Lovely hotel - central to the city. Fabulous restaurant- Parking is challenging
5.0
Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff. The food menu is very nice in the restaurant. The rooms are clean, well equiped, spacious and comfortable.
The rate was very reasonable.
I will definitely stay again next time I am in Poole.

Lovely hotel and super dog friendly. Would definitely come again

There was nothing that was too much trouble for the hotel and the staff. I made requests that, in some cases were not normal procedure for them, but they stepped up and provided the support I requested. I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. It really was first class.

Excellent hotel. Would certainly recommend it to anyone

Unique property - much more interesting than the mega chains.

The room had a slight odour -Bodega- damp ? Drain ? Not sure - there was no fridge unusual in a hotel like this.
Location was great. Staff were brilliant. Enjoyed our stay - did not eat in the hotel - lots of choice outside.

The room was on the smallish side-a basic room with not a great view over rooftop and extractor system for kitchens though could also glimpse the sea. Parking limited and spaces tight. Location great. Staff friendly. Food good. Ok for the price though feel the parking should be free given it's on hotel land.

We are regular visitors to Poole because our son and daughter-in-law live on the harbourside, yet our first stay at this hotel. We so wish we’d stayed here before and will be our hotel of choice going forward. The staff were welcoming and consistently friendly. The room was immaculately clean and tastefully furnished with a nod to the seaside location. Seconds from the harbour. The bed was large and comfortable. The stay was just faultless. Thank you

The room air conditioning didn’t operate and there was no ventilation, meaning it was extremely hot

Great customer service and a very friendly team. Hotel ideally located for the harbour and sea front. Spacious room with everything we needed for a comfortable weekend break. Easy access to town car park if hotel car park is full. All in all great value and we would return.

Superb hotel in Poole Old Town. Everything top quality.

This was a last minute booking made midway through ferry journey due to serious delays and much later arrival time meaning we felt unwise to then progress on with 3 hour drive. We booked specifically because it was dog friendly, near port, apparently 4 stars and had stayed at part of the chain previously and had 24/7 Room service for food on listing. we arrived just before 10pm, the room was essentially in loft on what had been hottest day of year so far and of course A/C was broken. We reported this and told nothing we can do as all booked just use fans. Food service we were told not available as kitchen closed but you could choose from the 4 options of late night snacks. Had the Croque Monsieur which was one of the four options - catastrophic food poissioning for next four days (I'd only had a bowl of fruit and yoghurt mid-morning prior to that). On arrival there were band aids left in bathroom bin and a distinct yellow tinge to the toilet water. I appreciate a last minute booking and can't expect the world but the room wasn't exactly cheap and given we'd not eaten the 24/7 room service to have a proper meal was one of the key reasons we booked it was very misleading and with it resulting in food poisoning was even worse. Won't be staying again and wished we'd made the drive in the end certainly not worth the money.

This was the perfect location for a stay the night before a ferry crossing. The hotel is well maintained and has a lovely bar/garden area. The room was modern and comfortable.

One of the better hotels in Poole. I would recommend this hotel. Parking is an issue, but 24 hr parking is available is close proximity, £13 for 24 hrs

Fantastic location and lovely room. Third time staying there but was a little disappointed with my room, it lacked character and the steps are so steep to get up to the room with a heavy case , I really struggled. Also I was in a separate part of the Hotel with its own entrance as a returning customer it really felt like a down grade. The room was immaculate and lovely bathroom but not what I expected from Hotel Du Vin.

This is the 4th time we have stayed at the hotel when visiting family. The hotel is in a great quiet location, a short walk from the key. Friendly staff and a great breakfast. We will be back.

Great check in experience. Young man who checked me in was extremely helpful, friendly and attentive.

we had one of the mobility rooms so wasn't the best of rooms for us as we had a wet room rather than a bath and shower. we were told that it was fully booked but just wondered why we got that room. the food and drink was great and the bar and retaurant was a lovely area to sit in and relax

The weather was cold and wet for late May and the large Georgian era room was difficult to keep warm. The gate to the courtyard never closed properly as it was warped as was the door to my room so the place was draughty. The room was well appointed with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a very high sided bath with a shower over. As I am in my seventies and unsteady on my feet I never felt safe having a shower.
Dining was excellent with a beautiful dining room (the establishment had been the Mansion House Dining Club before being bought by Hotel du Vin) and the food matched, it was delicious and attractive.

Lovely hotel, great room & service. Room was large & great bath & shower. Comfy big bed.

