Comfortable

Hotel was as expected maybe a bit tired in the public areas but comfortable and clean - room could do with a chair though - would stay again as location is very good and staff friendly and helpful but not until I was sure that the construction work next door was finished the jack hammer and odd explosion make the whole place shake not conducive to a relaxing stay which is a bit sad as there’s really nothing that the hotel can do about it

Had we known about all the construction going on outside prior to 3 days before arriving we would never have stayed there!!! My 87 year old mother, who needs a walker, travelled with us and it wasn’t a good situation. I’ve stayed here before and things have gone downhill . Homeless everywhere. In saying all this, the manager on duty after night one was amazing. She offered to refund us for the last two nights but we decided to stay as moving out would be 2 much for my mother!

There was construction goi g on, for which the hotel was apologizing for as soon as we arrived. IT WAS RIDICULOUS, and should have been on the booking info! It’s not right to expect guests to know how bad it is, Neil they hear it. Not something you want or expect on vacation.

The hotel room was fantastic. The restaurant Feast and Revel was horrible from start to finish. I waited over half hour for someone to come and take my order and more than another half hour for it to be delivered. There was zero acknowledgement of or apology for any of this. Just a complete absence of any customer service etiquette or even basic human decency. The food was disgusting! I left about 85% of it and happily went to bed hungry instead. The location is Byward Market which turned out to be an exceedingly trashy area! Apart from the hotel room, the experience was traumatic and all I wanted to do was get back home.

The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The hotel is in a perfect.location and walking distance to many shops, bars, and restaurants

The hotel itself is excellent. It is very close to the Byward Market. However, the rest of the neighbourhood is very sketchy, with people openly doing drugs on the street.

They did not clean the room properly. You can find stain on the cup mats, which meant they did not even changed it:) noisy as hell at night.

The hotel was classy, and clean. The staff was polite and friendly.

I spent two nights at Andaz with my wife. During our stay housekeeping did not visit our room once, not for bathroom cleaning, making the beds, emptying trash, refilling supplies, we were just abandoned. The towels in our room were frayed and had holes in them. An alarm in an adjacent vacant room went off at 6am and it took 20 minutes for staff to switch it off after we called. The bathroom fan did not work and we were told it was part of the air conditioning - clearly not the case. There was no hot water or heating overnight. We raised all this during our stay and on checkout and were met with a polite shrug. There is a giant building site right next door, which is not the hotel's fault, but maybe contributes to the polite, but "there's not much we can do about it" attitude towards service from the staff. Having spent many nights in hotels worldwide I think this was amongst the worst stays I have had. You'd have to go somewhere in the developing world to get the same and it's far below what I would expect in Canada's capital. I would strongly avoid Andaz until the building work stops and the hotels improves its service. Nice view from the upstairs bar.
