We enjoyed a second wonderful holiday at Hathersage, the perfect place for 3 generations including 2 toddlers to stay, providing everything we needed and more. The location, space, garden, toys and playhouse were really appreciated by us all!

This is an amazing house in Brockenhurst village. Great location for exploring the New forest and within walking distance to pubs and restaurants. We travelled to the coast, the surrounding villages and to lots of lovely walks including a 5 mile walk around Brockenhurst. The house is spacious, has everything a family could need and is very quiet and homely. Our children loved the playhouse and we loved the bright kitchen and living area. Alison was very responsive and helpful with recommendations. We would love to come back again!

Attractive and very well equipped family house
The house was in a brilliant position in a quiet road very near the station and near the village shops. It was the most well equipped house I’ve ever stayed in with a great range of kitchen and garden equipment and a fantastic selection of toys for children of all ages. The garden was perfect for two infants, lots of grass and well enclosed and there was room in the Wendy house to store our bikes. So everyone was happy!

Amazing property
We have just spent a wonderful week with our family at Hathersage Cottage and we can't recommend it highly enough - we arrived to a vase of fresh flowers, a generous welcome basket and a handwritten note from owners Alison and Jeff that really set the tone for the stay.
The house is clean, quiet, comfortable and equipped with everything you could possibly ever need. The location couldn't be better, it's near to Brockenhurst station, the shops, pubs and restaurants and lots of great forest walks and bike rides.
It's the perfect base for exploring the New Forest and surrounding areas. We look forward to returning to this lovely home away from home.

Perfect holiday home to enjoy the New Forest.
Hathersage is the most wonderful place to stay, perfectly placed in Brockenhurst, in a quiet road but near shops, restaurants, pubs and the all important forest, with ponies and donkeys wandering nearby. The house has everything you thought you might need and more with every detail, from a welcome hamper to all home comforts and the beautiful decor. Alison was the perfect host ensuring we were comfortable and on hand to answer any queries. We enjoyed a fantastic, much needed holiday walking, cycling and visiting the local area with a warm welcoming house to come home and relax in.

Great place to enjoy the New Forest, easy walk to Brockenhurst, fantastic family space.
The pictures and description do not do this property justice, so clean, comfortable and hospitable for a range of interests and activities.
Our party consisted of all adults to celebrate my husband’s 60th. Not being party animals we just wanted somewhere where we could all enjoy being together without being on top of each other and this certainly fit the bill.
Easy walking to Brockenhurst where there are plenty of shops to browse around and fabulous access to cycle paths mostly avoiding the roads. Lovely walks close by and in the middle of the beautiful New Forest and all that it has to offer.
The accommodation was clean, tidy, well equipped and very comfortable. With the big kitchen/diner/sitting room we barely used the other sitting room apart from my daughter who had to work for three days. WiFi was brilliant, fast and reliable despite there being 7 users in the household. The family room was warm (as was the rest of the house), bright and comfortable, plenty of space for us all to socialise. Bedrooms were beautifully presented, lovely bed coverings, comfortable pillows and as it was a quiet street no problems with any noise!
Although there were 7 of us we never ran out of hot water, fridge freezer had plenty of capacity to store food, washing machine and tumble dryer and thoughtful additions such as dishwasher tablets for a daily dishwashing and washing power for a wash made us even more appreciative of all the home comforts that you often miss in a rental property.
The garden was beautiful, a summer house at the end of the garden had some children’s outdoor toys in and lots of solar lights to give it ambiance in the dark. A huge garden table and patio was also provided but as it was late November we did not eat out there or use the barbecue!
Games and books also provided in case you forget to take your favourites as well as a small tool kit, first aid kit and lots of local information. Lots of things for children to amuse themselves with too although we did not use these.
For a family gathering I would definitely say “just book it” as you will not regret it.
Thank you to the lovely host and hostess who kindly checked I had received emails, sent access codes and also sent a reminder to pop the bins out on bin day but were not invasive in their communications.

