Superb location within 50m of the beach. Super friendly staff, very comfortable beds, nice kitchen and common space room. It is very convenient to be able to rent the surfboards and wetsuits on site. Made several new friends!
There was nothing I did not like!

Nothing
Every time I book with this hostel I regret it. Me and several others that I've met hate going to California dreams hostels. This last time I spent my last to book with them for a third time and I was told I can't stay because I have a local area code. So I ended up stuck outside with no money and I still haven't received my refund.

The landlord was very polite and nice
Initially I was scared to sleep in one room with many people, but everything went smoothly, so nothing to complain. I might change the placement of the fan, so that it would not blow into the beds on the top level, and offer flipflpos to guests, but overall I got satisfied.

I didn't stay at the property at that time.
One of the staff refused to show me a bed by telling me that there is a sort of system issue' and they were still able to receive reservations via booking since there was 'no bed available' after I booked for 10 days. Be careful if you do not want this to happen to you too. The smallest hostel/hotel/Airbnb I have ever stayed in. Also, the volunteers and staff stay with the guests. Actually, most of the staff were volunteers. There were many of them in the rooms as well. They treat the place like their house. Some of them have been living there for a long time and got very comfortable with it which is a problem in my opinion for such places. The middle of the hostel is actually a food place. So, you need to around that all the time which is splitting the place into two different parts. They have a lot of cameras and the manager is a quiet and serious person at that time. Ignored me a couple of times when I attempt to talk with him. Not sure if this is a good way to manage the place. They have prejudices about a single travel man. I have been to many places in the world and many different hostels. From my experience, I can tell that this is not the way you run a place.

The location is good.
The staff attitude. They are not friendly and some of them the volunteers were even mean. They stay with the guests in the same rooms and give guests an attitude as if it is their room by sighing even if the guests make noise not more than 8 pm which is not their policy. Also, one of the volunteers misinformed me about the number of available beds on their premises. Then, I booked through booking and it went through. However, they said that it was a 'software' or 'system' issue. Also, they put parking signs behind the property in irrelevant places(parking lots for people with disabilities) and invade some other parking lots to keep other people away including you if you are not renting a private room.

Happy staff willing to help with anything.
Good breakfast plenty of everything.
Large community room for relaxing .
Refrigerator was a bit small for everyone.
Would have brought a towel if I knew.
Glad I had a bottom rack.
The upper one had a skylight and was very bright.

After unpackaging all my luggage and going to the beach... I go back to my supposed hostel for that night, and I discover that they cannot allow me to sleep there. The reason: I have a phone number from San Diego. One could understand that they not allow people from this city because they want a rich cultural experience. Funny fact: I am from Spain, and I was only in San Diego for a couple of months studying. Obviously I needed a phone number to have contact with the world.
Well, instead of amending the mistake and simply allowing me to stay in the bed I had booked with them for that night, they kick me out, rushing me because I was not allowed to be in that bed. Luckily there was a very nicer hostel near, the ITH, although a little bit more expensive, totally worth it just for the human quality, apart from many other things.
What if there were not any rooms left for that night in the other hostel? Would I have simply slept on the street?

Very modern place. Love the private beds and clothes hooks, shelf and outlets in every bed. Great location!
Here is things that owner should take notice and fix for a much better stay.
Furniture is horrible. The couch looks very comfortable but when you sit on 90% of it your sitting on hard wood or bars!! It killed my back. So hard to just relax there.
Also everyone complained about the beds! Were sleeping on metal springs.
This may be impossible to fix but it would have been so much better to have the toilet separate from shower!
When someone is in te shower for 40 min and you got 3 people in line to use the bathroom and you have to leave and waste time and trying to hold it is very upsetting.
And only 1 toilet for 14 people. Usually a house with 3 bdrms have 2 baths.
