We drove to a different beach/bay each day and hung out at the pool. Family dinners in the villa. A wonderful week.

Pool is incredible. View is completely beautiful! House is great. Highly recommended!

General thoughts: -Driveway can hold 3 cars, but requires some maneuvering to drive out forward. -Recommend larger kitchen garbage can. -Thanks to Nellie. She got another coffee pot for our large group.

Property is amazing, great space for 4 couples. The VIEW!!! St. John is breath taking, everyone, even beyond the property is so focused on an amazing vacation. We had one small issue and the property manager had it corrected in 20 minutes. Will book again, no hesitation! Great communication with the people that manage this property!

The property is amazing! The views are absolutely stunning and the pictures online don’t give it justice. The game room was super fun with pool, darts and fuse ball. We need some lights fixed and a couple items for the kitchen & the property management was so responsive! We can’t wait to go back.

Great house with tons of privacy even if you have a large group since it is so spread out. Pool deck and view is unreal. Highly recommend. About 5 mins from Cinnamon Bay which in my opinion is the best beach on the island.

This property is fantastic and suited our group perfectly. We stayed here for a week with all of our adult children. We had 8 people total and it slept everyone very comfortably. When we weren't on the gorgeous beaches, a lot of time was spent having cocktails in the pool and enjoying the view overlooking Tortola. The location has easy access to the numerous beaches and hiking trails on the island. A jeep rental is highly recommended so you can explore the whole island. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc. There is AC in each room which kept us comfortable at night. Another perk is the whole house sound system that easily connects to your phone via bluetooth. Overall, we highly recommend this property. We made many new memories with our family!

The property had an amazing view - it was beautiful! Like living at a resort.

The pool was amazing, the deck, the view, the location were all incredible. The owner bought a high chair and baby gates for us and for the property, which was super awesome. We used both daily and were very appreciative. Other guests will also be grateful I know. And if that’s all that mattered this property would be 5 stars. But unfortunately we did need more than the above and this property just wasn’t what we are used to for the $$$$/night. It is very outdated, dark, and dank. The beds were so uncomfortable: so hot (memory foam), & WAY to soft. I would lie awake and count hours until I could reasonably wake up. And I am a very easy going person, but I was literally miserable. And we had to kill 2 tarantulas in the house, and countless jumping spiders…we are all for enjoying wildlife (which is abundant surrounding the property), including creepy crawlies outside, but seeing gigantic spiders in your bedroom and bathroom was more than we could enjoy. If you were traveling with enough couples to occupy every bedroom at this property it would be very reasonably priced and the pool and location and coolers, chairs, etc that are provided would be super awesome and I think would make this property a total winner. But for our family, occupying literally 2 bedrooms in the main house only…with all the issues I’ve mentioned it was just too expensive for what it is. We are used to swankier accommodations at that price/night.

Million dollar view!

Our group of 8 seniors loved this property! The views were spectacular from every room (especially the pool). The was plenty of space to be together but also lots of areas for private time. The property manager was very responsive to our needs. A good tip is to rent a jeep to make it easier to get the house and around St. John.

This property is fantastic. Views are amazing. Neighborhood is peaceful, safe, and quiet. Location is close to all the northern beaches. Property management is great. Quick to respond to any questions. This place is totally worth it.

We absolutely loved Island Stones! From the fabulous communication and coordination with the grocery delivery and the friendly and on top of it greeter, Kat, the check-in process was very smooth. The property does not disappoint. The pool is just as shown in the pictures with a great bar and outdoor sound system. There were only 4 of us so we tried out multiple rooms in the house and all the beds were comfortable. The fabulous outdoor shower for each bedroom is unique. The kitchen is very well-appointed. We never used the game room but could tell that with a larger crowd, particularly if children were in the group, having that separate hang-out space would be great. We all had such a great week on St. John and cannot wait to return!!

Beautiful view but the house Extremely dirty and i mean dirty everywhere. House keeper came over 1 times over 7 days stay. Toilet didn’t flush, A/C broke, bedroom was hot can’t sleep. Good luck if you choose to stay here. I won’t come back again.

Island Stones is a very well designed older home in the hills of St. John. A very comfortable place for several people.

Island Stone is an absolutely beautiful property up the mountain from Cinnamon Bay. The architecture in this home is phenomenal, you have to see it to believe it. Each room is gorgeous, beds are very comfortable and the added bonuses of the game room and exercise room were great. The road getting up to the home is quite steep and had some drainage ditches so I would recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Will (the property manager) and his wife were absolutely wonderful and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and having a great time and that all of our needs were met. Thank you!

The property and the views are incredible. The reservation and booking procedures were straightforward and efficient. We did experience some issues with electrical and plumbing during our stay but the property management was responsive and interim solutions were rapidly implemented.

My family just returned from a week at Island Stones. I have traveled a good deal, but have never encountered such an architecturally-interesting house on such a stunning site. The house reflects the stone building tradition of St. John. The floor plan offered our large group, consisting of myself and my wife, our three children and their spouses, and all our grandchildren, complete privacy. At the same time the Great Room and pool deck were wonderful gathering places for our entire group. Views from the house are stunning. It looks down on Cinnamon Bay with Tortola and Jost Van Dyke in the background. The pool deck view should be on the cover of a travel magazine. At night, the distant island lights were a pleasure to see, as was the full moon rising over the mountains. The central location is another plus. We could easily reach Cinnamon and Maho Bays for swims, and it was only a ten-minute drive to reach all the restaurants and shops in Cruz Bay. Everyone in our family, which ranged in age from two to sixty-nine, had a wonderful week at Island Stones. Staying there was one of the best experiences we have ever had.

