Very clean, comfortable and quiet rooms. Large. Stayed only for night solo so its OK for the purpuse. Breakfast is delicious altho very limited ! I supose location is superb if visiting Kastav.
Only reason Im not highest score - Parking. When I arrived there, receotionist was nice and after opening ramp showed me were to park. Tomorrow morning I found warning ticket on my windows regarding parking from communal security Kastav altho I parked exactly where I was told by stuff. So I assume they have issue with local authorities regarding parking places for customers.

Friendly staff, big spacious stylish room. Great breakfast - including freshly squeezed orange juice. Good, solid comfortable beds. Large, well equipped bathroom. Quiet at the night. I thorougly enjoyed my stay.
Kukuriku was kind of hard to find. They sent instructions but of course I didn’t read them. Follow the instructions and you’ll find there. Address in Google Maps doesn’t work.

The hotel is very authentic, decorated with style and in accordance with its great history. The staff is very polite and professional. The food was exceptional. We liked everything. Kastav itself is fully worth a visit, with its wonderful paths around the hill, having a breathtaking view of the horizon.
We liked everything, the experience altogether was unique.

we stayed at Kukuriku because we also had a dinner there. the dinner was really nice.
maybe our mistake, but we expected more. from the hotels website and from the Lonely Planet guide got the impression that the hotel would be more luxurious. the hotel was nice and comfortable, but not luxurious. There were some small things not in line with our expectations, like the plug in the bath not working, no coffee/tea making set in the room and the very minimalistic interior with the electrical switchboard in full sight.

The best hotel we ever had! We enjoyed the spacious very well designed room equipped with high quality furniture and large bathroom with large bathtube. At every corner you notice love to detail. It is really magical atmosphere out of the window on the square in front of the hotel especially in the evenings when live music plays. The very pleasant staff will arrange everything you need. There are free parking lots in the city behind a nice church ruine.
We would give 20 points if it would be possible!

I first discovered this hotel https://kukuriku.hr/ with renowned chef, Nenad Kukurin, in a New York Times article dated Jan-22-2006, that I’ve held onto since then! It’s taken me this long to get here, but better late than never; Nenad and his wife Tamara are the most wonderful hosts, and their hotel, a former school renovated into a top end, stylish, artistic and classic hotel, is perfect in every way! I had breakfast and dinner on the beautiful courtyard terrace for three days and nights, and all were excellent. I certainly hope to return!

Very elegant, excellent breakfast, big rooms, special style.
Difficult to get there. In a beautiful village, on top of the hill, not easy access

The bathroom, more specifically the bathtub was awesome. The bed and the room were also great and huge. Loved the interior, we felt like we were staying in a castle. We had breakfast included in the price and the food was delicious. The location is also perfect as its in the center of Kastav.
We had some troubles with parking as it was a small parking lot so we had to move our car two times, however the staff was really polite about it.

Excellent location in Old Town Kastav, with private parking. Modern design of the rooms, with spacious bathroom. Good reliable wi-fi. Restaurant attached to the hotel makes it very convenient for fine dining. Breakfast was excellent.
Light switches were confusing in controlling individual rooms and staff seemed confused as well about the switches. Hot water for the rooms lacking on the night we stayed.

Incredibly nice and spacious room. The comfort of the bed and the room, in general, was top-notch. The hotel is pretty nice, has a sweet familiar/boutique vibe, and is located in a lovely square. Breakfast was not excellent, but they do cook your eggs and squeeze fresh orange juice for you
There were 2 main things not working: the handle of our room door, and (most importantly) no hot water during our 2 night stay due to a failure in their boiler. While we do understand that things may break and hotels may have issues, what we did not like at all was the way that the staff handled it:
The young man checking us in knew about the door of the room not locking until you did a trick with the handle, because it was broken, but he did not mention anything even after escorting us to the room. It was not until we struggled to lock our door for a long time and went to him again that he said that yes, it was broken, and showed us a trick to get the door locked by grabbing the handle in a certain way, he said they needed to fix it. Again, I have no issues with something being broken... but if you know about it, tell us without us needing to ask for it.
Even worse with the lack of hot water. When we went down to him to ask for it, the same thing happened: he admitted knowing that there was an issue with the boiler and knowing that there was no hot water. He should have let us know about it as soon as we checked in on a night with 7 Celcius of temperature. But instead, he just waited until we asked about it. The following morning, we reported it to the woman at the front desk, who said that they were trying to get that fixed. That second night, it was not fixed, and the guy who seemed the owner apologized and said that we would definitely get compensated for that (either a discounted pricing, or a restaurant discount, or a bottle of wine... he would figure it out). That night, we had dinner in the restaurant, paid our bill, and went to bed (no shower for the second night in a row). The following morning, during checkout, the woman at the front desk billed us the full price of the booking, saying that we were compensated last night with a discount on dinner (which never happened), and that she was unable to make a discount. So the promise by the owner was not met
