The hotel was lovely, as were the staff. A loud extraction fan could be heard in the room until after 11pm, and this started up at around 6:30am the next morning, waking us up. Really disappointing.

We had a relaxing visit to The George, loved our room and the layout. We were able to sit and enjoy a drink and enjoyed two amazing meals and breakfasts. Will definitely be visiting again.

Very enjoyable stay & staff were very friendly and attentive. Lovely hotel, rooms all named with nespresso machine.

We had a lovely stay at the George, its a beautiful building inside and out and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Food was nice. We had a wait of around 40 minutes for our evening meal but it quite busy. Would definitely stay again.

We couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. We stayed in room 17 (family room) we had lots of space and the room was beautifully decorated. The staff are amazing! So helpful and friendly everyday! The food?!? Is brilliant! We ate here two nights because it was that good! We will definitely return in the future

Absolutely loved our 1 night stay here! My family and I shared a family suite which was stunning. Beautiful decor and traditional styling complete this room, I was blown away with the quality of the fixtures and fittings. Child’s single made up on arrival and extra towels left for her. Radio and dimmed lights were on as we entered the room, setting a lovely ambience. They had also left a fan on as a really warm arrival day and we thought that was a lovely touch. Hairdryer in the room, which is very handy and plenty of mirrors near sockets, which for some reason is becoming a rarity in hotels these days… well not here! All the lovely little extras made our stay one of which we won’t forget! Plenty of complementary tea and coffee in the room, bottles of still and sparkling water, again complementary which added to the luxurious feel. We really were amazed by the whole experience. We dined in the restaurant at night and the staff were second to none… very attentive and breakfast was amazing! We can’t wait to return!

Always a good sign when we checked in that that the restaurant was full with dinners. Checked in no problems staff very helpfull, room was spotless and ideal for family of 4 for a one night stay. Breakfast was excellent especially the black pudding great value what we paid for the night. If we are ever back it this area would definitely look at staying here again.

Really nice hotel and pub. Character pub, but with modern decor in the excellent room. Food was really nice (had evening meal and breakfast). Will stay again when visiting our friends in the area.

Nice rooms and even more so, a very comfortable mattrass. It was a very hot day when I stayed and I appreciated the fact that the staff left a mobile air con unit in my room.

The room decor in what was our standard double was lovely. The bed was really comfortable and shower was great. The only minor tweaks would be a more exciting snacks with the tea and coffee and a stronger blind. During our stay the staff were really accommodating, though a bigger classic cocktail menu would have been great. The breakfast menu was lovely, though I would rather have the continenal options included as standard and then pay for cooked option

Beautiful and stylish hotel with plenty of parking. Lovely spacious room with quality furnishings, toiletries and beverages. Well lit with plenty of mirrors and seating area for relaxing. Food at the hotel was very good and all the staff were very friendly. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again . Good value for money.

Absolutely fabulous room. The room was just the best, comfy sofa , huge bed and a really lovely bathroom. Evening meal was top notch and breakfast was ace too .

We booked the George for a one night stay and it fulfilled all our expectations. The room was a good size and very well furnished (including very quirky wallpaper), the staff were uniformly friendly and efficient and the food (both evening meal and breakfast) was excellent. Highly recommended.

Stayed overnight on the reopening night. Everything was brand new. The decor was very nice throughout the hotel. Staff were very helpful. We had a superior room and it was lovely. The only minus point regarding the room was it was above the bar. We had breakfast which was good but would have liked an help yourself continental. Would recommend this hotel. We also had dinner at the sister hotel The Maynard (for sentimental reasons) which was excellent. The Hope Valley area is beautiful and well worth a visit.

A fabulous property within the Peak District National Park, serving good food & beer, but also easily accessed from Sheffield too. A short drive from the Ladybower Dam for Dambuster fans & the Snake Pass for those who may enjoy the drive to Glossop & back !

Lovely stay and hotel, the staff and food were great, only criticism is the person on reception when we checked out barely acknowledged us which was a shame. However would definitely go back.

We booked a room with a king bed according to our expedia booking but we were instead given a double bed. Not even a queen sized but a double. And, we didn't realize it but our bathroom vent fan was very loud for the ppl next door in their room and we showered late at night and left bathroom vent fan on to remove steam and humidity from room. We went to bed and had our do not disturb sign on only to be woken by knocking at our door by front desk staff b/c noisy vent fan was keeping next door neighbors awake. We felt terrible for them but also annoyed that the fan was making that noise. Front desk staff had to come in and turn off switch for fan part of light. We couldn't hear noise on our side but apparently neighbors had noise from duct work. Needless to say between having a small bed and being woken late at night (it was after 11:30 pm), we did not sleep well at all. Very disappointing stay -- especially since we paid higher rate to stay where king bed was offered. Front desk clerk said there were no additional rooms available - she did see we were reserved for king sized bed.

Lovely place to stay. Great staff, nice open feel, good food and excellent beer from local Sheffield brewery. Local sourcing is a strong theme here and I recommend it to you!

We had a lovely time. We stayed in"Jane" a family room at the front of the hotel but personally we had absolutely no issues with the road. There is secondary double glazing to help and was surprised that some guests were complaining on reviews (maybe they were very picky!). What we really appreciated was the attention to detail. We were a family of three and was pleased to find three mugs, three glasses and three bottles of water left in the room, you would be surprised how many hotels do not think to add additional supplies for additional guests, even some 5 star hotels have not come up to scratch with this. Perfectly located if you are planning to walk in the peaks. Would definitely recommend and happy to stay here again.
