Located in the nicest and least commercialised part of the island and had a very chilled and low-key atmosphere. If I visited Koh Chang again I would definitely stay here. Good value.

The bathrooms needed renovating - one bathroom was always flooded as it was both a toilet and a shower room and the water from showers did not drain well.

Hele layed back atmosfeer, Tommy en Mameaw zijn zeer uitnodigende en sociale hosts. Het strand Klong Koi is enkele minuten wandelen en het vissersdorp Bang Bao een halfuur verder. Een beetje meer afgelegen van de toeristische kant van Koh Chang met een relaxte sfeer. Kerstavond en -dag werden gevierd met een lekker BBQ!

Das Ressort ist einfach mal Mega. Die beiden Chefs sind Mega lustig, mega freundlich… er herrscht eine mega familiäre Atmosphäre. Wir haben sehr viel miteinander unternommen und haben sehr viel gelacht. Der Bungalow ist groß gewesen, das Essen am Abend Mega lecker. Ich kann es zu 100 % empfehlen.

Everything about my stay is and has been 100% perfect. The vibe of the place is EXCEPTIONAL, the owners Tommy and Ma Meow are sooooo gracious, welcoming, and friendly. My little Bungalow that has a small veranda, with a comfy double mattress, covered by a Mosquito net, with toilet and shower was totally adequate for me. Looking out from the veranda my view was of untouched vegetation. forest and numerous plants. Waking up to the sound of birds, sometimes small monkeys clambering over some of the rooftops back into the forest suits me just fine. The travellers who stay here are mainly people who are on a trip through Asia and beyond, so is ideal for them and myself. Ma Meow frequently cooks delicious evening meals, which can be reserved 24 hrs earlier, definitely something not to be missed. The bar area is also a place to just walk up and start chatting to other travellers. Should you want to book onward transport via minivan or private taxi or a boat trip, these are all available at good prices, or if you want to know some local info just ask Tommy or Ma Meow. If you want a place to stay that is chilled and relaxing, within easy reach of the very small local areas cafe and places to eat and less than 10 min to the beach and which most certainly does not break the bank, Freedom Home is THE place. Bewertung: Die Unterkunft wirkt frei gestaltet, aber dennoch aufgeräumt. Wir wurden herzlich von der Besitzerin empfangen. Obwohl wir eigentlich verlängern wollten, entschieden wir uns aufgrund der Regeln, nur die gebuchten 2 Tage dort zu bleiben. Die Zimmer sind einfach, aber ausreichend. Die Anbindung zum Strand ist großartig. Ein Pluspunkt ist, dass uns für den letzten Morgen kein Aufpreis für heißes Wasser berechnet wurde. Trotz allem würde ich diese Unterkunft weiterempfehlen, da sie ein Ort ist, an dem viele Stammgäste wiederkommen. Es gibt Regeln, die wahrscheinlich aufgrund von schlechten Erfahrungen aufgestellt wurden. Man darf kein Bier von außerhalb mitbringen, sondern muss es vor Ort zu einem doppelten Preis kaufen, verglichen mit dem Preis im Seven Eleven. Heißes Wasser kostet zusätzlich 20 Baht. Where do I even start? Freedom home is the best place I have stayed during my trip! Tommy and Mameaw are excellent hosts and I felt comfortable and relaxed as soon as I arrived. The location is amazing, right by the beach but in the jungle, and has everything you need (including the best hammock spot and amazing food if you are lucky enough to try it!) I will go home with the best memories and some new friends for life. I cant wait to visit again one day. Thank you Tommy and Mameaw for making me feel so at home!

We spent 8 days at Freedom Home and absolutely loved it. The owners are lovely and generous. We also met some amazing people and spent a lot of time relaxing in the hammocks! Could have stayed much longer.

Dogs barking all the time, especially in the morning at 6am, right by your bungalow. Smoke coming to your room because of leaves and branches burnt right next to your room, you suffocate in there.

