Great location 15 mins walk from York hospital. This was a second night stay at this B&B due to quiet location, breakfast and friendly staff. Would highly recommend

We really enjoyed our stay at St Mary's. The staff was excellent, the room was great, and the breakfast was terrific. We chose St Mary because it is close to the train station and close to the historic district in York. We hope to return one day.

I think the location is great. It’s close to the train station and the city center. Easy to walk to and from town. The breakfast was good, the staff is very friendly, and our room was clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place and come back if I go back to York in the future.

Steps away from the idyllic River Ouse, this quaint and quiet B&B will not disappoint. Cleanliness in both private and public areas is top notch. Staff work cheerfully under the friendly manager dubbed the Queen Bee. Breakfast includes the traditional Those who have trouble with stairs should book the ground floor, those who can manage stairs be prepared for the narrow staircases and light sensors. They only come on only when you’re directly in the range of detection.

Within a short walk of the city centre and station, several pubs and eating places nearby, perfect for a short break.

Fantastic stay, we were greeted by Caroline who was amazing what a lovely lady!!! the room we stayed in was really comfortable, cosy, clean and warm. The breakfast was excellent great choice available included fruit cereal full cooked breakfast which was delicious well cooked and prompt, the waitresses were real sweethearts, attentive and very professional a credit to the business. We would definitely recommend this little gem of a b&b and have already re-booked to stay. Thank you to all at St Marys for making our visit to York on a birthday weeked so memorable ✨️ 💖

Extremely clean, compact rooms. Customer service was brilliant and second to none however breakfast was a bit disapponting hence provided just 4 star but rest is absolutely brill.

A fantastic experience. Great food, lovely warm room, extremely comfy bed, no shortage of hot water, very very clean, only a short walk by the river into town centre. In a lovely quiet area. Easy to find just off main road. Caroline & Christina were the perfect hosts. Parking is just opposite. Can fully recommend this B&B. We are going to return early next year. 🤗

This was very clean, quiet and large room. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

The room was not very expensive and perhaps we got proper value. It would have been a better stay for guests if some things had been addressed - the area around the front door could have been shrubbed nicely, the door sill painted, the entry rug cleaned, and someone there to greet us. The building is old and the interior doors do not match the style, adding a dingy air. In the room, the shower wand would not stay in position and the first morning little water emerged. If you completely closed the bathroom door, a good shove from the outside was necessary to open it. The beds were basic but surprisingly comfortable. The room was quiet. The standard English breakfast was adequate. The person in the room next to us reported to us that she had left her iPhone visible in her room while she was out and it disappeared. That could and probably would happen anywhere. Parking was very close. The walk to the old town tourist area was not far, but at night it was quiet and dark. If you can afford more, do so.

Staff and manager are wonderful as are the breakfasts.

I was very pleased with this guest house. It's a short walk from the train station and the Minster, on a quiet, pleasant street. There is a train track right across the street from the house, but the train noise is minimal, certainly not enough to wake you at night. Breakfasts were excellent, and staff was very friendly and helpful.

It was a good location if you like to walk, which we do. However, It would have been nice to receive walking directions for newcomers from the train station since we found later there was a much shorter walk via Scarborough Bridge

I stayed at room 10, it was spacious, lovely coffee, tea & a pack of biscuits provided during my stay. English breakfast is also included. Christina has been very kind & helpful, the service by the staff during my breakfast time are friendly. Please note that room 10 is the most upper floor where no lifts are available, only a very narrow stairs up. This location is only 11 mins walk to the train station and 14 mins to city centre, Shambles. Overall, I had a lovely stay here. I would highly recommend St Mary’s Guest House to anyone who wants a quiet short stay in York.

The staff were fantastic. They were very friendly and made sure that everything we needed was provided. The property is easy to walk to the city centre and the train station. The daily breakfast was very good. We had a stiff door to the bathroom which was a little frustrating when trying to be quiet at night. The trainstation being close means you do hear trains at night but this is easy to ignore. The room was clean and very comfortable.

This property is adorable, but Caroline really made my stay phenomenal. I’m traveling solo around the UK and she was so friendly and took extra special care of me during my stay. I can’t thank her enough. I had the room up allll the stairs which was crazy with my giant bag BUT it was such a cute room with a great view out my window and I would highly recommend it! The room is clean and updated with a cute coffee & tea tray to wake up with. Breakfast is super tasty, too - I had the Full English and really enjoyed it, plus they easily accommodated my gluten allergy. I’d recommend this to my closest family and friends, and that’s really saying something! Thank you so much for the lovely care you show to your patrons, I won’t forget it.

Lovely quiet location. Room was compact, as per the description. Clean, but a little tired in areas. Breakfast was lovely, best bacon had for ages. Just be aware of tree sap if you are parking outside.

Delightful Bed and Breakfast located close to the city center and the Minster. The staff are super friendly. The breakfast was perfectly delicious. The room was very comfortable. Definitely recommend!
