Nice hotel. Parking ridiculous! After paying motel costs, you get 3 pound off a 6 pound overnight charge. Ross in the gym did not want to be there! Good food and environment.

Hotel was lovely. Nice ambiance when you entered and it smelled beautiful. Checkin was flawless. Breakfast was delicious and hot. Rooms were immaculately clean. Perfect stay. My only negative is we were not told on check in you had to book for leisure side which fortunately we were there for 2 nights and managed to get booked for 2nd day. And you had to pay for parking which was strange for a guest staying in hotel
1.5
Nice public area
Rooms are very dated
What I didn’t like was the charge for parking
The hotel is 4 miles from the centre of Aberdeen

It was a nice room. Bathroom was a good size, nice light from the windows and the bed was large too. My only negative is that it was quite a hard bed and I get quite a sore back from hard beds so was in a bit of pain in the morning (fyi I’m under the age of 40 😂). Great size room though.

Hotel rooms are tired, carpets, furniyure etc need replacing.

All a bit chaotic.
Rooms not well equipped, missing several basics that I consider a bare minimum for a hotel. No kettle, no flannels, no water.
Kitchen closed early, food was barely average.
Staff were lovely though.

Food in the restaurant was good and not too expensive. Delicious breakfast. The pool was a little too small to swim in with the water babies class going on. Disappointed to have to pay for parking. Overall a nice stay.

Just home from a two day stay at this hotel. Overall our stay was nice. There were some really good points and some annoying points. I will start with the good:
- The young guy and the young girl manning the pool were really nice and friendly and very accommodating helping us book the pool times.
- The room was really nice and big and clean.
- The breakfast was tasty and the restaurant was nice.
The bad points:
- You have to pay to park at the hotel which I found to be ludacris since we travelled there and had to park there. Even though it was only £3 per night with the half price token, I have never had to pay to park at a hotel before when I’ve been staying there.
- One of the breakfast staff was rude when we asked if there were any more pancakes. She promptly responded by saying, ‘I don’t know you will have to ask one of my colleagues’ then walked away. However the other man working the breakfast area seemed to be running around doing everything and he was really friendly.
- There was a wedding on at the venue and there was so much noise through the night with people speaking loud and running through the corridors. It was not peaceful at all that night.
Overall I did enjoy the stay and would come back.

Nice hotel but poor customer service

Fabulous hotel. Staff were extremely polite, attentive and friendly. The whole hotel was spotless. Very comfortable bed. Spacious room which was well equipped with hairdryer, iron, ironing board, tea and coffee making facilities and even a fan. Leisure facilities fantastic. We were here for a wedding and function rooms were lovely. Food at the event was delicious and breakfast was great too. No complaints. Highly recommend.
1.5
All good apart from poor quality drinks in the function hall and staff that did not care too much about drinks. Drinks in lounge came in nice glasses and branded glasses but in the hall it was any glass available and flat lager

Good hotel with warm swimming pool and steam/sauna. However you have to pay parking £3/night. I booked 2 rooms and receptionist could not find one of the room due to different guess name for each room. Room with two double beds but the bed size are a bit small. Heating control knobs broken and receptionist won't help. There are great recliner chairs and coffee pod machine in room which is a plus point. Breakfast was terrible as food is not warm/ limited and no coffee machine. You also need to ask to get cook fried eggs but no one tells you that.

Great entrance good welcome at the reception room spacious nice big bed great there is a fan in the room!
Thought the room could have been cleaner IE carpet and thick dust on bathroom door
Food was very disappointing nothing like when we visited late last year reheated chips club sandwich was very poor bacon was reheated like rubber breakfast was ok but not the way it was.

A very large hotel with pool and gym facilities on the southern edge of Aberdeen. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable and pool was small but clean. I did not use the bar or restaurant. The area around the hotel is uninteresting so a car is advisable. Staff helpful.

