The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Position was central. Breakfast was really good.
Had read some reviews that werent too good but we found the place very good. Were fussy regarding cleanliness and it was good.
Would definitely stay again.

While the area is very beautiful it was very disappointing to find all around closed at this time of year

We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were all really nice and helpful, the breakfast was yummy and it was a good location for exploring surrounding towns in Tuscany. Only down side is there was a lot of noise from neighbouring rooms, and the water pipes made a loud whistling noise when somebody used the bathroom which was sometimes the middle of the night.

Great hotel, very good breakfast very clean, perfectly located.
But -I had an accident slipping in shower.
It's extremely dangerous, luckily, in my case, it ended only in a few bruises, but could have gone much worse.
The hotel staff promised me they will do the required changes to make it safer.
I hope it the case.

A room was very nice and spacious, staff friendly, breakfast tastefull. There is parking with enough space. Hotel is well situated, close to the elevator to the old city.

Our only complaint was that the room was a little warm at night, but the desk personnel said that they had shut off the air conditioning to the entire hotel because "the nights are cool." So we opened a window and dealt with it. Desk personnel were very friendly and accommodating. We came from Siena; the bus stop was only a short walk away, very convenient for visiting other towns like Volterra or San Gimignano.

Colle is a good base if you prefer to stay in "real" Italy, and is close enough to the touristy bits (Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra etc) for days out. The hotel staff are great - friendly and helpful, and they didn't laugh at my amateur Italiano! Our room was clean and comfy with a lovely view of the old town.

The rooms are large and have these great shutter windows(leftover from the old factory). The customer service was exceptional. Great free WIFI in the lobby and outside in the square. Breakfast with cappuccino to order in a nice dining room hit the spot. The air conditioning wasn't very strong and there was no safe in the room.

Hotel was somewhat hard to find but well marked with directional signs in the area. Great breakfast and near elevator to upper old town & nearby restaurants. Also has free parking lot within 150 meters.

We were driving and this hotel was hard to find. It's located in the center of this little village and the map was not very specific. It was fine once we got there and the breakfast was very nice.

My second stay at this well maintained and run hotel in an excellent location for exploring central tuscany. Helpful staff speaking good Englash and other European langagues. Colle is a very attractive and lively hill .town off the main tourist trail but only a couple of Kms from the Florence-Siena autostrada. Good local restaurants and bars around the main piazza.

My husband and I just returned from a 10 day holiday in Italy. We stayed at Hotel La Vecchia Cartiera for 4 nights. The room was very clean, The air conditioning worked very well and the hotel staff was most helpful. The breakfast at the hotel offered a wide variety of choices and was the best we had on our entire trip (we also stayed in Florence and Rome). It is also located in a beautiful hillside city and is an excellent base from which to explore the Tuscany region.

The owner transformed his former pape mill into a cheerful, impecably run hotel. He is still very involved in daily operations, making sure the place meets up to his high standards. The location is central (1/4 block from the main square), yet quiet and open. The front desk staff, on more than one occassion, went the extra mile to help us (i.e. sought out bicyle rental options,located a cane after a bike fall, looked up bus schedules). We had a delightful week's stay at this hotel. We highly recommend it!

Second trip, we got a larger room this time and had a view over the old town. Colle is not tourist ridden like other local cities. It is convenient to visit surrounding Tuscan highlights.

Good value unpretentious hotel well located from the hustle and bustle of both Siena and Florence. Ideal base for touring the region. Authentic Italian feel to the town with street markets, community and fiestas. Hotel staff were consistently helpful welcoming and pleasant. Glad I stayed at the best value hotel in the town rather than something more expensive.

This is not a luxury hotel. It is, however, clean with very hospitable service. Our room, a superior room, was basic but large with a nice size bathroom. The bed was adequate but not plush. The hotel was located perfectly for exploring Tuscany by car. It was easy to get on the autostrada and easy to get in and out of town. The hotel has a parking garage attached which can be used for an additional charge. The hotel's restaurant was closed but we found several good restaurants in Colle di Val d'Elsa. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The hotel was a good place for the price range. The halls needed some work. There is an elevator. The breakfast was good with croissants and a sampling of meats. One nice feature of the shower was that it had a temperature monitor on the faucet to ensure the temperature was always at 35 degrees centigrade--no fussing with the dials. The desk clerk seems gruff, but he was pleasant about supplying information when asked. There is a hotel parking garage with a charge, or park in public parking nearby (also a charge, but less).
