About this villa rental
ALBERTA FARMHOUSE is a luxury villa in the heart of the rolling hills among the wineries and olive oil estates of Lucca. Although surrounded by Olive Groves and Vineyards, the villa is located in a 3.5 kms from the Walls of the town, the city centre of Lucca and the main shopping street of the town called VIA FILLUNGO.
Although completely restored, there remains much of the property’s traditional charm. The terracotta floors as you enter and the original furniture are a case in point.
ALBERTA FARMHOUSE is the perfect place to relax in the Tuscan countryside. Your peaceful surrounds are undulating hills dotted with cypress and olive trees and the vineyards are fringed by sun-drenched roses and plain trees. Tucked away among the natural splendour is Lucca, your closest town, known for its delicious pasta dishes, beautiful medieval streets and exquisite restaurants. ALBERTA FARMHOUSE is located in the hamlet of S. ALESSIO which offers a wide range of delicious restaurants and old shops such as butchers, grocery stores, bakeries, cheese and wines shops and even a well-stocked supermarket of local foods.
Inside the villa, a masterful restoration harmoniously combines country chic interiors with typical Tuscan flair. The result is an atmosphere as warm as the weather outside. Traditional flagstone floors lead you to the outdoor dining room under an alfresco porch. The fully equipped country-style kitchen opens onto the outside dining area. On cooler evenings you can also opt to dine in the formal dining room which seats up to 12 people. There are also 2 living rooms both with a fireplace and a bathroom. On the first floor there are four bedrooms (three of which with a king size bed and one with two twin beds) and two full bathrooms
Outside this rustic-style farmhouse there are various places to relax and enjoy good wine and fine food while taking in the incomparable views. The large pool area (set on a higher level) is fringed by a pool house that features an additional bathroom with toilet and sink plus a warm outdoor shower.
Wifi and Air conditioning are available throughout the property. .Tv has international channels including BBC and CNN.
LAYOUT:
Ground floor: Entrance; double salon with dining/sitting area and fireplace; sitting room with fireplace; spacious kitchen with French windows opening on a veranda with outdoor dining area and wood fire-place; bathroom.
First floor: 2 double bedrooms; bathroom (bath and shower); twin bedroom; double bedroom with en-suite bathroom (shower).
There's nothing for it but to relax ALBERTA FARMHOUSE is the perfect spot!

We had an amazing stay at “Villa Alberta”! Lucca Apartments & Villas exceeded our expectations, their professionalism and responsiveness made us feel very well taken care of! We can’t say enough for the property itself! The decor, the grounds and the pool area were PERFECTION!!
Everything was beautiful and being able to meet the owners Betty & Enzo, and hear the history of their home was so special. What a lovely couple!!! Not to mention the lovely gift of focaccia, salami & Prosecco they left us was so generous and delicious! Our property manager Renate was very lovely and explained all the ins and outs of the house, and gave us some very good recommendations for places to visit around the area. We would definitely rent from Lucca Apartments and Villas again without question! Thanks all for making our anniversary time in Lucca amazing!!

Stop looking for Holliday homes, this is the one! We have never stayed in such a clean house before. Every single thing you can think of is there. It is decorated in the local style, and very very comfortable. The beds are really good! The nights are so quiet… We slept so well! The villa looks even better than on the pictures. And has an enormous garden, full of olive trees. Our kids loved to run around and explore (garden is fenced). We even took a (chilly) swim in the wonderful pool. And spent a lot of time in the roofed terrace. We truly recommend everyone who loves comfortable-clean-quiet-big-idyllic holliday homes in the middle of vineyards and olive trees!
For us the villa was truly amazing. The only thing I can think of is: As the weather was still cold when we arrived (in April), the villa still needed to be warmed up a bit. There is airco in every room, so that was fine but the air is a bit dry then and the floors stay cold. However, I can imagine that the house stays cool when it becomes (too) hot in summer. So it will depend on the season!

What an amazing place to spend a week at the end of the summmer! We loved the outdoor space for meals, swimming and just hanging out. The villa is beside several wineries where we tasted and purchased wine and olive oil.
Lots of space inside the villa with huge bedrooms and a well equiped kitchen. Everything was well kept and spotless. The friendly owners left us prosecco, cheese and salami...a great welcome gift that was much appreciated after a long day of travel.
We did not have a car but our host Renata gave us the contact info of a taxi driver who drove us to Lucca every day and picked us up.
A big thank you to Renata who was always there to answer our questions and help us figure things out. She did a great job!
I would recommend this lovely home if you want a true Tuscan vacation experience in a beautiful setting minutes to Lucca.
Everything was perfect!

We had the most wonderful week at Casa Betty. The Villa was spotless upon arrival. The hosts were warm and welcoming. They clearly take great pride and care of their beautiful place. Our kids adored the pool and swam daily. The bedrooms worked out well for our family (Air conditioning in each room was appreciated!). Renate, the villa manager, is extremely responsive and very helpful.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and had an amazing time. Our hosts met us at the house when we arrived and gave us a tour of the house plus lots of local recommendations. The house was beautiful, spacious and had the best view from the pool. There were some nearby villas but the house felt very private and it was very peaceful.

