We stayed at this cottage and found it badly in need of upgrades across the board. Soft beds with mattresses caving in at the center were nearly impossible to sleep in. The bathroom had a horrible smell, peeling paint, and a shower head well past its life-cycle with shower caddy duct taped to it. The rug in the living room was old and dirty. The kitchen was tiny with little to no counter space and dominated by an over large microwave oven. Some TLC would go a long way here. The cottage is coasting on excellent location and the fact that it has laundry facilities.

We enjoyed our stay at Fernwood. Great location near downtown Glen Arbor and the Crystal River. Comfortable cabin for 4 adults. Kitchen was tight, but had the basics for ability to make yummy hot breakfasts. Just set smoke alarm off once, placed a fan to make sure that didn’t happen again. Beds were very comfortable. Enjoyed the fire pit twice. Had deer and a Pileated woodpecker in the yard. Appreciated the washer and dryer. Communication from Visit Up North was fantastic and very thorough! Great cabin to use as a base while enjoying this beautiful area.

This rental is in a great location with easy access to Glen Arbor, Crystal River, Sleeping Bear National Park, and Glen Lake. We arrived to a clean cabin with 2 cozy bedroom and a small kitchen.
My only concerns are with how we received our rental policies. First, our welcome email arrived 2 days before our check-in. We began traveling 4 days before check-in, and this email included new policies that would have changed our packing list had we received them further in advance.
When we arrived, we found more additional policies, particularly around pet care. We would have to cancel several of our plans to follow this new information, which was not in our rental agreement. We ultimately decided these guidelines were non-binding, but it was unsettling to receive all this new information immediately before arrival.
My recommendation to management would be EITHER to disclose ALL guidelines and policies as part of the rental agreement, OR make clear that any additional policies are suggestions and non-binding.

Everything is a miss match. Over looking a river: not.. over looking orange canoes. Yes a short walk to shops and places to eat. This picture shows the side of the property not 3 trash cans as you pull up to the property. The cleaning team does a great job. Owners not so much. Repairs and paint needed. 1400.00 for four nights was not the quality that we excepted,even in prime season.

The location was good, loved the wooded back yard and loved being close to town. However, after reading the positive reviews about cleanliness we were very disappointed because it was not clean. There was also a horrible smell that required the use of 2 entire cans of lysol. There is black mold and rust on the refrigerator, food scraps in the cupboards and drawers, dirt in the corners, unclean surfaces, dirty rugs, etc. There was no wood for the fire pit and be sure to bring soap, shampoo & conditioner, blow dryer etc. No internet. Simple directions for using the TV would be helpful.
We love rustic, but unfortunatly the cabin needs cleaning, freshening, and simple basic fixing up. We found the bed to be VERY soft and mushy and the "additional" non-refundable cleaning fee for pets was much higher than the industry norm, especially for a tiny 4 pound non-sheding dog.
We are in the area on a regular basis but unfortunatley we would not stay here in the future. Wish we could have provided a better review...

Glen Arbor is a nice little town, but the rental we stayed in was well run down and lacking in kitchen space. No where to place groceries or prepare meals. Washing machine and dryer were old and run down. Traffic was noisy and many cars and trucks line both sides of the street in front of the house. It was a good location to depart for other locations in the area. We felt the price was too high for what we got.

We liked that it was close to town, that it had a gas grill, that the beds were comfortable, and that it had counter storage in the room with the washer and dryer—for all of our beach things and extras.

Great location, very convenient to downtown GA. Off a busy road and gettyng to the beach meant walking on this busy road. Cabin had all the essentials including washer and dryer and was comfortable but could use a little TLC. Mattresses need to be replaced. Fire pit was a bonus.

Seamus loved lying on the porch and watching the people walk or bike by on the road. There were deer to enjoy in the yard most days. Place was very quiet at night. We slept with the windows open and we never do that at home.

This property is in dire need of a complete overhaul. Window treatments would not allow airflow even if you could open the windows. Fridge next to the stove was rusty. No air con. Furniture was antique. Roku is awful. Mini hot water heater, take a quick luke warm shower. Most uncomfortable couch & chairs

Great location
The cabin was super conveniently located - close to everything (walking distance to shops, restaurants, and kayak rentals though close to a busy road). It was a cozy cabin that was very clean and exactly what we expected based on the photos. Deer visited the property in the evenings. The beds were a little soft for our preference, but we would stay here again.

This is our second year staying here. The cabin provided everything we needed for the week. Centrally located in the Sleep Bear Dunes, it allowed easy axis to all the hiking trails. We also enjoyed the short 5 minute walk to Glen Arbor for dinner, wine tasting or a quick trip to the grocery store. Many evenings we walked to Lake Michigan to enjoy the incredible sunsets. Minimum Roku live tv, but Net Flix is provided.

We had a very nice stay at Fernwood. Nice little cabin with very comfortable beds. We enjoyed being within walking distance from Glen Arbor. The Crystal River is not very accessible on the property. It is deep, mucky, and lots of downed trees. We were able to play in it down the street though. Lots of nice beaches nearby as well.

The other issue was the outside grill. It was filthy!! We had to purchase a grill brush just to clean the grates to make it usable. We had invited guests for a cookout and were aggravated about the work we had to do before serving dinner.Overall this is a wonderful little cabin. We have seen the condition deteriorate over several years and hope the owners to more to maintain this property.
