Lovely hotel located in a beautiful area with amazing views of the countryside. Hotel looks like a typical traditional house with all the comfort. We enjoyed the pool and the breakfast on the terrace. With the car, we were 5 minutes away from Volterra.

I have only positive things to say about our stay at Villa Rioddi - beautiful setting, delicious breakfast and lovely facilities! We are incredibly grateful to the owner Luca who went above and beyond to make our experience as pleasant and easy going as possible. The breakfast also deserves a special shout out: amazing selection of cakes baked daily by his wife, delicious coffee and new savoury dishes every day. Thank you - we would love to come back!

Nice old Italian villa, large rooms with high ceilings. Delicious breakfast prepared by boss Luca’s wife. Luca is a count of knowledge about Tuscany.

This is very beautiful villa with a reach history. Located in a quiet place next to Volterra with an excellent view to the Tuscany countryside!
The owner of the place Luca is very friendly and helped to plan our travel around Tuscany.
This place offering delicious and hearty breakfast.

The property is located in a valley with breathtaking views of Tuscany. The hotel building looks and feels like a medieval castle with updated amenities inside. Minutes from Volterra, and restaurants. The owners are very friendly, the staff is wonderful, and the breakfast is excellent. We will definitely go back. Awesome experience.

We booked one night only. Checked-in around 9 am and Lucca (the owner) was very kind to call a restaurant and arrange for us to have dinner (which by the way dinner was great, tks for the tip!). Room was comfortable. Breakfast was the highlight. Simply divine. The best one we have ever had !!! Most of the offer (cakes, bread, jam) were home made and straight out from the property back yard. We highly recommend booking a room here. Lucca will make you feel like home and help you in every way possible.

I really loved this place. I found it and booked last minute, then stayed an extra night. If I'd known before, I would have booked it for several nights and used it as my base of operations. The owners are a lovely family with one small daughter and another child on the way. The property is a several-hundred-year-old hotel outside the city walls about half-way down the hill. Luca, the owner, told me it was built as a hotel for people who might have showed up too late in the day to get inside the city walls back in the day. He was very pleasant. Worked long hours and did a lot of the cooking himself. Made the bread they served at the included breakfast buffet. I think the missus made the desserts that were also served. Great food. Lovely property with a pool that I didn't have time to try. The free parking caught my eye when I booked. Having a car, getting up to the hill to the city was not a problem. It could be walked, but it's steep. I imagine there are some bus options, but I didn't need to know so I didn't find out. Luca was very helpful with ideas on other places in the region to visit. All in all, my favorite among the hotels in Italy I tried. I'd definitely stay there again.

Got lots of information on where to travel around the area. Very helpful with questions (where to park, how to get to places etc.)
I booked this hotel bc of the breakfast and it did NOT DISSAPOINT! So many local dishes and eggs, and then breakfast dessert with a choice of 4-5 cakes everyday!
It was a little hike from the town not very well marked but could easily drive and find parking (Luka will tell you where's it free/cheap/convenient)
Spent a day at the pool looking at volterra and reading in the beautiful countryside.
I 100% recommend this place especially for the price.

This was truly fantastic, Luca and his lovely wife are careful and passionate hosts who will do their very best to accommodate their guests. We had the quadruple room for 3 nights, it was large and comfortable. Breakfast (with nearly everything home made) is amazing as well. Only thing are the mosquitos near the swimmigpool and on the terrace but this is not something the hosts could do much about. We’ll be back when we come to Volterra !

Fantastic hotel with very nice and friendly staff, clean, great/beatiful room and the breakfast was full of home-made-stuff that tasted delicious. All that combined with a beautiful view. The best hotel we stayed in during our Italy-Tuscany-trip.

Everything about staying at Albergo Villa Rioddi was great. My room had a great view of the walled city and the garden below. The back terrace (that had tables with chairs) overlooked the hills and valleys. The breakfast was fantastic. The host gave great maps, recommendations and directions for places to visit.

Lovely location and pleasant hotel. Our room was large and the garden beautiful, as was the pool.
The breakfast was absolutely amazing, perhaps the best ever in a hotel of this level.
The only downside for us was that the owner spoke so quickly when we checked in that we struggled to take it all in and felt a bit as if we were a nuisance to him. However he did give us all the info we needed and it was just his temperament that jarred a bit from an otherwise delightful stay.

We stayed at the Villa Rioddi for one night on our passing trip to Volterra. The hotel is within a easy 5-10min drive to central Volterra (apparently about 30 min walk, but I wouldnt recommend it and especially at night). There is free parking at the hotel. The hotel owners are friendly, laid back, hard working and cant do enough to help you. They gave us recommendations of places to visit, eat and park around Volterra. The swimming pool is a nice open area, with plenty of loungers surrounded by greenery and scenery. The breakfast as other reviewers have said is plentiful, fresh and majority home made. Now the room - I would have given Villa Rioddi a five star review had we maybe stayed in a different room in the hotel. The room we had be given itself was clean, comfortable, had A/C, TV and all the usual things youd expect from a hotel room - the only thing we found was that it felt like we was staying in am underground bunker with no windows. Im sure the upstairs/other rooms would be a lot nicer but this was our only criticism of the hotel (and that other reviewers said that it is within walking distance of Volterra and it really isnt) I would stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to others.
