About us:
If we build it they will come, or so we hope. My husband and I, after raising 3 kids and seeing them thru 2 tours in Iraq, while I battled cancer went looking for a peaceful, comfortable cottage on its own land because we really needed solitude and some down time. The search began in NH, then Maine and finally Vermont. The closest we found was a cabin in VT with a woodstove and jacuzzi tub, unfortunately it had other cabins all around us, no views and cost $300.00 a night! We stayed for the weekend and talked to the owners about their experience owning cottages.
In the mean-time my husband got a job at New Hampton School and while driving around found a 230 year old house with 36 acres and beautiful views that reminded him of his grandfather’s cottage in up-state NY. He had many fond memories being a child there and couldn’t let this house go. Should we? This house was not even insulated and had been a summer camp for 50 years. After much consideration we purchased the old home with dream views and most importantly…land.
Then began 3 long years of making it livable. Still, we felt very blessed and enjoyed our views, the peace and quiet, but we never forgot the stress of everything we had suffered and couldn’t forget the many fellow veterans and cancer survivors and wished we could bless them with what we had.
Could we combine both the need for eventual retirement income and help others too? Well we owned the land across the street separately, so began the dream … and then the work. A business plan, a budget (how to stay on budget), purchase of an excavator to clear the land & put in a septic, get a loan, draw plans, hire tradesman then do the rest ourselves. After many LEARNING MOMENTS & 2 tireless years of working almost every weekend (my husband worked his full-time job!) many phone calls, tradespeople, bought everything needed to build & furnish the cottage, hubby still did most of the heavy lifting and we both called on anyone we knew for help or knowledge with anything we didn’t already know.
Finally, after 2 long years I was finally able to decorate it. We are so GLAD it’s done and we are very proud of what we have accomplished. We hope you like it as much as we do.
Actually, you’re helping with our dream to help others just by renting. For every extra $ we can save after deducting costs we hope to put a percent into giving a veteran or cancer survivor some time here for free. Another way You can help us bless others is by giving us good reviews as well as signing our guestbook.
But most importantly, we hope you enjoy your stay, please read the cabin companion book and familiarize yourself with helpful tips as we also labeled things and left notes to help. I collected some of our favorite things to do in the area as well as brochures. Please don’t hesitate to call us directly if needed!
We thank you in advance for taking good care of our cottage. Please leave comments on the chalk board if anything is needed/wanted, compliments and constructive criticism.

Very clean comfortable bed. Good kitchen, big clean bathroom, spacious outdoors

We really enjoyed this house because it was away from civilization but within driving distance of things to do with the kids. We enjoyed exploring the town of Meredith, going on a scenic train ride, playing in the arcades, and going to Squam Lake Natural Science Center. If we come back to New Hampshire, we would definitely stay here again.

This little cottage was just what we were looking for! While the property was beautiful and secluded, it wasn't far from downtown shops and eateries or the lakes. It was incredibly clean and had everything we needed for a nice long weekend getaway (cooking supplies, linens and towels, and even the small touches like the candle by the jacuzzi tub). The bed was also very comfortable which made it had to get up in the morning. Sue and Kirk made us feel right at home, and it was nice knowing they were only a call/text away. Our little dog Cody also had a great time exploring the property. We would definitely love to come back soon!

The view, the peace, the quiet, the natural beauty of the surroundings, we really wanted to stay longer. Thank you for sharing this beautiful spot!

We had a water emergency at our home and had to head out at 3am a day early. Other than that it was beautiful but rushed. Really nice and good area for walking the dog.

I went here with my boyfriend and senior dog. The first issue we encountered was the dirt road that was not discussed in the listing. Having a car with low profile sports tires is not ideal for a dirt road. Upon arrival, we found their pet policy, which also was not listed on VRBO. It states that the dog is not allowed on the furniture. My senior dog was very anxious on this entire trip and we were not able to leave her alone. She didn’t understand why she couldn’t come up on the bed, as she always sleeps with us. It also states that they do not want the dog to urinate on their lawn because it will kill the lawn. In my opinion, this is one of the aspects that you deal with if you are dog friendly. All of these additional restrictions on the dogs should be detailed in the listing so there are no surprises. In addition, we were unable to locate the large fields shown in a couple of pictures on the listing. The pictures made us believe there were more areas to roam around, other than the immediate yard. This was not the case. One picture showed an open field around the fire pit, but it has since severely overgrown. Unfortunately we only stayed 2 of the 3 nights that we paid for due to the upcoming hurricane. We were not interested in dealing with downed trees or flooding along the road. We did appreciate the cleanliness and quick responses of the owners (although no response was received after the issues were described). We had high hopes for this rental that were not met sadly.

We came for a weekend away from all the noise of our lives and got exactly what we needed. Quiet, secluded and surrounded by nature. The cottage is perfect and incredibly comfortable for two people and their two dogs. We found so many great hiking trails in the surrounding area and all the little towns are a lot of fun to explore. We are hoping to make this a yearly winter trip for our little family.

