About this cottage rental

Located in the heart of The New Forest in the beautiful hamlet of Bank, Acorn Cottage is an idyllic place to stay, wether for a family retreat or for a romantic getaway. The cottage, much of which dates back to 1760, retains charm & character but features all the modern appliances you will need for a relaxing luxury holiday. There are gorgeous 3 bedrooms that sleep 6. Set in an acre of garden on the open Forest where the New Forest ponies & cows are your frequent visitors, as well as the ducks that live in the garden. Newly decorated, we offer exceptional quality, comfort & luxury. Downstairs there is a fully equipped cottage style kitchen with a dining area and separate utility room, lounge with wood burner, dining room with inglenook fireplace & garden room all with views over the extensive gardens. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, the master bedroom is an en-suite bathroom with stunning forest views & king sized bed, a second bedroom with king sized double bed and a third that can be a twin or children's room (with a travel cot & matress) & a family bathroom with shower. The large secure front garden has a lawn area and various outside seating to enjoy the all day sunshine. The large back garden is divided into 2 sections, the first an enclosed area with outside lounge seating & BBQ on raised decking with steps down to a patio dining area and lawn which overlooks the rest of the garden. There is pretty pond area, which is fenced off from the house & main garden, with a pontoon and small pond house where you can picnic and watch the ducks and the occasional Kingfisher whilst overlooking the beautiful Willow Tree and tranquil surroundings. There is a great country pub a short walk away and the local village of Lyndhurst is close by offering a wonderful selection of shops, bike hire, coffee shops and places to eat. The picturesque village of Brockenhurst is a 10 minute drive or bus journey away (with the main line train with frequent trains to London and the South Coast). The New Forest is at your doorstep with endless walks, cycle paths and places to explore & enjoy. If it's a beach you're looking for, just 20 minutes away you have the choice of the beautiful sandy beaches and beach huts of Mudeford or the marina and stunning town of Lymington where crabbing and fish and chips on the quay are a must. A fantastic family cottage offering a beautiful, peaceful location but with so much to do - a perfect holiday home.

We (a family of four) spent a fantastic holiday in this charming cottage, and it was everything we hoped for. Both the cottage itself and the garden were ideal, with all the amenities we needed for a most enjoyable stay. The location was ideal for exploring nearby trails and the local pub! Overall, it was a great experience, and we would certainly return!

Boutique hotel vibe, very comfortable and easy to relax in the house and outside.in the glorious garden and grounds. The quality of the household items and linens was not lost on us and all the bespoke touches that Maria went to the trouble of surprising us with were enjoyed and appreciated. Couldn't have wished for a better weekend.

We all loved Acorn Cottage. It is a hidden gem set in a fabulous location. The huge garden and glorious weather made for a perfect weekend. The cottage is extremely well equipped and very comfortable. Our host was very friendly and super helpful.

We had such a lovely time at Acorn cottage, it was absolutely perfect in every way. Communication with Maria throughout super easy and the cottage is stunning, probably one of the most well thought out, well stocked getaways we've stayed at. We did plenty of local walks straight from the cottage and had a few stop offs on the way home in the local pub. We also visited on a pretty wintery weekend so it made the forest and the pub that little bit more festive. We would definitely return.

Lovely property, great location, but the dinning room was very dark so we never used this room and there were quite a lot of steps within the property which for some people maybe an issue.

We had the most wonderful time at Acorn Cottage, as every little thing is catered for from all the games provided inside and out, to the the peaceful setting, where you can relax in the extensive gardens, or in the tranquility of the cottage. We loved that there are walks straight into the forest, without having to take the car and where the ponies literally walk past the front gate. Maria is a wonderful host and provided so many extras, including a delicious cake, bread, jam, wine, milk, juice, as well as a selection of teas and coffees. Thank you so much for a perfect break away.

…from the communication with Maria and the lovely treats she left us to the picturesque cottage in the perfect location. Immaculately clean with everything you could wish for to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It really was even better than we had imagined it would be, immersed in nature and wildlife with all the creature comforts of a lovely home and a host that goes above and beyond. What an amazing place. Maria is a Fantastic host, really helpful. We were welcomed with a lovely homemade birthday cake for my husband’s birthday. The pictures really don’t do the cottage justice. The outside space was absolutely amazing, we brought our puppy and he had the best time in the garden. You cross the road and are straight into the forest for amazing walks.