Fantastic family focused house in heart of the New Forest
We had a wonderful 8 nights in Hathersage over the October half term. The house was perfect for us (4 adults and 2 children under 6 and 3 generations) and so many extras were thought about including extra care related to Covid safey and those who may be less mobile. We really appreciated the attention to all the details in the house. The kitchen is a beautiful open space which is well catered for and overlooks the long garden and there were lots of toys to amuse the children as well as fantastic play den in the garden. Allison was highly responsive from the beginning. She kindly checked in with us before and on arrival, ensuring we had the heating on when we all arrived on a cold day, and provided us with a welcome pack (with wine and biscuits), and even some Halloween treats and decorations for the children, which was a lovely surprise. There was lots of useful information about the house, surrounding area and walks. We never felt that anything was missing from the house and that Allison had catered for all needs. The house is also in the best place for accessing the New Forest and its attractions as well as the must visit bakery in Brockenhurst which is just a few minutes walk away (try the New Forest bun!) While it is on a residential street and next to a church we barely heard any noise at all and it was very peaceful. I would recommend staying at the house to anyone as it meets all the criteria for a very comfortable stay for a family holiday away in the New Forest - we were even treated to visits from the horses at the gate most days! Thank you Allison for enabling us to have a wonderful week away in a beautiful location.

The house was just as described, beatifully clean, lovely open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room, with a large garden.
Really well equiped throughout, the number and variety of games and toys was great. Our grandaughter loved the garden playhouse, so well set up, every child's dream.
We even were able to sit out on the south facing patio in the evening enjoying the last of the late summer sun.

Faultless
Really nice stay in Brockenhurst. Plenty of eating options and a perfect location for access to some of the best the Forest has to offer. The house really added to our stay. It's of a very high standard and everything is provided for. The open plan kitchen diner with sofas and tv is a particularly nice space for a large group to socialise. The bifold doors opening on to the garden and patio would make it ideal for enjoying good weather. Underfloor heating equally great for the colder months. The large garden would also be great for the warmer weather. Cosy front room for tv watching with great choice of digital TV channels. Also a great range of toys and games if you have children. Good sized bedrooms with comfy beds, two decent bathrooms and one en suite, all very bright and finished to a high standard.

Truly wonderful in every way!
We stayed for a week at Hathersage and were blown away. This was everything we wanted from our staycation and so much more. From the gorgeous welcome hamper, to the beautiful house and garden and even the surprise Wendy house full of toys to keep our one and three year old entertained.
We couldn’t have asked for anything else from the property and its superb village location and had a fabulous week exploring the beautiful surroundings right on the doorstep. The house was spotless and catered to all our needs as a young family. We will definitely be staying again if we can. Five stars all around!!

A beautiful home from home
Hathersage is much more than a holiday rental, it is a lovely home from home where everything has been thought of and everything we could want was provided. The house is comfortable and clean, and we loved the large living, dining and sitting area perfect fir a family gathering. The garden is lovely for both children and adults. We didn’t have any very young children with us but there were toys and games and a playhouse all provided if you do.
Alison was very helpful in the lead up to our holiday and all the information we could need was provided at the house. The location is fantastic with shops, pubs and restaurants an easy walk and we loved exploring the area, we were able to go to the beaches at Christchurch and had some lovely forest walks. We would love to stay at Hathersage again the five star reviews are very well deserved!

High-spec home from home in great village
We really enjoyed our stay at Hathersage. There are nice bars and restaurants within a really short walking distance and there’s so much to do just a short drive away including wonderful woods and beaches with views.
The house is very nicely fitted out and beautifully clean. The owners have put so much thought into things you might want to use while you’re there and these considerate touches made our stay easier with two young kids than it would have been otherwise.
There’s ample space for three couples to stay. The garden with all of the furniture, toys and Wendy house is just exceptional and really enhances the stay.
For our holiday with three generations of family we couldn’t have found a better place to stay.

Fabulous property in perfect location
This is a lovely house. The owners have really thought of everything and it’s a great place to relax in. It’s location is great to explore the New Forest and also beautiful beaches on South coast. Great space for families if you are likely to eat in a lot, and a great garden to sit and take life easy. Lots of eateries nearby. Loved our stay and throughly recommend.

Fabulous house in fantastic location
I can not fault anything regarding our stay at Hathersage (2 families with 4 children 3, 6, 8 & 10. The attention to detail that Alison and Jeff have put into the house is second to none - spotlessly clean, comfy beds, 3 showers, abundance of everything- pots pans, bbq stuff and countless toys books and games for kids of any age, plus Netflix went down very well!!
The location of the property for exploring is great - walkable to pubs and restaurants is a huge bonus for those that like a tipple!! Plus easy drive to Paultons Park, Beaulieu car museum, beaches, Lyndhurst and Lymington on your doorstep. Bike hire just round the corner and plenty of bike trails to explore - plus who can resist a visit to the front gate from a baby donkey!
I would not hesitate to give 5 stars in all categories. Thank you for a great holiday!

