Nice place in the center of the town, dog friendly, our dog was welcome in the hotel and in the restaurant

A fabulous small boutique hotel in a great central location for visiting major sights in Lyon. Hotel was clean , welcoming and tasteful . It is an " on demand " hotel as the staff put it so if you want water or kettle you have to request them and go and get them from reception. No frills or extras in the room , no slippers , dressing gown or fridge nor did we have a mirror in the room only one head and shoulders standard mirror in the bathroom which was a minor irritation. Room was large, with comfortable beds . We had 2 singles as I was travelling with my daughter. We had a great view of the river and full length windows that opened fully which was a bonus, made the room light and airy . I can't comment on breakfast as we didn't have it, plenty of boulangerie within 2 minutes walk. If you want authentic restaurants keep away from The old town as it is very touristy and not representative of the fabulous restaurants available in Lyon
All in all a great hotel for a short break . Request a river view it's definitely worth the extra cost . I will most certainly stay here again on my next visit as I have a daughter in Lyon for a year.

My request for 2 twin beds was ignored. I booked a stay for 3 nights at $127 per night. Instead I was charged triple that amount.
Internet and WiFi service were poor, therefore doing business was impossible.
No tub mat in bathtub--I almost fell down due to the slipperiness of the bathtub. I had to stand on a table to open the air conditioning vents. Had to be instructed on how to operate lights in the room.
I would not recommend the Hotel Phenix to my worst enemy!

Cute hotel along the river. Much food nearby, easy walk to Old Lyon. Easy bus trip to Lyon Part Deux train station and 5 minute walk to metro at Hotel de Ville.

This was a perfect choice for my visit to Lyon. Walkable and close to everything I wanted to see as well as to two excellent restaurant areas. Staff friendly and helpful. The room is typical for Europe- a few oddities and small-ish but comfortable with good AC. Excellent breakfast. In my opinion this was excellent value- less than 300 euros for two nights and two breakfasts. I’ve paid more for a Holiday Inn in North America (with nothing walkable and a view of a Costco). Would recommend!

Excellent staff, the reception upgraded my room to a larger room and able to retrieve my earring when I forgot about it when I checked out early. Love the location as it super close to both downtown and old town. And the river is super close to the hotel!

I had a great stay at Le Phenix! The room was surprisingly big for a single room and the bed was super comfortable. It was very clean too. The staff at reception were so lovely! The only slight downside was that there was a fair bit of noise in the mornings with people outside going about their day but it really wasn't too bad. I would definitely stay here again!

This is a lovely place to stay. It is located in a good place to explore both Vieux Lyon and the newer city by foot. It's easily accessible by public transit. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, and the room was cozy and clean.

It was conveniently located in the old town where I spent most while in Lyon. The ground floor communal space was pleasantly decorated, and I was offered a family room with a single booking.

Great location! The hotel and our room were very clean. Our room had a jet tub but it didn’t work. Also the windows were fantastic with a view of the Saone River but the there are lights right outside the windows that shine brightly at night right into the room. Without the blackout curtains it would’ve been tough to sleep in a bright room.

The hotel also had great food options.
Highly recommend and will definitely stay here again.

We were so very pleasantly surprised by this property! We chose it for the location and the price but the pictures online seemed to look a bit basic but it was so lovely. The hotel was clean, quaint, and more high end than expected. Sure the rooms amenities were basic, but the room itself was very clean and extremely comfortable.
The hotel was walking distance to everything we planned to see, and the quality of the restaurants close by were plentiful, wonderfully varied, with first rate food.
The very best thing about Le Phénix Hotel was by far the incredible staff! We had interactions with about five staff over three days and every single one was extremely friendly, kind, helpful, and genuinely happy to help! If all hotels had the quality of staff Le Phénix Hotel does everyone would travel as it was 5-Star service from beginning to end. When we return to Lyon, and we will because it’s a world class city, we won’t bother looking for a hotel because this one is home!

The view was spectacular (river view is worth it), bed was comfortable, staff was incredibly helpful. Other than the a/c not working, which was only mildly inconvenient, we loved it here. Would definitely return.

The front desk staff was very helpful. The location is convenient, especially since there is a bus stop in front of the hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of several major sites and the metro lines.
