Friendly staff, clean room and nice breakfast

Very noisy location as our bedroom faced the main street. We just didn't envisage so much shouting and loud talking late into the night through to the early hours of the morning!

The rooms were beautifully decorated

The location was perfect, we had a view of the minster from our room , the (included) breakfast was excellent and the staff were great.

There were a lot of steep and narrow stairs, can’t be helped, it’s an old building!

The hotel itself was lovely just a little rough around the edges. The bonus for us was the restaurant just downstairs which we did have a great meal in and breakfast (although was cold) the next morning. The location was nice although don't stay here if you don't want to be woken by bin men at 4am luckily I wear earplugs. It was my partners birthday and there was a nice little surprise in the room for him which we did appreciate.

Our bathroom really needed updating . The tap on the basin wobbled, the shower door around the seals was actually quite dirty and the floor tiles were coming unstuck. The windows in our actual room wouldn't stay open (I know they were sash) but I think they are quite dangerous as one slam down and one of the window frames was completely rotten so that would of smashed completely. Just needed a little tlc

Rooms are exactly as described, Comfortable room size, quality bedding, excellent city location. Great breakfast, delicious evening meals reasonable prices for a city Center.

No parking on site, needed to park in local car park. All rooms up stairs, no lift. That’s it, every thing else was good.

Rooms were small especially the bathroom. The noise from the street, buskers and the Cathedral should be considered

Staff in hotel and attached resturant were very friendly and whenever anything was amiss (eg shower detached from support) it was immediately fixed. Hotel is ideally located for the Minster and other areas of interest eg (the Shambles). Breakfast was provided in the adjoining restuarant and was enjoyable although the choice was a bit limiting.

The room was on the small side but as we spent little time other than to sleep it was not an issue.

Windows need replacing. Secondary glazing can’t be opened. No air con so room could become in hot weather. Very steep stairs.

To be honest everything, staff are wonderful, hotel is cosy nice decor and a breakfast that is hard to beat. Lovely food, full Yorkshire English breakfast. Room rate Inc breakfast and location , the most central hotel in york is fabulous. Big thank you to all the staff.

Breakfast & evening meals were superb with accompanying level of service.

Our room overlooked the hotel entrance (forgot room number). The heating was off on arrival but the room soon warmed up. The bathroom, which still needs updating to a similar level as the rest of the room /hotel, had no heating at all and remained cold. This would not deter us from returning.

Room was really atmospheric (albeit slightly dated) in loft/roof with old beams. Also you need to be fit enough to climb 4 flights of stairs to get too.

The location is excellent

Because of its exceptional location its noisy however I bought earplugs so this wasn't an issue.

The hotel had a nice relaxed feeling to it, the staff were excellent and it's a great location.

My wife and I loved the place.Some of the features we're a little tired, however they are making improvements and it doesn't detract from the hotel, its staff and its location

Location is fabulous. Hotel is small but the rooms are roomy, there is a handy restaurant attached with the best pancakes in the am. Staff was nice and helpful.

There are stairs but who needs an elevator when you are just around the corner from the Minster?