The room we had (standard double) was large enough and of good quality with complimentary water. We stayed for 2 days and opted out of daily clean in place of £15 worth of drink vouchers for the bar. Staff were lovely, though there was no one around at all when we arrived at 1pm - so a poor first impression. Food was excellent. Drink prices seemed excessive tbh. Main issue was parking - they claim to have 10 spaces but realistically can get 7 cars in - no room left to open your car door to get out! Needs remarking allowing for size of modern cars. Overall a good experience in hotel, though local area looks run down and not very pleasant.

I run a hospitality business, so I thought long and hard before leaving even the slightest negative feedback for this hotel. It still deserved a 4, but could so easily have been a 5.
The location is superb, can’t fault that. Period building, really well presented, superb artwork, great décor, very French in character.
There were however two points that really did take the shine off a £300 plus night stay.
The first was the parking signage. The signs stated “Resident parking only”, the sort of sign you see at a block of flats, no mention of the hotel, so we ended up parking off site. Which left me worrying about my Land Rover all weekend.
The second was the room itself. Pretty nice, TV worked, usual amenities plus a free standing bath and king size plus bed, en-suite shower room, wardrobes, tea, coffee, etc.
The only real problem here is the shower did not work and the shower tray was blocked. So even if I had managed to get some heat out of it, I was in for a short shower or flood the reception below. We reported it, on our way out to dinner reservations. They promised to look into it, and to their credit offered us another room (while we were on our way out). We declined, and said “no problem but you need to sort that”
On check out I again mentioned the shower. Nothing on the system, nothing logged, zip, nada, nowt. The staff were kinda dismissive of the whole situation. I’m sorry, a deluxe room for £300 plus per night and the shower doesn’t work? Really? So you get a 4*

Quite disappointing. The hotel is really old and needs some refurbishment. The reception is on the second floor and our room was 2 floors above that with no lifts. I am 79 and had to carry 2 heavy suitcases up three flights of stairs. Room was ok clean and well stocked and breakfast quite good. Location was poor with no decent views or sights.

The hotel was very clean & the staff were excellent the breakfast was first rate.
The dinning room I would put a quest mark on as the meal I had really upset me & my wife.
So I’m not sure if I would like to return

Lovely large room with comfortable bed and sheets. Staff friendly and extremely helpful.

Disappointing experience. Hotel looking very shabby. Lunch was awful, food served before we even had drinks delivered. Food was cold. Room was uninspiring. Back to back TV’s are a bad idea!
Staff seemed distracted and everything felt as though it was a huge effort for them. I didn’t expect to feel unsafe walking around the Main Street at 7.30pm. All in all a lacklustre experience.

Shame the car park was so small. Had to park about 10 mins away and reception staff didn’t have info on the car park (ie when we needed to pay). Other than that, all good.

The Hotel is in a great location but felt the rooms need updating and also really hard to get to the room as very narrow corridors. My room was really cold as the room itself was lovely so it was a shame as spoilt the experience.

We loved our stay. The hotel, the staff, the room and the ambiance were excellent.

A lovely place to stay, the only thing I did not like was the stairs carpet, a silly thing, but it felt very odd with the pattern

lovely hotel, friendly staff. Disappointing to be charged extra for car parking, and service charge automatically added to bill with extra space from gratuity. Had a room in the "Mill House" part of the hotel, so a bit small.

This was a business trip on my own. The staff are great at interaction with you which is great for a solo traveller. Claire leads the team well and get good practice appears to have rubbed of on the staff particularly the staff at breakfast and Zac on the bar. Carpark is narrow to get into and also limited small spaces so suggest the large public carpark meatballs if you're not a confident parker. Don't let that put you off the hotel though. It's very nice, breakfast is great and in a very handy location for the Quay that has plenty of bars and restaurants.
8.0
period hotel, nicely presented. Indivdual rooms. Great Bistro. 5 starts not awarded as food left in fridge from previous occupant. Our room beautifull but let down by bathroom fan not working and shower tray blocked drain. Small details I know, but shouldn't happen in a 4 star hotel

We stayed here for one night for our Babymoon and we stayed in one of the dog-friendly suites. It was one of the nicest hotel rooms we have ever stayed in! They even put a dog bed, doggy bag (with a ball and dog treats in), dog bowls with mat, and a lovely welcome note in the room. The room was gorgeous and comfortable, it had a bath in the room, lovely sofa/lounge area, plenty of tea and coffee and a great big comfy bed. The service at Reception was great.

Fantastic stay at Hotel du Vin, Poole. Gorgeous room, lovely breakfast and really friendly staff. The bar needs Guinness on draught though 😆

Was 1 night for business travel. Reception is friendly. The hotel is clean and the rooms are nice. But the nighthalls are small and you need to go stairs up, stairs down and no elevator.
