I did not like the misrepresentation on the property they have provided to this app. The town should not have this property as a representative for a stay when you arrive by ferry for the very first time. Other accommodations in the area are triple the price. The property is dangerous for safety. I am Canadian and the property is an embarrassment for travellers coming to visit this beautiful country in 2022.

The staff was outstanding and very welcoming. The accomodations were exceptionally clean. The location near the water and in the Arts District make it a gem.

Despite paying in full time for three nights I was denied accommodation as I could not pay a $100 security deposit at the decision of Dee the supervisor who the desk manager called to see if he could find a solution for me. I then witnessed the desk manager quit his job citing that he was made to sleep in a dorm, never given requested days off, and that he was disappointed with the lack of compassion demonstrated towards me. I stayed out on the street all night and as the funds from cancellation of the booking will take over 6 days to reach me I am now homeless until I am paid on Monday. DISGUSTED!!!! I won’t be using BOOKING.COM ever again ever as the information they provide in around payment is FREQUENTLY inaccurate meaning that the payment arrangement is frequently different on site.

I didn’t receive the accommodation that I had paid in full for three nights and as a RESULT WAS LEFT HOMELESS FOR THOSE THREE NIGHTS.

everything was so clean and the staff clearly work hard to keep that up! the kitchen/ living area was really nice and the showers were all private. staff are really friendly and more than happy to help with anything! would 100% recommend!

Neighbourhood

Great location if you are visiting Nanaimo as a tourist. Good kitchen facilities and common room. Upstairs and I don't think that there is an elevator. Walkable from BC Ferry at Horseshoe bay in about a half hour. Lots of restaurants and bars closeby and shopping mall.

Make sure you know the check in time is okay as reception has limited hours. You do get a door key after check in to access the building. The ladder to the upper bunk bed is a little difficult.

good location, really close to bus stop and ocean. staff super friendly and helpful for anything I needed. stored my luggage after checkout which was really useful. bathrooms were clean and the kitchen/communal area was nice

it’s in a good spot

There were not that many people in the hostel and tons of rooms, yet you still had to be in a room with someone else and it was $70 upgrade for a private. Thats $120 for a room on your own at a hostel- that is nuts. I’ve stayed at hostels all over the world and if you ask, they’ll give you a room on your own when the place is not that full. That is my honest opinion.
