A large, spacious house perfect for 7 youngsters to run about in and play hide-and-seek while parents and grandparents relaxed on the comfortable sofas!
The property sits in superb countryside with clear views to the Cairngorms and has a large garden area for outdoor activities.
Jean, the housekeeper, is friendly and very helpful and made it clear that she was only a phone-call away for anything whatsoever.
The Aga in the kitchen was not as hot as expected for cooking and took a bit of getting used to, but was a constant source of warmth nonetheless.
All the adults agreed that the house would benefit from a good spring clean but, as a holiday home for a week with children running in and out and leaving toys about, the dust didn’t detract from what was an enjoyable family break.

I consider this property is good value for money and is in a great location. The housekeeper Jean was very friendly and helpful .
It was a bit disappointing on this repeat visit to see that several badly misted up double glazed windows hadn’t been replaced - these have been in this condition for several years and they rather spoil the outlook from the main windows

15 friends spent a week at Biallid House in May. It proved to be one of the most popular venues we have ever stayed in on our annual trips to Scotland. The house is extremely spacious with good facilities and in many ways, quite luxurious. It's great to be able to cook and eat together with so many people and to relax together after dinner in comfortable surroundings.
The location is excellent for outdoor activities and just to enjoy the local area and its wildlife.
The booking and supporting admin were very helpful.

A lovely old manse (I presume) full of character, plenty of room to spread and chill, demon heating system and open fire kept us toasty. Amazing amount of wildlife in the garden and just up the path by the river ... All in very enjoyable

We (a group of nine) stayed at Biallid House in February 2024, and used it as a base for our winter climbing trip in the Cairngorm. It was warm and luxurious. The plumbing was a tad quirky - there were no showers, although I understand that the owners plan to rectify that soon. That didn't spoil our enjoyment of the stay, though, and we all appreciated the log fire and views from the front.

Comfortable house that suited our needs, good location. Ideal for large gatherings.
Unfortunately showers out of order, but plenty hot water. Good supply of wood for fire. Well equipped for cooking. Adequate fridge/freezer space. Would return for another stay.

We loved this property. It was amazing inside with lovely views. Seven bedrooms of varying standards, five bathrooms (only two showers) and two separate toilets, huge living area with well equipped kitchen. Grand piano and Aga cooker. Faded elegance and quirky is how I'd describe it. Some things didn't work but it didn't really matter. It sort of added to the charm. Ideal for large groups. Plenty of parking. The outside could do with painting and maybe a nice outdoor seating area. Jean the housekeeper is very helpful and friendly.

A wonderful location for exploring the Highlands. The village of Newtonmore has so much to offer by way of walks, exploring, pastimes such as golf and kayaking, etc. We ran out of time to do everything we wanted. The house was very comfortable and spacious, just right for our age range of 1 - 67.
We had brilliant weather for our week so the only thing lacking was garden furniture for sitting out of an afternoon/evening.
Jean the house manager was extremely attentive, ensuring our stay was as good as possible.
We are definitely thinking of returning another year.

Great location. House manager very helpful. Good house but problems with electrics and plumbing. When we booked the accommodation listed that there were showers located within the house......this was not the case none of the showers worked. When we reported this we were advised that the booking agent should have told us as you had been made aware of the issue....This was a problem as we had 2 elderly people (86 years old) who could not dafely get in and out of the deep baths. I am disappointed that you did not asvise of this issue.

From arrival to departure we had a great time, the house keeper Jean is a true great and will assist you mostly anything you need , or leave you in peace what ever you want, she is a font of knowledge about the house and local and far areas, we were a party of 11 and there was more than enough space for us all to have all the space we needed, all in a great house area and holiday,

We've had several family holidays and we all agreed Biallid was the best.

November Family Holiday!
We had a wonderful stay at Biallid House with our whole family ranging from 9 months to 72 years of age!
Booking was really straight forward with the Josue being excellent value for money, more than enough size to provide amazing living spaces for us all. Jean the housekeeper was fab! She was happy to help and provided lots of advice, plus the small care package on arrival was very much appreciated.
The house is very old and definitely lived in, cleanliness was adequate but could possibly do with a bit more of a deep clean on occasion. Really warm given it’s size and lovely roaring fire in the main living room. Kitchen was fully equipped for all our needs except randomly a shortage of teaspoons!
Lots of bedrooms that gave us each our privacy while all remaining under the same roof. Plenty toilets but a lack of showers with only 2 in the whole house. For 8 adults and 5 children this lead to a bit of a queue and some careful timetabling. One extra shower would be beneficial.
We had a wonderful stay and would love to return as it was perfect for us all in a superb location!

