This home is spacious. I will say it needs some updates better cooking area stove stop. We like to cook even on vacation. The back yard is nice the ducks and chickens that passed through were very entertaining. It is close to Arcadia and down the street is a restaurant on the water. Host is spectacular

The house was perfect. It was spacious and clean. They even provided Q-tips and makeup wipes! The location was only 1-mile to the visitor center and about 3-miles to Bar Harbor. The neighbor's chickens and ducks were an added bonus, as were the deer & fawns found wondering the yard.

Great home! Spacious. Loved the kitchen. Loved all the bedrooms. Quiet. Beautiful apple trees. Working with Trish was absolutely a delight! We shopped hard and came “Home” and rested so well.

Overall, terrific property and one I’d recommend to any family. Close proximity to Bar Harbor and sits in a quiet neighborhood tucked away from any noise. It’s a bit of a compound where there’s 3-4 houses that share the same driveway which is the only thing that makes it not completely private.

Our family enjoyed the house with a large yard and deck. The house provides great sleeping options and bathrooms. Every area of the house was wonderfully decorated. The owner was lovely and if needed she was there to help us with any questions or hiccups. Best yet, the location to the park and downtown Bar Harbor, was perfect.

Great house. Very well equipped. We were 6 adults and 4 children 3 and under. There were lots of things at the house, including pack and plays , that helped us to avoid bringing extra things. Lots of lovely bedrooms. Wonderful backyard. It was a perfect week.

This property is a great house for 5 couples to stay in when it is cool outside. The back patio is relaxing in the shade in the evening. If you want to shuttle into town, the Island Shuttle picks you up at the end of Crooked Rd, just a short walk. The neighbors are close, but never bothered us and were friendly. I would stay there again to go to Bar Harbor, and stay at the outskirts of town.

What a nice place to stay. All the items we needed, large and small. We played cards at night at the big table, easily cooked meals, had easy access to Acadia, Bar Harbor and other fun places. Beds and bathrooms were great. Spacious, attractive, comfortable, clean, owners quick to respond.

Our extended family of 11 had a wonderful time staying at Orchard House. The grandchildren 1-5 yrs old loved playing outside in the meadow and with the collection of inside toys. There was plenty of space for everyone. The house was close to everything and yet in a quiet farm like setting. With plenty of windows in each room the air circulation and lighting were wonderful. The eclectic collection of artwork was a huge bonus. Highly recommended!

This house is indeed spacious and comfortable! You really feel like you're in a home. Plenty of parking (we had a minivan, two pickup trucks, and a sedan), and the yard and garden are beautiful. We very much enjoyed seeing the neighbor's ducks do their daily commute through the yard to a patch of vegetation to dine on. The house is perfectly located near enough Bar Harbor and Acadia to have everything be accessible while still having a private quiet setting. Patricia was a wonderful, friendly, and accomodating host. We would definitly recommend this property to anyone looking to vacation in Bar Harbor.

Too bad the weather was fantastic - sunny every day with a high temperature in the 70s and cool at night - because it meant we *had* to do the obligatory hike up Cadillac Mountain, bicycle riding the Carriage Roads (access is so close to the home), ferry ride to the Cranberry Isles searching for sea glass, dining at some of the best restaurants in Maine. Because we needed incentive to leave this wonderful property with ample room for the 11 of us. Well-stocked and well-appointed kitchen, beds were among the most comfortable on MDI. We could *not* ask for a better stay, or a better host.

The house was exceptional in layout, cleanliness, and Trish has it well stocked with basics like trash bags and paper towels. The house was clean, and adequate ratio of bedrooms to bathrooms. The house is tucked behind some neighbors who we didnt see. One side overlooks a historic apple orchard that exudes peacefulness. Trish was quick to respond to text messages. Everyone in our group of 11 enjoyed their stay. We hope to stay there again on our next trip.

Seven women in our 60s enjoyed a wonderful time. Trish’s home was perfect for us. We had lots of room and 3 bathrooms!
Trish’s home was the best stocked VRBO I have ever stayed in. Every room had tissues. We had lots of paper towels, TP and paper napkins. It was a great home!
Thanks Trish!

