(enough to drive you mad!! and no attempt to do anything about them), very expensive but basic food, felt quite unorganised with their activities, everything seems very old and falling apart. we didnt like the fact that they use the horses so much to haul people and other things around. no real sense of atmosphere with 2 sets of speakers playing different music close to each other

Amazing location! The fact that you arrive by horse and cart says it all.
Nice surf beach in front of the accommodation to either side. Huge expansive beach break with no one else, not the most consistent waves but all to yourself!
Volleyball at 5pm ish each night is great fun and good way to get to know other guests.
We were lucky enough to see baby turtles being released. That's luck of the draw with timing as with all nature, so can never be guaranteed. But just come, enjoy the beautiful place and maybe you'll get extra lucky, if not it's an amazing place anyway.

The area was lovely and the staff were amazing! The food on offer was brilliant too. The room was clean.
The room could do with a little updating.

- Dirty Room
- Bathrooms dirty and without light and no good showers
- No proper introduction of staff to the place
- Food from Restaurant was rather expensive because there is nothing else around but was not that great

When we booked the place, we didn't know that it was an island, it wasn't advertised anywhere so we were expecting to get there by car, and then surprise we had to take a boat and then a 10 minutes walk.
Not a complain, more like a feedback, so you can add that information on the website.

The location is amazing, right on the beach beside their turtle hatchery.
Due to the remoteness of the place it does take a while to get there (boat ride + walk/horse ride). But this does add to the charm of the place.

Fun & friendly hostel environment.
Food was limited, but that is to be expected on an island.

the property was located right beside the beach! it was just what we needed after 3 weeks of travelling. we were only meant to stay for 2 nights but stayed for 3 in the end. we met the 2 owners and their daughter and they were so nice. the staff would do anything for you and it was great getting a fresh coconut cut down everyday for a refreshing drink! would 100% recommend

Great location. Very remote. perfect if you are trying to escape the world. Lots of chill out areas to find some quiet time. The horse and cart transport really adds to the experience. We had an upstairs room in the main house, which got a beautiful sea breeze.
I thought the food was a bit average. Be aware of this as it is abit of a trek to find alternative food and there is not an area for preparing your own food on site. I also found the hours abit frustrating, starting breakfast at 8 is abit to late for me. The rental surf boards are alright for beginners, but otherwise try rent a board in las penitas.

It was quiet
No useable kitchen

The staff were great and organised us the tour for the turtle nursery. note that they are no longer at the eco lodge. The rooms were clean, we had the whole beach to ourselves and were able to rent surf boards. The man on the horse to pick us up was really friendly, save on the boat and tip him well!
To get to the location you may need to take the lancha. However, when the water is low I would advise to walk to avoid the boys operating it ripping you off

Localisation
the place needs to be refreshed, we saw a lot of rats or bats every morning ?, the staff was not very friendly, they only showed us the room, during the whole stay they did not even show the surroundings. Food ok, but portions small for $ 10 for dinner (inadequate for the price, but we had no choice, there are no shops here and the kitchen is not available). Two ladies at the reception are more busy with the phone and themselves than with tourists .. we found out about the attractions around the hostel from the sign in the toilet

Amazing time at Surf Turtle Lodge. What a week! Prepare to be just in front of the beach while relaxing in your bangalow. We stayed a week here and it was marvelous. The bangalow is simple, beds are ok and private bathroom is good. You will be awaken by the sounds of the waves and looking the tress moving. It's really experience itself just to lay down on the hanmock and read a book while enjoying the warm weather.
The staff is super mega friendly! They will make everything to please you. Thanks a lot for making our time great.
The food is also delicious. I had almost everything from the menu and thanked the cookers every time for the amazing meal. The prices are also ok, ranging from 3 - 10 dollars. As there no restaurants or markets around, you will have to eat here. You can also bring some groceries along or whatever you want. Beer is cheap so don't worry about that. You will have plenty of Toñas here (national brand)!
And I could not forget to write about the sunset. Wow. Every day it goes down at 5:15pm and it is spetacular! Don't miss it.
To get here, you'll have to get a boat ($1) and a carriage (ask to go catch you).
For me it was not a problem, but there are bets on the roof of the bangalow. They won't do anything to you, but they keep making noises all night long. They said they would get rid of them later.

I love that this place is far away from everything. It's such a beautiful place to disconnect and the staff is amazing! 10/10
Nothing. I would just note that you'll have to take a boat to get here and walk a bit by the beach or there's a horse that you can take since it's a bit of a walk after the boat. During low tide, you can walk it for bout 20-30mins.

Amazing place to stay for relaxation, to have a swim in the sea and see amazing sunsets. Food is good too.
Not much explanation/information regrading turtle hatching or sufing lessons.

The Surfing Turtle Lodge has so much potential. The location is secluded enough to feel like a remote get away, but a quick boat ride back to Poneloya. The dorm room has a balcony overlooking the ocean and you can hear the ocean when going to sleep. There is a beautiful yoga deck with hammocks right on the ocean also. All the food was really decicious.
The property is filthy. I don't know if this is a covid thing and since there aren't many people staying (I was the only one there in an 18 bed dorm, besides a couple in a private cabin) but the place is disgusting. You can hear mice/rats in the ceilings and there is poop/droppings EVERYWHERE. In the bedrooms, in the communal hangout area, the reception, on the stairs etc.. They sweep once a day but within a few hours the place is covered again. In addition, the bathrooms were really grimy and dirty. They were cleaned after one day of me being there, but upon arrival I was actually nauseated to brush my teeth in the sink. There are no fans in the dorm bedroom so gets quite hot at night. I cant imagine what it would be like with 17 more people. The staff were super friendly, but as the kitchen closes early at 6/7, after that everyone leaves except the night-watch guy. Again, maybe its a covid thing but it is quite bizarre to be left totally alone on the property at night. There are no plugs inside the dorm, but 2 sockets outside on the balcony so charging your stuff is a bit of a pain.