Altens Hotel in Aberdeen is now our new Family Fav. Their breakfast buffet (additional cost) is one of the better ones. Staff are fairly young but still kind. They have a separate very small kids pool which was a plus for the little one. Pool room can feel very congested and loud when busy as to be expected. Some things in the room can be updated where you can obviously see wear and tear. If Altens would love to give me an awesome discount my family would be their weekly!

Enjoyed our night away

It was very busy but we got pretty good service and breakfast was really good. Rooms were very comfortable. Parking however was a nightmare. The car park was full of giant potholes and they make you pay to use it! The spaces were also not outlined so it was difficult trying to park properly.

Staff excellent.
Food could be slightly better.
Beds are rock hard and pillows lumpy.
Would have been 5 star all round except for those wee negatives. Beds don’t provide a good sleep at all. If these things sorted, it would be perfect.

Great sized family room with clean and comfortable beds. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Breakfast area was spotless and plenty space between tables. Wasn't a lot of space to get food and drinks in the actual buffet area as it was busy, but it was the summer holidays when we went. My son enjoyed the pool and hot tub and the sauna and steam room were good too. Not a huge pool for getting a proper swim but my son enjoyed it. Easy car journey into Aberdeen to visit all the local sights. Would stay here again as it was great value for money and a good hotel.

We enjoyed our first stay at Aberdeen Altens Hotel, the staff were all very welcoming and friendly. It’s a great location for being out of the hustle & bustle of the city centre. We got the bus into town which was great as no parking fees etc. we used the pool which was brilliant, caters for all and isn’t overcrowded. The restaurant was spacious and lovely, relaxing interior, breakfast was great, really good variety. Our room was nice, spacious and on the ground floor, only negative I have is there was a long hair on the bath tap the bath was clean so not too much of an issue, the bottom of the bathroom door was chipped all along the bottom the wood looked like it was ruined from water. The beds are on wheels so moved very easily which wasn’t ideal with a toddler, under the beds really needed a hoover as the were dusty however, the beds were clean as was the rest of the room. We stayed in room 134 and will definitely stay at the Altens again.

The hotel was ok, Shame the lifts were out of order during our stay,
I wasn’t happy with them having the car park repaired while people were using it as the contractors were cutting the car park floor and dust and stones covering parked cars (not thoughtful at all)

It’s was all good

Parking used to be free but now there is a charge. The car park is full of pot holes and impossible to leave without hitting potholes. No mention of charge on booking.
At check in we were informed that the lifts were not working. We have a 5 month old baby and another young child. Everytime we had to go to / from our room we had to take a pram up / down 2 flights of stairs. At one point our baby almost fell out of the pram wholst doing this. It made taking suitcases, pram etc very difficult.
No compensation or alternative room arrangements were offered. Staff didn't seem to care. No mention the lifts were not working at time of booking however reception staff said they hadn't been working for some time.
The restaurant had rotten fruit and when I ordered a vegan desert, it came with ice cream. I pointed this out and the waiter then brought the plate back with sorbet (not the blood orange flavour on the menu but a raspberry one), but the cake, strawberry and sorbet were on top of cream! The waiter dumped the plate and left as quick as he could before I could say anything about the cream. This is an allergy not a preference and we felt our needs were not taken seriously.
The room was noisy, next to the lifts which seemed to be making a noise of going up and down, although they were not working.
Only 3 towels provided in a room booked for 4. Reception said we only need to ask for more but my point was we shouldn't need to ask.

Great property friendly staff I definitely recommend visiting if you visit Aberdeen much better than the American brands in the city

The property was a convenient and quiet location. Good for an overnight stay whilst travelling. Excellent reception staff however staff in the restaurant could be better. Stood waiting to pay for a good 10 minutes while staff just walked past and worked around us. Would stay here again however.

Reception staff excellent. Restaurant staff not so good. Food was lovely but staff took drinks order and they didn’t arrive had to ask several times. Room was lovely could have done with tea and coffee facilities though . Overall good

Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean. Dinner was beautifully presented and value for money. Breakfast had a big selection to choose from and was good quality.