My wife and I along with two other couples stayed at the Orchard House for five days and enjoyed every minute of it. The house is in a great location close to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and local restaurants.
The house is well equipped with all the necessitates and is very comfortable. Besides the great location we liked having three full bathrooms so each couple cold have their own.
Tricia was great to work with both before and after our stay. She was very responsive to all my questions and made us feel very comfortable. I highly recommend the Orchard House as a go to location for a stay when visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

We felt comfortable with the location. Perfect location to get around Bar Harbor and use of free shuttles. Had a great time hiking, biking, cruising, and exploring the downtown. Lots of Ice Cream! The only issue that we want to bring up to the owner attention, is that they may want to clean the guest bathroom a bit better as there is additional grime around the bathtub and the appearance of a mushroom.

The house has many bedrooms with queen size beds and a king as well with a master bath. It is appointed with artwork and tasteful decoration in every space. The location is perfect, close to Bar Harbor and Acadia. There is a large space in back of the house for playing and a large deck as well. The common area is spacious with plenty of seating and a dining room table. There is also a breakfast area table. The kitchen had ample dishes for our group of 7 adults and 2 children. It is a quiet location near Hull's Cove. Trish was responsive when an issue arose and it was quickly resolved. All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much. This house is perfect for a large family and/or friends.

The Orchard House is the perfect place to stay with a larger group on Mount Desert Island. Check in/out was very easy. The house is conveniently located and is only a few minutes drive to Bar Harbor and close to two very good restaurants (The Chart Room and Lobster Bakes) that are right around the corner. The owner (Trish) is very nice and we were able to reach her easily when we needed her during our stay. The house was clean and spacious. It had several areas for people to gather and a large yard for the kids to run around in. We had 6 kids in our group, ages ranging from 11 months to 9 years. A pack n play and high chair are available to use at the house, which was helpful! All the adults and kids in our group had a great time and the kids kept asking when we can return to Maine and the Orchard House. Thank you, Trish, for a wonderful stay!

Three families were repeat renters -- we had previously rented Trish's other house just up the road. We had a great experience in this house. It was more than big enough for 3 families with teenagers. The living areas are spacious; we spent a lot of time on the private rear deck. The house was very clean and well-stocked with supplies and plush towels. It's an older house with some wear, but compared to other more expensive properties in the area, it is a great value. If you are looking for a modern house with AC and lots of TVs, this probably isn't the home for you.
A few things to note about the property itself:
* The kitchen is fine, we cooked-in almost every night, but it's not been upgraded recently, if that matters to you.
* A few photos in the listing are out of date: BR#6 is on the 3rd floor but the door to the deck is locked and you cannot go out on the small deck. A bistro table and chairs are still on the deck, but you can't sit out there.
* There is a propane grill (works great), but it's not the dual charcoal/propane grill featured in the photos -- in case that's important to you. Again, the photo needs to be updated.
* Our friends gave high marks to the beds -- said they were all very comfortable. The king bed in the master BR was uncomfortable for me but fine for my wife.
* Our kids LOVED the easy access to Lake Wood, an "undiscovered" lake in Acadia NP only 5 minutes away. Great swimming and jumping off the rocks and virtually no one there.

Our family spent a week at this residence and enjoyed our stay. A few things to note:
Pros
Great location. Very close to Hull's Cove area and easy access to Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor.
Very spacious and relatively clean for the age of the home.
Plenty of outdoor space for activities.
Plenty of supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning products, soaps, etc.)
Things to Note
Early checkout (9am)
Wifi bandwidth is very limited
Only one refrigerator (leaked but was fixed midway through stay)
Only one small TV
Host was often present on site.
House sits behind two other homes which we were told are occupied by the host's children's families.
No hammocks allowed
Cons
The third floor balcony is not usable and locked.
You have to take all your garbage out of the driveway past the other two homes and down the street a bit to the dumpster.
You have to separate recycling, and the host comes occasionally to collect and turn in for bottle deposits.
The landscaping is fairly unkempt leading to an increase in bugs around the porch areas. There were foot-tall weeds all around the deck and surrounding the grill. A portion of the yard was mowed during our stay, but they did not do any edging/trimming. No blinds on the upstairs bathroom windows.

