Staff Was Not Friendly From The Valet To The Front Desk

The location was fine and the bed was soft

When I arrived I noticed that my shower had no door and the room hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. Throughout my stay I steadily found trash that was not created by me or my partner. The shower and bed had hair strands in it as if the sheets hadn’t been changed properly and the shower wasn’t cleaned properly. The shower had mildew in it and it was disgusting. My partner and I were celebrating an important milestone in our relationship so we didn’t have time to complain and decided to just write up a review about our stay. The staff didn’t clean the room the entire time we stayed which means we never got fresh towels or sheets during our stay which seemed unusual because house keepers usually knock daily to clean the room. We did notice the maids on our floor and they were extremely unprofessional but polite. They were on their phones which is fine if they CLEANED properly, and on top of that they were on speaker phone so I was able to hear their entire conversation. My partner and I left the hotel at around 10am for shopping and lunch and we returned around 5pm and the maids were literally in the same spot as they were when we left. This hotel is far too expensive for their to be issues with professionalism and cleanliness. I paid $614 for two nights and upon checking out I was charged an additional $287. I was told it would be refunded but this is impractical because I was already charged $614.. so why charge an additional night and then refund it. This led to my credit card over-drafting temporarily and I’m still waiting for my funds to return. Overall, I will never stay at a Westin by Marriott in Birmingham again. The best western is far cheaper and provided me with much more. Also, where’s the microwave in the room? Wayyy too expensive for such a poor experience.