We had a wonderful stay. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owners and Maria Pia. They explained how everything worked and also had excellent recommendations for food and activities. The home is absolutely gorgeous, and it is exactly as described in the listing. It was very peaceful. We loved beginning our day with our morning coffee outside at the table. We were able to easily make day trips to Florence, Cinque Terre, Montecarlo, the Collegiate Church of San Cristoforo in Barga, Garfagnana and more. We also loved exploring inside the wall of Lucca. We highly recommend this.

Perfect location Great place Sweet hosts. In my opinion we only used 10% of everything the villa gives to its guests. We will be happy to return in the future.

My friends and I had a fantastic week in Casa Betty. We met the owners at check in who were extremely welcoming and kind. The location is beautiful and convenient for Lucca via cartaxi. It has everything you need for an enjoyable stay and the pool is especially great. Definitely visit the winery next door. I totally recommend this place for a relaxing holiday.

This is a mid-size villa that will grow on you. We were two couples traveling together and the house was sized right for the four of us. It gave us each our own private bath - one as an ensuite and the other across the hall.
Here's what we liked...
Kitchen - it was loaded with everything you could possibly need in preparing meals, with one exception - no microwave. But, it had ample dishes, pots and pans. Nice table in the middle of the room for conversation.
Loggia - the outdoor patio was where we spent our time. Quaint, comfortable with decent views of Lucca in the distant. We stoked up the outdoor pizza oven and enjoyed some homemade pizza.
Swimming pool - Nice setting with 10 various chairs and lounges. It has a separate bathhouse to use to avoid having to hoof it down to the house. It's around 20 steps up to the pool, but it's clean, comfortable and very private.
Bedrooms - Air conditioned and spacious. Beds were firm but comfortable. Lots of storage via built-in cabinets and wardrobes. One bedroom has an ensuite bath and the other three bedrooms share one full bath. Perfect for two couples traveling together, but more than that could be less than ideal.
Location - The villa is only a couple of miles from stores and restaurants. Very private and quiet. The last mile or two up to the villa is very narrow and winding so be prepared. We discovered several delightful restaurants within 15 minutes.
This is a hidden gem and a great value! Recommended.
Since you asked, here are some issues that could improve the overall experience:
Lighting - Could be improved. Many of the fixtures are old and could benefit from a facelift. There's a difference between being "old and quaint" and simply "old".
Landscaping - the property could benefit from some serious trimming and pruning to open up the vistas of Lucca below. It feels a bit overgrown in key areas. It would emphasis one of the property's greatest assets.
Trash containers - While I admire the recycling program, it is tough to manage when there is no way to separate the trash indoors. I suggest additional indoor containers to make it easier.
Microwave - Counterspace is tight, but consider some way to add a small microwave even if it's just to heat up a cup of coffee.
New cushions - consider new outdoor cushions for the loggia and for pool area to improve comfort of seating.
All are minor issues and didn't distract from a great week at the property

This Villa is so lovely, the owners and Mariapia were so helpful. The house is gorgeous, the pool inviting. We had a wonderful time, although, next time we would hire a car.. our mistake. Having said that the local taxis and Restaurant owners and next door winery were very accommodating. Great for families to get togetheras a base to explore Lucca and surrounding areas. Pictures tell you everything. You will enjoy this lovely place, a gem ! Thank you Sidrak and family.

Perfekt perfekt perfekt!

We enjoyed a fabulous week in Villa Alberta, situated in the hills of Lucca, just a few minutes drive outside of Luccas Old Town. We mostly spend our time on the outside terrace and the pool area which were great! Very well equipped kitchen, we also used the pizza oven - very much recommended. Mariapia was very helpful during check-in and always answered within a few minutes when we asked for restaurant recommendations, also helping us with the orders for home delivery etc. Don’t miss out to book a wine tasting with Guiseppe at the winery next door!

What a Villa, what a view!! Thank you Betty and Enzio for letting us stay in your beautiful villa and for being so kind and helpful at any time. Also a big thank to Mariapia for all your help and support. We enjoyed 12 days in Villa Alberta (Villa Betty), situated in the hills of Lucca, just a few minutes drive outside of Luccas Old Town. We visited the Old Town very often, took a bike ride at the city wall, had the best dinner at Da Pasquale and visited every shop and marked you can imagine(we were travelling with 5 young people from 16-25 :-)) The afternoons we mostly spend on the outside terrace and the pool area which were great! Very well equipped kitchen, we also used the pizza oven - very much recommended. If Lucca is ever on our holiday plan, Villa Betty will absolutely be our first choice.

Exactly what we hoped it would be
Beautiful villa overlooking Lucca. Wonderful old home with modern conveniences. Very clean, very elegant, lovely owners and perfect property manager. Communication was great, and they provided a lot of local information for our stay. The pool was lovely, clean and overlooked Lucca. We wanted to stay in a Tuscan villa and we got our wish. Beautiful outdoor space for dining and relaxing.