We were delighted with the cottage. Everything we needed was there and the owners were very responsive with every request. But even better was the view. A vista overlooking the mountains with the fall foliage was breathtaking.
We don’t generally stay in the same Vrbo twice, but we may enjoy another stay here.
Thank you Sue & Kirk for a wonderful stay.

This property was a perfect place to stay to relax and just enjoy the private surroundings and views. The home was clean, spacious, and well-stocked. We stayed for a few weeks and the location allowed us to spend time at places we love in the Lakes Region, the White Mountains, and also to see family and friends throughout NH, MA, NY. Definitely recommend this property for anyone for any occasion.

We just finished our 3rd annual trip at Pinnacle View cottage and it’s our favorite few days of the year!
Sue and Kirk keep the cottage and grounds gorgeous. The cottage is spotless and well stocked. The location is spectacular, remote but close enough to some great local spots. The cottage has many brochures and recommend taking some maps with you as cell service is spotty specifically if you head to the White Mountains.
There’s plenty to do in the area if you want to explore or the cottage is cozy enough to stay in if that’s more your style. We like to explore and have found 5 nights to be the right fit for us, and we’re still not ready to head home. For our 3rd visit here we still found plenty of new places to explore.
Perfect place to unplug and relax. This cottage holds a special place in our hearts and we love that it’s become a tradition for us. Will be coming back here for years to come!

My husband and 6 yr old stayed at the cottage for our summer getaway. Close enough to several lakes and an hour or so to Santas Village but far enough from the busy parts of town. Less than 20 min to weirs beach/meredith and newfound lake. Wonderful views, even our 6 yr old enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the sun set.
Clean especially for a home that allows pets. Had everything we needed and was comfortable. Tasteful decor, not overly done, and many windows. Was cooler for August, just having the windows open was all we needed. Nice clean shower and plenty of towels, always a plus! Thank you!

While we didn't specifically plan a second honeymoon, that is how we would describe our time here. The setting was secluded and we were surrounded by natural beauty; sunsets by the fire, turkeys hanging out, and majestic mountains. The cabin was well appointed and the owners have created a homey, welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed biking on the rail trail, swimming in a near by lake, and a delicious dinner at Fratello's. We highly recommend staying here and look forward to returning.

If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors then look into this place. Ten miles from Meredith for dinners, but you return here and it’s all about peace and quiet.
Very clean and functional and it comes with a fire pit with plenty of wood. I would recommend it to friends and family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this idyllic cottage in the woods. With a beautifully maintained property, jacuzzi tub, and a comfortable bed, it offered all we needed for a great vacation. Location was within general range of multiple lakes and restaurant options.
The owner was very helpful with any communication needs. Loved it!

This was our second time visiting this beautiful cottage. We loved it so much the first time, we had to go back. It’s exactly as Sue describes. It’s immaculate, private and the view is spectacular. Absolutely nothing but the sound of birds and the wind. If you’re looking to get away from the chaos of every day life this is it!

This was our second time staying at the property, and it once again met all our expectations. It's the perfect blend of being isolated but still close to any amenities you choose to take advantage of. The cabin is well-maintained and is the perfect getaway for me and my wife. I can whole-heartedly recommend the property and will definitely look for opportunities to return in the future.

We wanted to get away from the city and see some beautiful vistas and hopefully some snow! The cabin and grounds were perfect- private, warm, cozy, clean and well-stocked with everything we couldn’t fit in our already jam-packed car. We had lovely family dinners in the kitchen with a great Mountain View. And we enjoyed the coziness of the fire next to the big living room window. Sue and Kirk were excellent hosts and graciously plowed us out after the storm hit. Can’t say enough good things about this place and hope to be back sometime in the future. Worth every penny!

What a little charming home that matches the pictures provided. The attention to detail on both the home and decorations that were present for Valentine's day weekend. You can tell that the hosts clearly love this place and I am happy that they shared this home with us. From the amazing sunset views, to the silence, and of course the spa tub. We both enjoyed having a drink on the porch in the evening watching the sunset.
If you need to recharge and get away from the Hussle and bussle of life, this is a wonderful place to do that. Thank you for the lovely home to spend a weekend at.

I was looking for a quite remote place to get away to recharge. This is exactly what I needed. If your looking for remote getaway look no further. Beautiful views, amazing location to hike in the winter. Had a couple snow storms and the property owner was on top of plowing me out. In fact shoveled the stairs as well. I had no intention of leaving but great in case.. I would have explored a lot more on my own with my two dogs, however being that secluded in the mountains alone was not a safe idea for me. I was more fearful of an animal coming out of the woods. The property owners we not too far away so that was a comfort as well if needed anything. Nothing was needed fully stocked location.. I was able to enjoy the jacuzzi everyday. The best was watching the snow fall over the mountains and the sunset. Perfect for a couple, looking for any time of year. You will definitely feel like there isn’t anyone for miles!!! Enjoy
