We spent an amazing week at the cottage at the end of June 2023. The owners are a lovely couple who welcomed us and proudly showed us the cottage and their gardens. They shared with us the how they arrived at the village of Abbotsbury on the back of a scooter, their history of owning the cottage, and the hard work of transforming the cottage and the gardens into the beautiful place it is. The cottage itself is spacious, well presented, and equipped with everything you need for a relaxed stay. The location of the cottage is great and provides easy access to the village of Abbotsbury with various amenities, to good footpaths through the surrounding countryside, and down to Chesil beach. We found the cottage perfect as a base for days out, however, we would have been content to stay at the cottage and enjoy its facilities, local walks, and gaze out of the window at the beautiful rolling Dorset countryside, and the various animals in the fields. It was a sad moment when we came to leave and our 3-year old daughter was very upset that she had to leave her ‘little holiday house’ and all her new friends (soft toys provided by the owners). But her tears were soon turned into big smiles as Val and Brian showed the most amazing kindness to her. We cannot wait to return as Val and Brian are so lovely - it was like spending a week staying with family!

Val and Brian welcomed us with such welcoming smiles, the cottage was beautifully clean with everything you need and felt like home, the garden is beautiful and we loved spending our summer evening watching the sunset and birds, Val and Brian provided an amazing welcome pack to start us on our hoilday, the village itself was very friendly and we felt like locals at the end of our holiday. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, we will definitely return to the cottage.

There is nothing to dislike at this holiday cottage, everything was perfect

It was a perfect place for peace and quiet. The pastures of sheep switched out with cattle at one point, and the view of St Catherine’s castle atop one of the rolling green hills added to the ambience. The village of quaint thatched roof cottages and shops was only a 7 minute walk away. I loved it. Val and Brian were wonderful hosts.

Nothing

I love the view from the cottage of rolling green hills and the paths to historic St Catherine’s on top of one of those hills nearby. A short walk to the Swannery is appealing, although it wasn’t open during my stay, and a 7 minute walk to the beautiful village and shops is great. The quaint tea rooms and 2 historic pubs for meals and drinks away from the cottage are available. My 90 days in the cottage flew by too quickly.