Fabulous from start to finish!
We’re a family of 4 (all adults) and stayed at the property for a total of 7 nights.
Having made the booking, I immediately received an email from Sonia (property manager) with lots of details. As we approached the dates for our stay, I was put in contact with Cristina, who then dealt with getting us checked in and helping out with any queries whilst in country. Cristina was a real pleasure to deal with – warm, friendly and very helpful. We also met Betty and Ezzio at check-in. They are the owners and were also very welcoming and friendly.
The property was even better than we’d hoped for. It provided for the flexibility of self-catering, whilst also offering the luxurious feel of being in a hotel. The private pool area is divine, looking down over Lucca and the surrounding hills and countryside. Lucca is about 15-20 minutes away by car. It’s attractive, dripping with history and has some wonderful restaurants. For self-catering, the large Co-op on the edge of Lucca is very good, but there are also a number of smaller supermarkets, one of which is only about 5-7 minutes drive from the property.
Facilities are very good. We tended to eat out once each day for a large meal, then eat bread, cheeses, meats, salad etc at the property, so we can’t comment on the ease of cooking. There is a barbecue available and the covered outside dining area is absolutely perfect. The air conditioning is modern and very effective and, along with the comfortable beds, allow for a good quality night’s sleep. There is ample room to park your hire car (you’ll need one, the property is wonderfully remote) and you will be talked through the remote control for the entry gates on arrival. Don’t forget to bring whatever power adapters you need. There is a washing machine available, which helps reduce the amount you need to pack, plus a dishwasher to ease the burden of clearing up after meals.
DO BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT! If you’re sat outside, especially during the mornings and evenings, there is no shortage of mosquitos.
All in all, if you’re looking for a peaceful retreat in luxurious surroundings, I can’t recommend Casa Betty too highly. We loved our time there and will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much to Betty, Ezzio and Cristina. Look forward to seeing you again sometime and I promise to work on my Italian!

Beautiful villa
We spent 2 wonderful weeks in this beautiful villa at the end of May. Everything about the villa was perfect. It was furnished to a high standard, the kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need. The outside dining area was used for all our meals from breakfast through to supper. The lovely pool was the icing on the cake for relaxing in the sun. The pool and surrounding are were kept immaculately clean. It was a pleasure to meet owners, Betty and Etzio who could not do enough to make our stay perfect. We would love to return here one day.

Wonderful retreat in a very special surrounding
We simply had a wonderful time at Casa Betty! The house is beautiful, the decoration in every room very neat, the bedrooms to dream of with very comfortable mattresses and the bathrooms in great shape! It comes with so many extras, one of them the wood oven on the porch, which we used to prepare our own pizzas - a delicious experience! The garden is beautiful with colorful flowers and well looked after and the pool is amazing with the best view over Lucca and the valley. The owners are a wonderful, lovely couple who greated us warmly upon our arrival and departure and the team of Mrs. Sonia and Mrs. Cristina, who corresponded with us previous to our arrival and met us at the house, were very welcoming and answered every question we had within very short time. We thank you all for a wonderful experience. Casa Betty was a great starting point for day trips not only to Lucca, but to Pisa, Livorno, Florence and all northern Tuscany.

Villa Alberta is Paradise!
The villa was just outstanding, the view was unbelievable, and the company, was as always, superb... Lucca was fun, but I think we were so spoiled from our amazing week at your beautiful villa that it paled in comparison. We truly had the most amazing vacation. The villa is so special... thank you! Everything we wanted... Peaceful & quiet retreat yet convenient to town. Lovely owners
Ms Sonia is the property manager and her staff were attentive and addressed our needs promptly. The owners were incredibly charming. They performed their own maintenance (landscaping and weekly linen changes). They were warm and offered many suggestions beyond what had been provided the extensive list provided by Ms Sonia’s team. The home itself was very well appointed. We spent a lot of time enjoying the pool, dined al fresco for every meal, made numerous trips into Lucca for shopping and Gelato, tours, cooking class, meals and of course lots of bike riding. The owners suggested trips along the Ligurian coast and were reachable in less than 2 hours. We hit the market in Forte Dei Marmi several times and spent the day at the beach afterwards. Pietra Santa was another great art colony we visited within 40 min from the villa. Next door neighbor runs a hotel on his olive oil farm and vineyards. He offers a nice historical tour of the property including the “Mansion” with olive oil and wine tasting for 25 euro. Worth the expense and can’t get much more local than that. We arranged a couple nights with private chef and also several massages with Sonia (ask Ms Sonia’s for her Sonia (the massage therapist) contact info. She came to the house and was awesome.

forever memories
Greetings from America. It’s been some time since we communicated. Don’t take that as anything other than it’s like taunting to remember how wonderful a time we had while knowing we won’t be back as soon as we would like… We bragged so much about the Villa that some people actually listened. My sister has a group interested in a couple of weeks next June… Oh, our group is talking about returning in 2019, so don’t go anywhere and please alert the local wineries.
