Very uncomfortable!!!! There was old moldy food in the fridge!!!! Dirty dishes in the sink. The blinds did not work they were taped together. Not worth the $560 a night I spent.

We had a great stay. Perfect for a family. Very nice staff that took good care of us. We felt very welcomed! Close to beach & beach walk/pier, downtown SM a Main Street. Perfect for the teens!

We loved our stay! The staff is so helpful and polite. Rooms are spacious and clean, it's like staying in an apartment. I absolutely love the quiet little swimming pool, with a beautiful garden surrounding it. Location can not be beat! This is a gem of a hotel; it is not a newer place or upscale, but if you are looking for a place with a full kitchen, near the beach and a quiet atmosphere- Cal Mar is the perfect spot!

Great location with plenty of shopping and dining options. Short walk to amazing views and the beach.

We really liked the apartment feel and lots of space. It was nice to have a kitchen to meet special dietary needs. We would definitely stay there again.

If you love the 70s Hotel California vibe (I do), this is a must stay. Spacious, clean but non-updated lodgings. Helpful housekeeping. Very memorable stay! One shabby screen hung irreparably on the window.

Close to beach. Able to walk to restaurants/shops Pool looked nice but never got a chance to go in. Bed was comfy.

Loved being able to easily walk to the Saturday Farmers. The rate seemed high for an older fewer amenities location. It would be great for a family looking to prepare all their own meals.

My family had a wonderful stay at Cal Mar. We stayed there with two teens. It was neat and quiet and still so close to the beach and downtown. For us, it was really great with the possibility to do some cooking. But please check the bed size as the beds in our suite were a little small for two persons.

The apartment was clean and immaculately maintained. The staff were fastidious and friendly. The apartment was spacious and very convenient for the centre and the local buses

Pictures don’t look like the real thing. Some broken blinds for balcony door, dead bolt lock is broken as when locking it, it locks you in and you have to mess with it just to get the door open. Over all not that bad

A very friendly, well maintained and presented 50s motel in the heart of Santa Monica, a short walk to the pier and the shopping district. The room I stayed in was HUUUGE with a full kitchen. The bathroom was small but the shower was hot and powerful. Some of the tiles were a bit damaged - I don't know if they were the original ones but they could have been! The whole place was spotlessly clean. There were a couple of maintenance niggles - one of the bedside lamps wasn't working and the security bolt thing on the door was loose and wouldn't have been any use were an unexpected visitor to come knocking. The pool area is lovely and the pool is heated year round, so had I had time, I would DEFINITELY have been swimming during my February trip! Everybody working there was super-friendly. I have to say, that has not always been my experience in LA. If I was to visit Santa Monica again, I would absolutely stay at Cal Mar Hotel Suites again. I can't put it better than that.

Cozy quiet hotel, which appears to have been a small apartment complex. Very good value

The best part is the big living room and kitchen, even though the pots and pans are a little beaten, but they are sufficient, especially the small knife for fruits. The towels and bed sheets need to be more clean and dry. The towels are moist. The location is great. Overall we really enjoyed the stay!

This place is running down. Only access in front door and parkings are around building. ..not feel safe at all

This is a great find in the heart of Santa Monica. Close to the pier and the promenade. Friendly staff, clean rooms, full kitchen so you can get groceries at the markets close by.

This is truly a hidden gym, just 2 blocks from the beach, 3rd street promenade right around the corner, affordable, and the staff were super friendly and even upgraded our stay! This area is very clean, and safe and just about everything you need is within walking distance. Highly recommend.

My stay at Cal Mar was brief and I didn’t spend much time in my room but it served my purposes. I was upgraded to a one bedroom by the very nice desk clerk. The facility is certainly dated and a bit run down but it was clean and comfortable. There was a full kitchen which I didn’t really use. Their are tons of restaurants in walking distance but not super close. Charge for parking but it was a very convenient carport. I would return, for the price and convenience.

Cant wait to visit again! Definitely made our experience in Santa Monica great!

I would definitely stay again the beds in the room were smaller than the listing, with a little switching around of people eveything worked out well.