Orchard House is light and bright. It has the warm cozy feel of a home with plenty of space to spread out (more than our family of 6 needed). The location next to Acadia’s visitor’s center is hard to beat especially when the shuttles are running. Trish was gracious and kind. We can’t wait to go back.

We had a magical time at the Orchard House! It was everything we wanted for a family of 8 on vacation - lots of space and 3 bathrooms was key! The location is wonderful, communication with owner was prompt and helpful. Would stay here again!

We just finished a one week vacation at Bar Harbor and stayed at the Orchard house. The house was spacious and very clean. Our group of nine enjoyed the wild turkeys and deer that ambled by on a daily basis. About a five minute ride to Bar Harbor and a couple of nice restaurants within a short walk from the house. The owner, Patricia, was friendly and helpful. All in all, good location, quiet, close to park,
plenty of plates, cups and utensils in kitchen.
We would stay there again, if we went back.

The orchard house is in an area that is very convenient to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The property is secluded and quite lovely with deer visiting the surrounding apple trees on a daily basis. The home is very spacious, ultra comfortable, and full of charm! We absolutely loved our time staying there!

For the family looking for an Acadian adventure it’s hard to go wrong here. Six beautiful bedrooms, each lovelier than the next. Beautifully furnished with a back yard apple orchard and plenty of room for everyone. Two rooms are especially unique with 180 degree views of the bay and the beautiful back yard.
Main park entrance is a mile or so down the road and Bar Harbor is only a few miles further if you want to scratch your shopping/night life itch. Perfect access for whatever adventure strikes your fancy!
Trish was a great host and very accessible if the need should arise.
If you are looking for an ideal location from which to base your family adventure, it’s hard to imagine any place more perfect!

We did a cousins vacation with 5 couples. The property was perfect for our needs! The location is great. Very close to Bar Harbor but far enough to have privacy and not be in the traffic and hustle bustle in town. We had a family of deer every morning come visit while we sat outside drinking coffee. We had one a minor issue with the coffee pot which honestly could have been user error. I text Trish and she brought a brand new one to us within the hour.
The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need. Huge bathrooms and great bedrooms. The beds were comfortable and had wonderful bedding.
Highly recommend this home and Trish!!!

This large house in the woods was perfect for a three generation family vacation. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms, large living room and dining facility allowed us to hang out together easily. Trish was super easy to communicate with. The house was out of the way for peace and quiet (not to mention the deer visiting us in the apple orchard), but close to all of the exciting activities at Acadia National Park. We would happily stay here again!

One week before our visit, with no cancellation refund available, the owner reneged on an agreement we had made months before, in writing, before booking the rental. This put a lot of stress on our vacation. She ignored my message trying to resolve the issue.
More importantly, While the listing is family friendly and in fact several Pack and Plays and high chairs are provided, the house is full of very nice and very breakable objects within easy reach of young children. Several display cases, narrow in depth and not fastened to the wall are just plain dangerous as a child could pull them down on top of themselves. The rather flimsy fencing surrounding the landing near the bottom of the stairs has openings large enough for a small child to get their head stuck in. Another dangerous oversight.
Of course parents should be watchful, but needing to be at Alert Level 10 for the entire week was not our idea of a relaxing vacation. For those without young children it's a nice house and property.

Wonderful Vacation Home
Beautiful house in a beautiful setting for a quiet family vacation. The kitchen was great to cook in with everything we needed for big family dinners. It was truly like home away from home.

Peaceful
The property was so peaceful. Just close enough to Bar Harbor to enjoy all it has to offer, but far enough away for you to have a relaxing vacation. We had one issue trying to figure out the shower head and Trish immediately responded and came by to show us how to get it to work properly. Loved our stay!
