About this house rental
This beautiful little farmhouse is located along with 10 other similar houses on our 500 acre farm in Mound City AR, just 7 minutes from downtown Memphis. Mound City was named for the Indian mounds, and was an important trading town during the 1800's until Union forces burned it in 1864. There are 3 historic markers on the property.
Originally a sharecropper home, this house was built about 1905 and was fully renovated in 2017. Charming, cozy and beautifully furnished, it has everything a guest would need for a comfortable stay in this area. Gas stove, washer/dryer, dishwasher, wifi, directv, A/C and a really cool front porch.
Pets have plenty of room to roam on this farm, which has several miles of dirt roads and several acres of mowed grass fields. It is peaceful, quiet and safe.

Working in Marion. Wanted to stay somewhere close but didn't want to use motel. Good location, no elevator or parking lot, no people. Set on the porch and look at the farm. Only complaint is there's too many fees. With the fees required it's more than 2 hotel rooms.

The house was a wonderful place with all of the stated amenities. The yard and surrounding area were beautiful and spacious. Our dog loved running around the yard and fields. Our son was able to visit from his apartment in Memphis and we were able to do many things together. The area feels remote from the bustle of downtown Memphis, but was simply a short drive away. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Fantastic location
This location can’t be beat. So close to downtown Memphis. Very interesting property with a farm setting, on the Mississippi River levee, with an Indian mound, vineyard and more.

We have stayed in several places in the past but this host was definitely the most informative and added a personal touch with fresh eggs, muffins, and juice waiting in the fridge. The atmosphere was laid back and comfortable. Our corgi was able to run around and feel at home. Also, the history of the entire area appealed to our sons as well as my husband and me. Thank you so much for a pleasant stay!!

Great location to see the city and the country
Very cute cottage on a beautiful piece of property. Our little farmhouse had luxury touches and was very comfortable. Our family of four had plenty of room. Kitchen is stocked - breakfast provided. Paper towels and garbage bags. Coffee in freezer. All details are thought of. The hosts are very nice and accommodating. Their property around the corn field, Indian Mound and small orchard is very pretty. You can walk up the back road to get even more out in the country. Very quick drive to Memphis. Overall, one of the best VRBO experiences I've had.

Great Place to Stay for Memphis and East Arkansas!
My family decided to go on a new family adventure for Thanksgiving. We chose Memphis as the destination as we had never been there before. When searching VRBO we were intrigued by the charm and history of this renovated sharecropper farmhouse (Bo). When we arrived we were not disappointed.
While staying at Mound City we were able to easily get to Memphis to visit places like Graceland, Beale Street, Slave Haven Underground Railroad Museum, etc. we were also not far from Johnny Cash’s childhood home at Dyess Colony, about a 30 - 45 minute drive.
We were there on Thanksgiving and instead of going out for Thanksgiving dinner we decided to prepare it at the farmhouse, although we made Cornish hens instead of a turkey. The kitchen is modern and well equipped and our Thanksgiving dinner turned out great! We prepared most of our meals there except when we were in Memphis. We do like our iron skillet and InstantPot so we brought ours along to make cooking easier for us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, exploring the property, and learning about the history of the area. It was fascinating to think that in the very rooms that we slept, cooked, and lived in former slaves may have slept, cooked, and lived.
Overall we were extremely satisfied with our stay. We won’t hesitate to book with Charles and Emily again the next time we visit Memphis.

Home Away From Home
This is our second stay at one of these great farmhouses! We visit family every year in this area and are so pleased we found an alternative to staying in a hotel. This house is a perfect home away from home . The owners seem to have thought of everything! The kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom are fully equipped with items you need so you can function when you are away from your own home. I just can't say enough good things about the house and the owners who are easy to reach and quick to respond.

Hidden Gem
This our 3rd time staying at the farm and it never disappoints. Emily and Charlie are amazing hosts and go above and beyond to ensure their clients are comfortable. With a short 15 minute drive to Memphis, there is no place I would even consider staying. The houses are clean, updated and have everything you need. If you are looking for a weekend or extended stay, this is the place to be. My wife feels extreme safe here and our boys have plenty of space to run around. Thank you for opening up your property to us. We will be seeing you again real soon.

Small town country feel just outside of DT Memphis
We came across this little cabin and were very intrigued, up arriving we were blown away. This is the most adorable, updated, pet friendly unit. We were comfortable, had everything we needed and the booking process and dealing with the owners was a breeze. We loved it so much we stayed a couple extra nights. There was a sweet welcome note and oj, milk, eggs, coffee, English muffins and jam waiting for us. This is the perfect spot if you like your privacy and enjoy the country feel. This cabins is less then 10 min from all there is to do in Memphis. Uber and food delivery is also available if you need it! Highly recommend this cabin and we will be back!

Such a relaxing place
This is our second stay here. Our first was for 3 months and this was just 2 days but I’ll be back and the hospitality and special attention is just “off the charts!” The houses are each so unique but still with modern up to date amenities. They always leave you brown eggs and milk and juice and muffins. It’s so clean!!!! I sleep so good in those big fluffy beds. I feel like family.

Convenient to Memphis in Pastoral Setting
Visited family in Marion, AR with my husband & small terrier in October. The property was clean & comfortable with reasonable rates. Convenient for walking the dog. We had everything we needed & the owners even provided some breakfast items for our use. Attended the River Arts Festival in Memphis with easy access to I-40.

Perfect all the way around
This place was perfect! They even had eggs, English muffins, OJ and milk in the refrigerator for us when we arrived. The house was very clean and just the perfect size. We were very close to downtown Memphis also. We brought two of our dogs, a German Shepard and puppy pit bull and they loved being able to go outside and walk around freely and play. You will not be disappointed if you stay here i promise!

Never Miss A Beat
Where do I even begin? Emily and Charlie have been two of the most accommodating hosts I have had the pleasure of dealing with in my travels across the US. I travel quite a bit for work and take my family when afforded the opportunity. My family and I stayed here back in April and absolutely loved it. We have 2 boys under the age of 3 and my wife felt extremely safe here and had so much room for the kids to explore. A hop, skip and a jump to Memphis and what more could you ask for.
It came time to travel to TN again and it was really last minute. We reached out to Emily and Charlie and they really went out of their way to accommodate my family and I. When I say lat minute I mean like 3 days before we were leaving. They were booked and made sure that we had a place to stay in one of their recently finished homes. I can not say enough nice things about this family, their place and how much we appreciate everything they do to make their guest feel welcomed. When coming to Memphis, we will never stay anywhere else. You shouldn't either........

Quiet and Cozy - but close to everything!
Our stay at the Farmhouses was so great! It was the perfect size for our family of (2 adults, 1 toddler, 1 infant) and it was in a fantastic location. Getting where we needed to go in Memphis (Children's Museum, Zoo and Cannon Center) were all easy trips. If we had had a baby pool to lounge in after the hot day at the zoo, it would have been perfect!
Our only issue was that the previous guests had taken all but one of the washcloths, but it was obvious that they should have been there- this place had THE BEST towels My husband asked me to get us some - we just need to figure out where they came from! Also, if you like a nice, strong shower, the shower water pressure isn't the greatest - but hey, you're on a farm and it's so quiet and it's amazing, enjoy a low key shower :) Everything we needed was available for us - a well appointed kitchen, laundry room, etc - even card games and Connect Four!
All in all, we would stay here again - and hope to! This was a wonderful little home - thank you so much, Emily and Charlie!
