My wife & I drove from Anchorage to Homer, Alaska and booked a room at Beluga Lake Lodge. We immediately had a problem with the desk clerk. He gave me a paper to sign & explained we would be held accountable for stolen towels, stolen blankets, damage to the room, etc. We were required to sign the paper before he would rent us the room. My wife said we needed to see the room before we signed the paper. He refused to show us the room. I asked why. He said “Liability”. Liability? To view a room we were just told we would be held accountable for any damage to the room but he won’t show us the room? We would have left but he had our credit card information and would charge us for the room. He finally showed us the room. I noted damages on the paper we were required to sign.
The next day we roamed around Homer and returned to the hotel around 2 pm to find we were locked out of our room. The desk clerk told me checkout time was at 11 am. I thought I booked 2 nights but was told I booked only one night. The desk clerk had listed us on the “do not rent“ list and said he wanted us out of “his hotel”. He unlocked the room, I loaded our belongings into our car, turned in the key cards, and asked him to check the room for damages because I didn’t want any surprises. He refused to look at the room. I requested the owner or manager & was told neither was available. The desk clerk said “Get out of my hotel or I will call the cops".

The best thing about this place is it's nearness to the Homer Spit. Everything else is about what you'd expect from a motel.

The price was very reasonable. Hotel staff went above and beyond to find us a room for our stay, only 1 night. They were very professional and friendly.

Very accommodating staff. Our room was VERY small with single queen bed. Don’t know about other rooms. Served our purpose for being in Homer nearly 2 weeks.

This property has people living in it, was dark and very small and very old. If I worked for hotels . Com I would take it of all the sights and never offer it as an option.

Wish Homer would have a small shuttle back & forth on the main road (or side walks, paths maybe). Perhaps a small bus, hop on-hop off for a few bucks. Dogs in the back?
Make Homer user friendly so you can access the spit, go to grocers or Ulmers, look at a peony farm or nursery, etc.
it, would cut down on cars and RV’s

Everything was great except thin walls made it noisy at times.

Basically an outdated motel but it did the job.

Rooms smelled very bad. Lots of noise from the road close by. The condition was so bud that we had to cut short our stay

When we checked in the staff at the front desk told us the room number gave us the room key. We opened the room walked in and found that there was a man sitting on the bed in that room. It shocked us but we apologized to him went back to the front desk and explained what happened. She said it was her fault and gave us a different room.
The room had a bad musty smell and filthy carpets.

rooms are very tight. like getting a queen bed in a double bed room. one night stand, light, chair, luggage rack. no in room coffee. they did have coffee in lobby. not a room tp stay in more than a night. but it was clean and presentable.

Nice and clean. Comfy bed. Good shower. Great view of the lake and float planes.

We were glad to see that this was a clean facility, after our last experience. The reviews we read for this place were spot on. Beautiful town with lots of unique touristy places on “the Spit” to visit.

Loved the views and access to the road easily for the activities. The Homer Spit is very close and beautiful route to drive from the hotel.

Need new carpets badly. Had a musty smell in the hallways.

The lady that checked in was not very nice but when turned my card in that lady was very sweet, we were both laughing.

I like that it was in a central location. I did not like the smell.

I wouldn't recommend this place. It smelled terrible in the hallways like vomit. The front desk check in was very unprofessional. I guess if you can't find anywhere else to stay in Homer and are there for a work trip it might work for you.

Very close to town and other attractions like tours and fishing.

This property needs a refresh. The carpet is worn and old. There is no coffee in the rooms but they had some in the lobby. The towels were nice but the bedding was sub par. There were no instructions for the heating system and the wall baseboard heaters were falling apart in our room. I'm not sure where the heat come from.

It's the lowest price in Homer right now and the rooms are fine. The microwave and fridge mean you don't always have to dine out.

Our stay was pleasant, we were in town for only one night to attend a wedding. We arrived early and fortunately the staff was able to get us squared away with a room.
My only complaint is that their bar closed at 9pm, which doesn't proved much time for night life but that seems the speed of all of Homer.

First impressions of people make lasting impressions. When I went to check in I wasn’t greeted with a smile, hello…nothing. The male clerk at the counter wasn’t that pleasant either. His attitude made me feel I was an inconvenience. There was a woman in there who was nice and at checkout the other woman was nice as well. Due to this man’s demeanor I will never stay there again and will not recommend this place. The building is older, but it is a pet-friendly building so this is a plus. The room was clean and obvious care and thought was put into this. From what little I could see, the facility was clean and tidy. I am a non-smoker and the entire day/night/middle of the night there was cigarette/marijuana smell overwhelming our room even though people were outside. The room was very cheap compared to other hotels, but the name Beluga Lodge is very misleading. It nothing like a lodge, more of a motel, not a hotel. If you have pets, overnighting and on a tight budget this is the place for you, but again, due to the male clerks attitude I will not stay again.

Located in the center of Homer Alaska and close to dining and the boat docks.Quite clean and friendly staff worth the stay.

Staff was all friendly and helpful. Coffee always available and food at the bar and grill was good. Good location and great view of the float plane harbour.

I did enjoy this hotel for the location. Within walking distance of Beluga Lake where most float planes take off and land, and a short drive to the Homer Spit. Not the cleanest hotel though. The shower had a lot of soap scum and the carpet looked like it could use a good cleaning. The biggest disappointment though was the reaction of staff when I asked them to lock the connecting door between my room and the room next door. I did not realize it was unlocked until my neighbor decided to open the door. As a female traveling solo, this is truly horrifying to have a stranger open the door to your room so easily. The door can only be locked with a key to the deadbolt. So when I went to the front desk in a panic asking them to lock the door, they were unconcerned and were almost annoyed that they had to get the key and come lock the door.

Smelly and musty room. Marijuana smoking in the room across from us coming into our room all night. Cats in the next door room. Windows broken out. Employees smoking marijuana in the laundry room. Would not recommend. We couldn’t get a fresh towel at 9 am from front desk. We booked 3 nights but only stayed 2 as that was all we could handle. They would not refund for the 3rd night. We notified we wouldn’t be staying for the final night at 9 am as well. Definitely better places to stay in Homer. 👎

My family did not feel safe staying here. There were what appeared to be tweakers staying there smoking right outside the entrance door and going between rooms at all hour of the night and early morning. We wish that we had payed an extra $100 to stay somewhere else because we felt unsafe there and couldn’t sleep. The room was also unclean.

the whole room was smelling of cigarettes and felt very unsafe when I was at the property, I would not recommend.

Tiny room, too small for a chair.
2.0
The staff was pleasant, they don’t go out of their way to make you feel welcome. My first impression was, I thought I had rented a room at a halfway house. The parking lot is one big mud hole and the place is rundown and just tired.

Very comfortable and clean. Not fancy, but good.

This is an older hotel but updated in some important areas, like clean, modern bathroom, very comfortable queen size bed, and good TV coverage. It is the best bargain in town and worked well for us with easy and quick access to the Spit.
