Asela was the perfect host for a truly authentic stay in Sigiriya we could not recommend his lovely home enough! He gave us so much tea and fresh fruit from his garden (even willing to not charge) he took us to a local temple, local food places and even to spot wild elephants. Superb service from a great man, thank you Asela!

Just a caution to be prepared for mosquitoes in the area generally as it is dense jungle.

Extremely recommended! The family who run the Lodge is warm and kind. You feel like home. Clean, beautiful and very quiet. Breakfast is tasty. One of the best places in Sri Lanka to stay.

An amazing experience of living basically inside a jungle. Asela, his family and their super friendly and protective doggo named Shadow made our stay special. Decent location travel-wise. Beautiful garden and secluded dining area. Tasty, homemade brekkies. Hosts are doing their best to accomodate all needs you might have. Very informative and clearly explaning everything.

Not a negative per se, but bear in mind this place is located in the middle of a wild forest. Bring earplugs since the jungle can get loud at night! If you hear a loud bang - don’t prepare for combat - it’s just locals who try to scare away wild elephants roaming nearby. Once again - we did not consider this a negative, it only added an extra spice to this experience :)

Freedom lodge can be named as the best place to stay for tourists coming to Sri Lanka. Thanks for everything.It is located in a very convenient place to visit tourist places.

The family that owns the property are extremely accommodating and make sure you have everything you need at all times. The location is off the busy main road and quiet (besides the dogs barking once in a while). The accommodation is spacious, comfortable and mostly mosquito free unless they sneak in behind you when entering the room. Did I mention that you even get hot water! We had a scooter so for us this was the perfect place to stay. Don’t worry if you don’t have a scooter the owner is a tuk-tuk driver so he can probably get you to where you need to be if he’s around. We will definitely be back to visit in the future.

This was a highlight of our trip, one of the best places we stayed. The owners are very nice, we had delicious sri lankan breakfast and unlimited mangoes as it was a season. The owner looked after us very well, he suggested places to see and in what order should we proceed, then he arranged us lifts and everything we needed without trying to overcharge us. The place itself is very nice and quiet in the middle of nowhere. We enjoyed quiet nights on the patio outside.

The only thing is that it is a bit hard to find however if you phone the owners they will come pick you up to the main road so you don't have to wander and get lost :)