Superb Property in a Superb Location
We had a wonderful week in Hathersage Cottage. The property was super clean and we were satisfied that every precaution had been taken to make the it Covid safe.
There was plenty of space for 8 of us as 2 families of 4. The house was very well equipped and the BBQ and garden got a lot of use!
The location is great both for the town and for walks into the forest. We also hired bikes and had some lovely rides directly from the house.
Thanks for a great stay, we would love to come back and would not hesitate to recommend this property.

Easily deserves more than 5 stars!
My wife and I, grandparents and children (1&3) stayed at this property and life couldn’t have been made easier by our hosts as they had thought of literally everything for all occasions. The pictures and reviews simply don’t do justice. Everything was clean and tidy, plenty of kitchen equipment and entertainment for all including games of all varieties, plenty of dvds and a fab well kitted out play house. A nice welcome bottle of red and barney bear treats for the children. I’d recommend (especially for families) to book and see for yourself. Our hosts should offer a money back guarantee because you’ll not be disappointed. We had a great week. Thank you.

Fantastic stay in the new forest
Just returned from a brilliant holiday in the new forest. Alison and Jeff have an amazing house which we couldn’t find fault with. The house had everything you could possibly need for a great self catering stay, including a huge selection of pots / pans and even a number of herbs and spices. There were plenty of toys made available for the children as well as a safe garden for them to play in.
The location of the house was ideal, just a minutes walk from the train station and around 5 mins from the shops and restaurants.
We will definitely return soon!

Wonderful family home in an amazing location
This was a perfect house for three generations of our family to come together for a weeks holiday in the new forest. The house is set up perfectly for families. We had a 2 year old, 8 and 10 year old all the way up to 70+ and all were as happy playing in the house and garden as exploring the local walks, animals and forest. The house has a great layout so there is plenty of space for everyone to be together or have some quiet time.
The house is extremely well organised with everything you could possibly need.
Our favourite activities were a visit to the Longdown Activity Farm and a cycle ride through the forest to the Oak Inn in Bank.
Thanks Alison and Jeff you were excellent hosts!

Fantastic house and attentive owners
We had a great stay at Hathersage with our three young children. The house is very well located for Brockenhurst amenities and for access to all that the New Forest has to offer. The house itself is wonderful. Beautifully presented and with everything one could possibly need, including many toys and garden games which our children loved. We will be back!

Lovely house
This is the best equipped house we have ever rented in the New Forest. It had absolutely everything you needed, kitchen had extras you don't usually find, spices, herbs, salt, pepper etc. All the picnic equipment you could ever want. If you have children, fantastic games & toys for babies to teenagers. Multiple dvds for a rainy day or night in. Hand rails in the downstairs shower & chair important for the less physically able.
Minutes from station to take you to Southampton/Lymington/Bournmouth. 10 min walk to village with multiple restaurants & pubs. Walks on hand.
Alison & Jeff have thought of everything for a lovely house, with lots of information if you dont know the area.
Thank you for sharing your lovely house.

Ideal home from home to visit new forest
This house was perfect for a holiday with three generations of family. The children loved all the toys and the lovely garden. The adults liked the comfortable beds, the well designed bathrooms and the well equipped kitchen. The house has been renovated with a marvellous eye for detail and everything in it has been thoughtfully placed there with guests in mind.
We loved the location, being just a short walk to the village shops and cafes, and also near a children's playground. It was great being able to walk into the Forest from our doorstep. And even better that the ponies and donkies came to visit us at the front gate several times during our stay, one with a new foal in tow!
There were wonderful places to explore in the nearby area, with a highlight being Bucklers Hard.

Excellent property in a perfect location
Three generations of our family stayed at Hathersage Cottage for a week in July.
The location was perfect with easy access to walking/cycling trails in the Forest and all amenities within walking distance.
With the train station on the doorstep we had a day trip to Southampton which was so easy.
Everything about the house was perfect - the kitchen/dining/family room is clearly the hub of the house with bi-folding doors onto the garden it was a perfect space to sit/relax and play.
Whilst the kids loved it the best thing for me was the ease of booking, excellent communication with the owners and the welcome pack.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and we will definitely make every effort to return.
