AAA Marlin is an older property that has been refurbished recently. Older means bigger rooms, bigger bathrooms, and a full kitchen (not just a kitchenette.) Big bed was fairly comfy. Also has laundry facilities and a wee barbeque for guests to use. Friendly staff went out of their way to offer help.
Supermarket 7 min walking distance, handy for ferries too.

Reception friendly. Only there for 11 hours so can't really comment on anything else. I would stay there again

Very basic room with poor lighting. Lights by bed were set too low, hits your head. Other lighting barely improves your ability to see. Usual 'motel' vibe.

Stayed a night to catch the Ferry to Wellington. Room was very old, paper thin walls but big enough. Bathroom is out dated but for the price you can’t expect a five-star experience. Fine for a stopover, got a good night’s rest.
