I read previous reviews of this property and believe that they are, at least inaccurate but many were completely misleading. Our stay was comfortable, staff were extremely polite and helpful throughout. The Buffet Breakfast was of a good standard and the young lady serving it was also polite and helpful. Whoever put the review regarding Asylum Seekers is obviously unaware of Sheffield’s multi-cultural community. On further trips to Sheffield, my family and I will definitely avail ourselves of this hotel again. Thank you to the new management and all staff (especially Ajeesh).

Needed a one night stay in Sheffield to visit my son at University Hotel was just right and as I came by train no problems with parking Room was large, clean and warm; with a comfy bed too Staff were friendly and efficient and the manager wished me a good day

One lift was out of order and in a bad way during our stay. Large brown wet stain on the carpet of one of the rooms we stayed in. Overall, it was comfortable but a tired building which could have been cleaner.

Check in was easy enough but the staff member was not enthusiastic or engaging with the customers. Pretty poor really as I’d booked as part of a conference group and if all delegates said the same then I’m sure they’d reconsider in future

On the website it said we could check in at 11 am. We couldn't not till 3 pm. On the website it said we could have free parking. No free parking ! Booked a twin room . We kept being asked by staff multiple times. Do we have a child ? After,the 3rd time it does get a little annoying!

Check in took 30 mins as one receptionist seemed to be texting someone to sort it out. Didn’t get a single apology for the inconvenience. In fairness, the room was clean but it was nothing to worry home about.

Not sure how this hotel justifies 3 stars, 1 star would be much more suitable. Check in was easy but that’s where the positives end. The ceiling of the bathroom was sagging, there was no house keeping, no shower curtain for the bath, “double bed” was 2 singles and had springs poking through, pillows were small and uncomfortable, coffee provided in the room was disgusting, the tv was too small to see from the bed but the remote didn’t work anyway, lifts were painfully slow, breakfast hosts were rude, breakfast choice was very limited, what was at breakfast wasn’t worth eating, building looks shabby, could hear people engaging in personal relations from across the corridor from the room and carpets in the room where covered in dust. Avoid this hotel at all costs. Not worth saving a small amount of money to stay in this dump

Stay was okay for one night but when I got there the receptionist said my booking was on the system after showing him my confirmation and my bank statement that the money is taken he wanted me to make another booking and pay for it again this took about an hour to resolve only to find he kept spelling my name wrong even though I had spelled it out for him he still refused about I didn’t pay it’s not showing up this caused a lot of plans to be held back which was disappointing also late check out is 10 pound but to stay till 1:00 he wanted us to pay 25 pounds Need new pillows caused those where disgusting also theses no plugs near the bed the lighting is very poor there’s no where of WiFi so you have to go back down to ask since they don’t answer there phone the whole place could do with a revamp

After checking in quickly there were only 2 beds in the room.but we booked 3. Immediately they swopped our room without fuss. The room had 3 single comfortable beds in. The bathroom was clean but slightly dated. There was a bit of dust at the side of the bed but i would recommend this hotel for 3 people to share a room. It was close to the town centre and walkable in about 8 minutes from the train station. It was value for money.

It was a little dated, needed an update. The area outside is very pretty, next to the river. Staff were available and helpful. Basic breakfast but still tasty.

Extremely dated building and rooms in need of a serious facelift. There was one tiny bottle of liquid soap for two guests, no shampoo or anything. Paint peeling off crappy laminate cupboards. Smell of stale smoke in the rooms. On the upside room was fairly large and the bed comfortable. It's the perfect hooker hotel

The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful and kind. 2nd time staying there and will definitely be back.