This was our third time at the property. Cannot fault anything. It just gets better. Maria, our host, was always on hand if we needed her and nothing was a problem. The cottage and gardens are stunning. We were visited by ponies and had a little foal running up the drive. Short walk to The Oak Inn which was also very good. We are already looking at dates to return and will many more times. Absolutely first class.

What a beautiful house and what a beautiful part of the world! Walk out of the property into the forest, or 3 minutes up the road to the pub, what a gorgeous dilemma. The cottage has everything you could wish for, including a beautiful garden, and Maria was a generous and thoughtful host. We will definitely be coming back!

We’ve just returned from a lovely week away at Acorn Cottage. The cottage has absolutely everything you need & much much more. Maria the host was there when we checked in, with Easter treats for our children & also treats for us! The house was spotless. We will definitely be returning

My son and his girlfriend picked this cottage as our treat to them to celebrate his 30th. We had a warm welcome from the host who baked a special cake which helped set the scene for a celebratory weekend. Bedding quality is excellent.

Amazing cottage set in a stunningly beautiful location. Lovely little quaint places to visit nearby. Acorn Cottage is an absolute home from home accommodation. The personal gifts on arrival, wine, cake & dog treats, were such a thoughtful touch from the owner Maria. Would highly recommend this accommodation to anybody visiting The New Forest!!

A cosy cottage, with a quirky layout, with a few steps connecting rooms. Plenty of space for everyone, lots of seating in the garden and the garden room with views down to the pond. Situated on a quiet lane amongst the trees. The toy room is a great asset in this cottage, with many toys, books and games .

Property was stunning. Lovely location straight out on to forest, huge gardens for our goldendoodle to play in and for us to relax in. Maria left us a lovely welcome pack and came out to greet us. She was always on hand if we needed her and nothing was a problem. Property was stocked with everything you could possibly need and a bbq in the garden. We couldn't fault this property. Location and amenities surpassed our expectations but the extras... locally sourced, high quality produce, fresh flowers in all the rooms, presents (as it was a birthday celebration), provided by the very friendly host, Maria, made it all the more special. We had a fantastic stay. Would highly recommend.

Acorn Cottage is a beautiful property in a lovely remote part of the New Forest while still being a short drive to Lyndhurst. Maria is an incredible host who was available and helpful whenever needed (even 7am on a Sunday!) The personal touches and set up for the children made such a lovely difference and this is definitely somewhere we would recommend and love to return to! Thank you

Has a great homely feel, and extremely well equipped (everything seems to have been thought of). with lots pf lovely personal touches including goodies on arrival. Based on our family (three generations) weekend break highly recommended.

This cottage was absolutely 5 star. We had a brilliant week there. There is a lovely pub 5 mins walk away & we went there most nights! Very relaxing stay. Cottage was very well equipped with lots of little touches - fresh flowers in all the rooms, fresh bread & home made cake with chilled wine on arrival- very impressed. The owner Maria met me there & was so helpful. We already want to come back - absolutely wonderful area that was so peaceful- the perfect place to relax!

Acorn Cottage is situated in a quiet part of the New Forest. The Property has extensive gardens including a pond and gave our two young grandchildren many hours of fun and games. The cottage is spacious, extremely well equipped and we all enjoyed relaxing in this magnificent holiday let. The owner could not have been more helpful and we could not have asked for a warmer welcome. The treats for three generations of 'children' were greatly appreciated. So much to do in the local area and all in all we could not have asked for a better holiday let. First class break.

My adult kids and I met for a weekend catch up. It was a wet and windy weekend but we took the dogs out for lovely walks in the Forest and on the beach then came back to the cosy cottage for tasty food and one or two drinks! Very restorative.Maria was a great host.

We had a fab stay! A lovely, authentic property with good facilities in the best location. Local pub great and literally on the edge of the forest for great walking/ cycling. Maria is super helpful and went the extra to mile to make us all so very welcome. Thank you and we will return!

We’d been booked for months but were uncertain if the Covid situation would allow us to go on our holiday. Maria kept in contact throughout and as luck would have it we were allowed to travel! The cottage is homely and in a wonderful location, we had a perfect time.
