Our stay was a real 5-star experience, thank you to the welcoming and extremely attentive hosts, Vincent and Julian, that made us feel at home throughout our stay. They went the extra mile to make sure we had all the comfort during our stay and all the information needed to explore Hastings and the surrounding area. The whole property is stunning: the interiors of a very high standard and the personal touch in the decor make the place really unique and welcoming. The whole place mirrors the beautiful nature of the hosts, their interesting lives, and their fascinating personalities. The bedrooms are spacious and fully equipped with any kind of necessity (fan, hair-dryer, safe, luxury toiletries, etc.). The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet, we slept like a king and queen. The location is very good, convenient for train travel and for exploring Hastings on foot. To top it all, the breakfast offered is very generous and a real treat, prepared with premium ingredients and care. We cannot wait to be back.

We had a fabulous weekend at Black Rock House. The property is beautiful and immaculate. The hosts are marvellous, they went over and above to make us feel welcome. We assumed Vincent was a professional chef, the breakfast was out of this world! We were given many recommendations around the local area so found ourselves with lots of exploring to do, of which Black Rock was a perfect base, walkable to all the local attractions and great restaurants! I was overwhelmed by the quality and attention to detail of everything at Black Rock House, this made our holiday. Thank you for having us, we’ll be back!

We loved the location, the decor, the attention to detail, the powerful shower, the hot bath, the sitting around the table and having breakfast with other guests whilst exchanging stories with Vincent. We cannot recommend this Hotel enough but it’s made even better by the way that Vincent and Julian run it. Please never stop being your lovely selves.

Having to leave!!!

Room was adequate, clean, well furnished, quiet and warm. The bed was comfortable. The shower was modern, clean and efficient. The breakfast was exceptional.

For those who find it difficult to climb steps, or walk up a hill this is not the best hotel to chose.

The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. The owner was the best hist ever, couldn't have been any more helpful. Fantastic all round..

Just an observation ; not being a breakfast person it would have been nice to have the option of a room only tariff.

The location is near the station and a fairly short walk from town. However, the property is up a very steep hill and this made it quite difficult to walk to. Good exercise though and the owners drove us to the station in their car at the end of our stay which was great. Of course, Hastings is a very hilly place so I think most people get used to the climbs!

We booked last minute to celebrate our "short" honeymoon. Everything was perfect, we couldn't be more satisfied and happy than this. Vincent, the owner, is a lovely person who cares about every single detail. Breakfast is served in a beautiful room and it was delicious 😋 I can definitely say we found a hidden gem in Hastings and we will definitely be back and spread the word about this amazing place.

Superb breakfast. We had a lovely stay in a beautiful property

Comfortable bed / linen, silent fan, lovely sash windows open and fresh, wonderful generous breakfast functioning as brunch, helpful gracious host, only 10 mins walk from the station, lovely interesting interior and Aesop products a bonus.

A sea view - but then we didn't pay for the sea view which is available at the front of the house. Nice garden view though.