Old Lodge accommodation
Biallid is an old hunting lodge with quirky bedroom layout. The corridor passes through two bedrooms but there are doors to close them off. There is more than enough space for you potential 15 guests in four doubles, two twins and a triple. The living room and dining are is huge with old fashioned sofas and a very efficient fire. The house is dog friendly, just ask, and there is an efficient drying space, extra freezers, wine chiller and a very well equipped kitchen. It has a five oven Aga which maybe is not as hot as it could be but did the job. Area is spectacular for walks and Newtonmore a few minutes walk away. The house keeper is very efficient and I believe can also cook for you if you wish. Ideal family reunion space.

Worth a visit
Had a family get together here, ages ranging from 3 months to 64 years. House very suitable for this. Also a chat with Jean the housekeeper is a must, will fill you in on a brief history of the house, and coming and goings of certain VIPS.
Close to local town, pubs and restaurants.

A delightful home
A lovely home with good access to Cairngorms National Park. Has a very homely as the owners have furnished for themselves rather than for holiday lets. Jean the housekeeper was wonderful. We were a party of 7 and very much enjoyed our stay
We would recommend

A wonderful holiday home.
The house is an old family hunting lodge, with heaps of character. Easily enough room for 14 of us with everything we could need provided. Prehaps the only little thing was the small double room, gets very warm. Otherwise we all loved it.

Brilliant
We had a fantastic holiday and would definitely book again , Jean (house keeper ) went above and beyond to make sure our stay was exceptional . The house is full of character and set with amazing views and a great base for walking and not to far from town . Beds where comfortable and clean and kitchen fully functional and I loved that we could bring our dogs with no worries. Definitely try local meat. The wild cat trail was great fun for the kids and adults

Perfect Family Holiday
We had a really great family holiday here. The location was perfect for visiting attractions and the house and gardens were big and spacious with amazing views which was perfect for a family holiday while still giving everyone their own space. We had everything we needed. Jean was very friendly and welcoming and we will definitely be back. The history of the house was also very interesting.

Family Reunion week
Ideal house for a week of reunion of 4 families - 15 of us in all. Lovely welcome from Jean; very comfortable spacious house and good grounds at front for dog and children to play. Quiet off road location with superb views. Everything we needed for catering for the group was provided and shopping was easy with well stocked Coop in the village. Plenty of room in the house to spread around and very comfortable beds. Loads of baths / WCs; two over bath electric showers. Masses of hot water from a very efficient heating system. Location excellent for local walks or for reaching water sports at Loch Insh. The house had a wonderful feeling of being a well loved family home - it was a privilege to have been able to stay there. Our thanks to the family - and to Jean - for giving us a super week in such a historic property with such thoughtful equipping and and preparation.

Great house in excellent location
After discussing with all those who stayed during our week there was a general feeling that the bathrooms/toilets and kitchen could do with more thorough cleaning. Otherwise this is a great house for a family holiday.

Biallid House
Biallid house is a beautiful, stately old manor type home. The house was comfortable and perfect for the family members of the bride and groom to spend a few days together before their wedding. It is conveniently located to the Cairngorms and surrounding areas. Jean, the housekeeper, is a beautiful soul and was pleasant to chat with.
4.7
Plenty of hot water
The house was well heated, in fact, so warm in parts we had to open the windows in addition to turning off radiators. There was plenty of hot water immediately on tap which was great when you have 8 sweaty walkers all wanting a shower at the same time.n
We were a party of only 8, whereas the house could sleep about 16, and we could have done with more crockery. Otherwise you can’t make full use of the dishwasher.

Walkers Weekend
The welcome from Jean Wyld was wonderful. We all loved the location as there are plenty of hills to climb. It was warm and comfortable and the living room fire was great as it was a very cold weekend. The drying room was great for all the wet boots. There are plenty of toilets but perhaps a few more showers would be useful. we all had a very enjoyable weekend, thank you.

Fantastic house and location for family get together!
Biallid House perfect for family ages from 5-76! Everything you could need plus more. Jean gave us a warm welcome and a fabulous guide to the local area. Loads to do and see for all, the Wildcat walk kept us busy too. Need to change details on the web about the stables being next door they are now in Kingussie.

Groot vakantiehuis , prachtige ligging
Top week gehad

This house was perfect for our family getaway. There were 13adults, 4 kids and 2dogs that all went and the location and size of house was perfect, the kids thought they were in a castle. Plenty room and great facilities and the wood burning fire was amazing. Amazing memories and looking forward to returning next year.