What can I say?! We had the most amazing 2 weeks here at freedom home. We booked in for 2 nights, and after the first night extended to 2 weeks. I'll list as much as I can below, but TL:DR - just book here!! Tommy and Mameaw are incredible hosts, so much fun, welcoming, warm and always there to help with any questions. The place itself is gorgeous, a lot of work has gone into this place. The garden is large with several places to hang out and relax, including a large area with hammocks and a cold pool to dip into to cool down. There are always lovely, interesting people coming to stay, and on several days and nights we did things together as a group, which really made the time there special. Here you serve yourself your own drinks, coffee in the morning etc, and if you're lucky you might just get to eat some of Mameaw's amazing food (they don't serve food from a menu daily, but from time to time they will make guests food and it's incredible - by far the best Massaman curry me and my partner have ever had - twice!). The rooms are comfortable, with fans, nice firm mattresses and mosquito nets over the beds. So long as you're ok with the odd gecko joining you in the room (they very much keep themselves to themselves!) you'll be fine and happy here. And even if not, the 2 dogs, Sabai and Kong Louis are on hand to check your room as you check in and take care of any unwanted gecko activity!! These 2 dogs are wonderful, they guard the place and look after everyone so well. There are monkeys in the surrounding jungle, but Sabai and Louis make sure that they stay well clear of the accommodation (though you'll sometimes get to watch them in the jungle which is great!). It is located a 3 or 4 minute walk to the beach, with many restaurants, bars and shops in the area, meaning if you wanted to just stay here and relax you have everything you need to hand.

It was an amazing Vibe at Freedom home we fell in Love with the small Village full of cool people. The Beach is one of the most beatyfull on Koh Chang and you can reach a lot of nice Bars and Restaurants by foot.

great location just 5' from the beach. We stayed in the double rooms and they were very clean and comfortable.

great place to unwind. the owners are incredibly nice and came up with fun initiatives for the guests this weekend. such as a trip around the island or a cozy BBQ in the excellent garden of freedom home. the accommodations are very basic, but actually exactly the experience you want in the middle of the jungle. 5 minutes walk to the beach and there are many nice cafes that have not yet been completely flooded by tourism and therefore retain their perfect value. definitely come here if you want to relax, but also if you are not averse to socializing and what may come with it. for me this was a weekend to escape from the rush of Bangkok but could have stayed here for a few more weeks. very nice environment, owners are great. the garden is beautiful, room is very clean and comfortable. the area is the best in the island in our opinion, it’s quiet and you have places to go to have breakfast or lunch/dinner. the hostal itself. we had a nice stay

you can hear everything because there aren’t big walls. and rooms are next to each other. you can hear people talking next to you, for us wasn’t a big problem because they were quiet after a while. but is good to know

Place to chill, laid-back atmosphere in a very relaxed beach area of Koh Chang. Place is made that people can hang around together. Basic but good bungalows. No hard matress and pillow:) 5 minutes walk to the beach.

Mae Meaw & Tommy are super friendly hosts, their two dogs are as well. The place is basic, but perfect if you are looking for a quit place outside of the tourist hotspots. Green Garden, with a lot of colorful butterflys. Close to the beach and the jungle. Really felt like home.

Very social hosts, the resident dogs (Louis and Sabai are so cute!), a fantastic outdoor common area with Thai antiques throughout, and clean rooms. This guesthouse is located in the jungle part of Klong Kloi, but the beach is less than a five-minute walk away. An excellent breakfast spot and pizza place is a 2-3 minutes walk away.

That I had to leave. Seriously though, if you're not a fan of harder mattresses or you need A/C (fans are available, but I didn't need them, as the sea breeze at night were enough for me), this place might not be for you. But if you're looking for a budget place on the best beach in Koh Chang, this place is a gem!

The place is beautiful. The staff is super nice and hepful! The huts are clean and mosquito nets are provided. The bathrooms are clean as well. The vibe of the place is nice with all the little chairs and hammocs. There is also a swimming pool and some nice places to eat around. The beach is also beautiful !!

They don't have a water bottle refiller.

We loved the atmosphere and the vibe! We arrived and felt very welcomed; more like guests rather than customers! The common chilling area is setup with heart and everyone will find a corner that he or she likes! the room itself is clean, spacious and practical! Highlight of our stay was the two nights sitting on the “table of knowledge”. If you are looking for a place to interact with cool people; this is it!

My favorite stay in Thailand by far! Had a wonderful time at freedom home, Mameaw and Tommy were super kind and welcoming hosts and really created a space that makes you feel at home. Stayed a week instead of 2 nights and would have loved to stay even longer! Great location very close to the beach and an awesome outdoor space with lots of hanging mats, very comfortable seats and pretty lights which make it perfect place to hang out. Hope to come back to this place someday :)

Amazing place and people. Made to feel right at home and perfectly positioned for Klong Kloi beach and beach bars/food places. Laid back hippy feel to place and happy atmosphere. Can't thank Tommy and Ma Meaw enough. They've definitely got something special with Freedom Home. As with others on here I extended my stay from 3-5 nights and hope to return again in the future.