Island Stones is an architectually-beautiful house on the most spectacular house site I have ever seen! The layout of the en-suite bedrooms provided absolute privacy for the members of our family; while the public spaces of the living room, dining room, kitchen, and pool deck were spacious and wonderful for gathering. The view from the pool deck was mesmerizing.....worthy of the cover of a travel magazine. Everyone in our family enjoyed Island Stones. We were all sad to leave, but are already looking forward to coming back.

I have been visiting St. John for over twenty years now, and what brings me back year after year is a certain unique and almost intangible magic about both the island and the people who live there... a sense of authenticity, and of welcoming, and of gracious hospitality. Island Stones, and our stay there, was an almost miraculous embodiment of all these qualities! Built in the style of the old plantation ruins found around the island, the beautiful stonework and dark woods are simultaneously awe inspiring and warm, spectacular and yet cozy! Staying here feels like being a part of the island's rich history. The common spaces, in the wonderful great room (open to the kitchen) and especially throughout the expansive outdoor areas around the pool, are all somehow wonderfully open and yet also intimate and comfortable at the same time. We felt close to each other, but also very much a part of the beautiful island around us. The bedrooms, each one its own master suite, are all large and feel unexpectedly and welcomingly private. Each has a lovely private bathroom, with an outdoor shower, and a private balcony... and, of course, that view! From nearly every inch of this spectacular house, from the great room and the pool deck to the bedrooms and private balconies and even the outdoor showers, the views out across the famed north shore of the island to the turquoise waters below and then out to the British Virgin Islands beyond in the distance are breathtaking to say the very least! Somehow, as amazing as they are, the pictures are just not able to do justice to the reality of this uniquely lovely property! Yet for all it's marvelous splendor, this incredible house feels very much like a home to which you've returned... well-furnished and well-appointed and well maintained in every way! The listing was, if anything, conservative in describing the property... never have I had such high expectations exceeded like this! We worked directly with the owners, and their son, and found them to be wonderfully kind and helpful to say the very least... to say that they provided "good customer service" would be an understatement. They made us feel welcome and looked after in a way that I think most only be possible after having hosted families like ours for many many years and demonstrates a great understanding of the island and its tradition of warm hospitality. They are consummate hosts! I cannot possibly recommend Island Stones highly enough!

Well appointed villa with the Islands best views.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place! My husband and I stayed for a week at Island Stones in February (Valentine's Day week 2018). You would hardly know that the villa had been through two significant hurricanes; as the name indicates, it was constructed with island stones and concrete - it seems very sturdy, to say the least. The villa is beautiful and comfortable. The most striking feature of the place is, of course, the view - words, and even the photos, can't really do it justice. We would spend hours just lounging by (and in) the pool gazing out at the view without even realizing (or caring) how much time had passed. The infinity pool was also one of our favorite features of the place. It's creatively and thoughtfully designed with seats/tables for drinks, and is deep enough and big enough to do some actual lap swimming as well as to just linger along the edge taking in the view. (Keep in mind that you are up high and will have cool breezes - which is great for keeping bugs away, among other things! - so the pool may feel a bit brisk at times, so you may want to swim during the times of day when the sun is warmest.) The villa can be accessed off of either Centerline or North Shore road (via a road that is a mix of bumpy/rutty and paved), so the location is a great mix of convenience and feeling like you're in your own little world. It's very private. The family who owns the place (who are off-island but work with an on-island property manager) were all very nice and helpful in making sure everything about our stay went well and that we were happy. They even managed to set up a wifi system for us at a time when Internet access on island is still sketchy post-hurricane. We had a fantastic week there and can't wait to return next winter! (Moving in there permanently might be even better, but I'm not sure that's in the cards....)

I can't say enough how wonderful our stay was at "Island Stones". The amenities at the villa were second to none. The views throughout the property were postcard material. We had a group of 4 couples that all had outstanding master suites. Whether it was relaxing in and around the gorgeous pool, listening and playing music, or enjoying fun evenings in the game room, there was plenty to do for all. The location was perfect. We felt like we were in our own private hideaway, yet access to Cruz Bay and the north shore beaches was convenient. This was clearly a vacation for the ages and we are looking forward to a return trip to the island in the future. When we do, "Island Stones" will be our choice for accommodations.

Had a wonderful family vacation.

The view is so wonderful, it is never the same as the sunlight and cloud shadows change. The saltwater pool was the place to stay, play, relax...... The property is surrounded by lush tropical plants, flowers, birds, and island sounds. Very private, there were other homes but you couldn't see them. The home has unique craftsmanship, very island style and tasteful, it is arranged in a neat way, each bedroom is situated with a feeling of privacy with private entrances and most have views. We found the home clean, the property manager and owners were very responsive whenever we had questions. There is an endless variety of activities on the island and the other islands, but coming back to the house and the pool was never disappointing.

The pictures/description of Island Stones set expectations high. Were still blown away during the property tour. Have already inquired about renting again next year.
