We loved the food, the hosts, the comfort of our little birds nest, the quiet, the amazing sunsets, the art in every corner, the unique necklaces I bought from Jack (I wear them every day since then and I just love them!)…

The owners were extremely accommodating! We just loved them both! They treat everyone like family and go above and beyond to make sure all your needs are met and make you feel comfortable. Expect to be in a setting full of the art decor and collections of used and unique items all around you. Must love dogs! Every room and area is decorated differently. This is not a conventional stay! so if you are creative and open-minded and like to make new friends this is the place for you.

Everything was great!

Very interesting location, very nice and interesting stuff. The location is exceptional. The place is also very clean, everything is there, but the price is a bit to high. But we got two glasses of good wine for free, we forgot to bring ours with us.

This is a gem in Death Valley.

I loved the location in the desert, making it possible to just walk into the dunes and enjoy the solitude.
The place itself far away from your average place to stay - it is an art installation, it is an experience, and it is a destination all by itself. The hosts are amazing: artists, cooks, hospitable hosts, and great story tellers.
Bonus: You can purchase art and take home with you!
It is a lot of stuff all around, that I personally would have liked to have seen cleaned up better. That being said: this is an art installation, in constant change, where I suspect most of the stuff should be considered part of the experience.

A special place really. In almost every aspect. The owners are very kind, caring and open-minded. They provide good food if you join them for dinner. And the whole place is laid-back, there is a lot discover.
Go there and find out for yourself. It's worth it.

This is an amazing place if you are looking for something very special that you will remember the rest of your life. If you are looking for a luxury hotel with amazing comfort, it's not for you.

Carlo and Jack were sooooo hospitable and lovely. The experience was wonderful. Hope to return someday
Plus dog friendly to the max
It was a little chaotic.

The decor was eclectic (largely thrift store finds, donations, or recycled materials)- not to my taste but maybe to others who like the artsy, shabby-chic vibe. You're supporting an artist's colony and creative use of recycled materials that would otherwise have been landfill. The managers were friendly.
The price advertised on Booking.com was $178/night. I ended up paying >$300. They charged $50 for my son who was traveling with us, plus $55 for a room cleaning fee, plus taxes, but I still don't get why the final bill was over $300 to stay in a tiny, converted trailer that stood just over 6 feet tall (no meals provided). There were spiders in the shower and tiny bugs flying through the trailer. There was no wi-fi in the rooms (only inside the office our outside the office window). The place was also hard to find- don't try to get there after dark because it would be impossible to find (plus they charge an extra $35 for checking in after 7:30pm). If you're looking for a hotel don't book this place- this is more of an off-the-grid retreat.

Carlo and Jack are vivacious hosts. The exotic hideaway's eccentric habitat juxtaposes wonderfully with serene, subtle beauty of the surrounding desert.

The oasis at Villa Anita is an eclectic surprise in the middle of the desert. We arrived during a beautiful sunset and were swept into the Villa by the host with open arms and a beautiful dinner. Words can not truly describe the intimacy of the esthetic they have created there. It's been a month since my stay and I still think about this incredible place regularly. I can't wait to go back. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, warm and decorated with surprising treasures from around the world. Our hosts were both intuitive and thoughtful and spent a lot of time ensuring that we were warm, fed, entertained and happy.
Had I known how much I would love the villa, I would have booked it for a 3-night weekend.

Villa Anita has an amazing assortment of art that creates an amazing ambiance in the desert for visitors. Each room/trailer has its own theme and you could spend hours exploring the facility and all of its wonders. We plan on coming back very soon! Carlo is an amazing host and an absolute joy to talk to. He and his crew genuinely care about the guests that stay here. 10/10

An artistic experience in a beautiful, secluded location. Dinner with the hosts was fantastic and we enjoyed the incredible stargazing every night. Even saw a SpaceX satellite pass directly overhead one evening (so cool!).
My partner kept hitting his head on the low doorway in our room. But hey it was part of the experience lol!

The breakfast is awesome. Both the hosts are super nice and welcoming.
As an architectural designer, it is a really interesting place to stay to see how a community like this works out!
I would say I don't have anything unsatisfied but if you are people that are looking for luxury living style this is not for you.

This is definitely a unique stay and experience! It's a great location from which to explore Death Valley and Tecopa, or just to relax in a creative space. We spent some time walking around the property and exploring all the many curated spaces. The room is really comfortable, with a great bed and shower. The staff were also lovely, and we had a great dinner chatting with the staff and other guests.

Fabulous creative oasis for those who are unbound from convention. The use of tapestries to create intimate spaces and shaded passageways is delightful, and Carlos' opulent collection of almost everything is displayed with color and panache. There are plants and divans and sitting places all around, so one can enjoy the indoor-outdoor delights. I was with a group of 6 adults and a dog, and we all loved our accommodations & the big yummy breakfast. The hospitality was wonderful, including (but not limited to) a terrific Pinot upon arrival after a long drive. I'm a big fan of the Tecopa area, and will definitely be back to enjoy Carlos (& Jack's) big vision of post-apocalyptic, up-use, re-cycled luxe.
Will you think me a rube if I don't criticize? This scene may not be fir everyone, but I & my family/friends found it fully fabulous. I even brought home a lovely cut-tin illuminated Xmas tree (everything's for sale and there's a lot!!) as a memento.

Great place and experience.....Booked on Booking.com but was assured this is not a hotel.....and it is not, what a great place to experience, including the owners.....if you do not have an interest in doing something different and out of your comfort zone don't go to this non-hotel. If you interested in something completely different....perfect.
Toilet smelled.
