My wife and I along with our 5 year old grandson stayed there for two nights. Excellent location with direct access from the room to the lake path. We had a water leak in the bathroom on our second day, which the owner sorted out quickly. The owner gave our grandson a goodie bag and gave us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience. Some parts of the property are in need of renovation, but the new owners are busily working through the renovations.

Cascades is pet friendly ( dogs allowed inside). It is right on the waterfront of lake taupo, the staff are super super helpful and friendly. The units are huge ( not brand new) but very clean and very functional and very pleasant. Highly recommend this place. Go there it's worth it.

Liked our stay here, great little path from the room down to the lake for a walk with our doggy, the room was laid out good, had everything we needed for a nice cup coffee and good nights sleep.
The bathroom was a little dated and could do with an in depth clean in some areas other than that we enjoyed our stay here the hosts were lovely and very accommodating.

We booked last minute through the Expedia app. The staff were extremely accommodating when we notified then of our late arrival and made arrangements for access after reception had closed.
When we arrived the heating was on, which was great because it got to - 3°C that night.
In the morning we discovered it was only a dozen steps down to the beach from our patio.
And of course great that the place is pet friendly!

We had a really great stay. The owner showed us how to use the controls etc. The heating was on when we arrived which was amazing! Really quiet and beds were comfy. Super clean and smelled so good

We were put in the unexpected poor designed room compared to the money we paid for, which is right at the end next to the spa pool with noise all the time. Also noise came from upstairs rooms during the night due to poor building structure that caused our interrupted sleep. A stupid thing is the bed is right next to the bathroom toilet door which made us feel uncomfortable and contaminated!! Definitely we will never come back again!
