Nicole, the receptionist / manager was very helpful in every way. The fact that she spoke English was also helpful because my Portuguese is still limited.
The breakfast was very good and the furniture and environment reflected well in the hotel's historical restoration.
The room I had was spacious and also the bathroom.
I really can't think of anything negative except for the bathroom cold water faucet took effort to close all the way and leaked a little bit. The windows took some effort to close but that's understandable because they are original.

Johnscher is a beautiful hotel with helpful staff and very comfortable rooms. The breakfast was perfect, recommend this hotel highly.

Amazing little hotel with friendly helpful staff . Excellent breakfast and dinner in the hotel. Rooms good size comfortable beds and great hot water . Walkable to the shopping mall with a massive food court ( but noisy) . The hotel is an oasis of peace and quiet

The place has a mix decor bringing both history and trendiness to it. it gives you a vibe of a bohemian hotel that has lived its live fully. every collaborator was extremely helpful and super nice!

It is a renovated full-of-history hotel. Thus, it's amazing to be in a place founded in 1917 but enhanced according to current tendencies.

A beautifully restored hotel in the historic center- we had a wonderful room at the front- it was huge.The staff were very welcoming on our arrival and did all they could to make our stay comfortable. The one draw back with this hotel is that there are not many bars and restaurants open in the surrounding area in the evenings, so we had a 20 minute walk to get anything after 6 pm.

The hotel is nice and comfortable, the breakfast very good. But it was impossible using the free (!) Wifi without giving them all your private data which I didn't want to (telefone, e-mail, facebook, anything). The worst thing was that the staff were not honest about that. They told me there was no problem with the Internet but it took me hours to keep on trying. Finally a staff member gave me his personal data so that I could use the Wifi. I felt very uncomfortable about that.

Stayed here to do the Beer Train & loved it. Great breakfast, fireplace and whisky in the lobby at night. Recommend staying here. Good location. Can walk to pedestrian shopping.

The hotel is old, although a bit classical. The rooms have paper thin walls: you can hear toilets flushing and conversations from other rooms and floors. The lights in the hallways re controlled by electric eyes which have very long delays, so stepping out of the elevator at tyour floor means waiting 5 seconds until the hallway lights turn on in a pitch dark hallway: extremely creepy.
Staff doesn't speak a word of English.

Hotel is located away from the tourist area but close enough to get to most places. Clean and fresh the room was a good size. I would suggest a chair as there was no where to sit. Great shower and bath.

This is a decent hotel, clean, characterful building and rooms with high ceilings and lots of light. Simple and slightly under whelming breakfast, adequate service, not much in the way of amenities but a good overall choice at this price point if all you need is a decent room that has a bit more style and character than a typical business hotel.

This facility is very comfortable and well run. The real negative is the loud party/event facility next door that is noisy when you want to sleep.

Very nice hotel, clean & comfortable. The hotel is in a great location. Unfortunately on first night we were woken to very loud music and a man shouting very loudly from what sounded like a fitness class! We were moved rooms. Noise does travel through the hotel very easily as on the second night we had a screaming baby in the room next door and we could hear it very clearly (annoying) not the hotels fault. We really loved the hotel style and the breakfast in the morning was great. Plus the restaurant was very nice! Great place to stay minus the noise.

Its a wonderful boutique hotel, lovingly restored. Service was great, breakfasts (included) were very nice. My only disappointment is that the highly-rated adjacent (but probably independent) restaurant,Zea Mais, was closed for Carnival. The area is quiet and very close to everything in the Centro district.
