Beautiful views, tastefully decorated, great location
Had a problem with plumbing

Such a view! Loved the view, loved the patio space, kitchen worked well, we enjoyed the refreshing pool on a hot day. It was so nice having bread and pastries every day, although we couldn't eat nearly that much. Very friendly, helpful staff. Would gladly stay again.
If I have to complain about something, the middle bedroom shower drain did not work well, it drained too slow. There was an odor in the house at times from a smelly drain or toilet. Only minor problems overall.

Thanks for the hospitality you provided prior to arriving and on arrival day. A real strength of the property is the view and the condition of the living room.
Kitchen-
The coffee machine was old and the water leaked.
The kettle does not switch off when the water boiled. This is a safety issue.
There were no tablets for the dishwasher (for the price paid we would have expected these to be available, on arrival)
The cooker worked however, was very slow to warm up.
There was only one red wine glass and none are a matching set.
There was dirt on top of the dishwasher
Bathroom-
This was a very big disappointment
There is damp on the ceiling and over the 3 days this became more uncomfortable.
There was no ventilation in the bathroom so it was always damp
There was a odour smell (it became worse after the residents in the other apartment moved in on our final night)
The towels were appalling (old, thin, poor quality) and definitely not outstanding
Bedroom-
The mattress protector was very uncomfortable. Noisy and felt like sleeping on plastic.
The mattress was not good quality and not very comfortable.
The curtains are loose and not fixed securely.

The view from the balcony is amazing! You can trust the picture. Well situated to visit Douro Vineyards (some can be visited on foot from the property). The rooms are airy, the kitchen is well equipped. There are clementine and lemon trees in the garden and vineyards start at the very step of you door!
The pool is unheated and the water too cold for my taste. But I know most people like cool pool water.

Fantastic accomodaation and beautiful view - enormous appartment and a nice pop up pool - the kitchen was well equipped and easy to use. Hosts were really kind and helpful
Difficult to find and steep climb in the heat as the sat nav takes you in the wrong direction .... could be better signposted

Most beautiful view in Douro valley
Walk down to town not too bad but difficult climb back up. Needed to use local taxi as no Uber

The hosts were very nice and hospitable. They were very kind and offered us on several occasions pasteis de nata and made us tonic ports. The views over the river Douro and Pinhao from the verandah are just amazing!
A little bit difficult to find the entrance. We were expecting two bathrooms in unit 2 as per description on the website. There was only one bathroom with a toilet and another separate toilet.

Stunning views! Love this quinta! Best in the area by far! The hosts, Maria and Carlos, are the most welcoming and kind people we have ever met. Maria is such a lovely lady - one in a million! She made us feel like we were part of the family. Complimentary white port cocktails and Portuguese custard tartlets were real treats.
Breakfast and dinner on the terrace with breathtaking views of the River Douro and Douro valley. Their dog Kira, a soft, gentle giant, very affectionate, came to see us every day.
The property was very clean and decorated in a traditional way. We had a memorable holiday! Will be back soon!
Nothing.

We found Quinta da Galeira easily and the car park is just further along from the main entrance. There’s probably room for 4-6 vehicles which should be ample for the size of the premises.
Quinta da Galeira is situated high above the village with glorious views of the river, and our particular house (no 1) is lovely. It is roomy, well furnished and has the luxury of a small patio area. It is also very well equipped and is a real home from home.
The staff here are very welcoming and I include the big, soft dog who greeted us and demanded to be petted.
Without doubt this is one of the finest places we have ever stayed. As everybody points out, the views of the Douro and the village are fantastic, but such views come at a price - and I mean the walk to and from town. It is very steep and includes cobbled streets and steep staircases. A careful 15 minute down trip can be easily doubled on the way back up. Although I am in my seventies, I am reasonably fit and mobile, as is my wife who is in her 60s. I would suggest however that anyone who is not fit or has mobility issues should avoid the walk.
The bottom line - this fabulous accommodation makes a perfect base for touring the Douro valley - one of the most beautiful areas in the world. We look forward to returning.
The only downside was the walk back up from the village. wewere ok with it, but some people might struggle.

Exceptional views of the Douro Valley.
This property could be charming if there was more sufficient lighting. We had cloudy/rainy weather during our stay and the indoors was really dim. And the rain shorted out the lighting in the play room, so no pool or ping pong.

Breakfast good
There was a dog in the vicinity that barked nonstop till 2:00 am one morning. I don’t know why. It was a real nuisance

Location was good. Convenient for what we wanted. The view was fabulous...great to wake up to. Big apartment space.
We were supposed to have been met on arrival but no-one was there so I had to call and then was told what room we were in. That was it as far as communication went.
The bathroom stunk and needs some more lighting in it. The gaming room needs some attention such as new pool cues and table tennis bats and balls.

lovely location- unbelievable views
it was cold but we lit the fire so the apartment warmed up nicely

This was a clean and cosy house with a large private terrace that had absolutely spectacular views. The beds were comfortable and kitchen adequate for cooking simple meals. We did a 1 hour cruise along the Douro from the wharf at Pinhao which was so serene and a must to see the wine terraces from the water. We ate out at the Writers Place one night (pretty average food) and lunch at Veladouro (really good food).

Unbelievable location and views of the Douro. Spotlessly clean accommodation which felt like a Portuguese home. The pool was immense fun on a hot day; and the view from the pool… wow!
Nothing.

Fantastic view from the private large balcony. Three large separate bedrooms with bathroom. Fully equipped kitchen.
Sometimes smelly bathrooms.

great view, nice bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, family room and balcony with spectacular view of Douro River. Very clean and fresh and helpful staff.
We did not have our own car so going up and down was a bit challenging because we did not speak Portuguese to get taxi service. Walking down to town in day time was no problem but walking up is a good hike. No food/breakfast service at property. Pinhao is a small town and all stores and restaurants were closed on Sundays.

The terrace was incredible, the view looking over the Douro river and vineyards was spectacular. The place was very spacious with everything you needed. We throughly enjoyed our stay.

The view is absolutely spectacular and the house was characterful
Shower could do with repair, swimming pool had a lot of bugs in when we first arrived but I think that might just be because of the environment the property is in

The views from this property are simply stunning. The living room and three bedrooms all share this view, each room having double doors out onto the terrace that stretches the length of the property. Breakfast on the terrace with that view is pretty special! The house has the character of a family home and a traditional rather than modern feel. We found it comfortable and well appointed. The pool is a raised one and we had it to ourselves on the days we were there. We didn't see much of our host but he very kindly appeared with gin-and-tonics for us one afternoon, much appreciated.
There is very little not to like about Quinta da Galeira. Small things... it has fans but no air conditioning. Pinhao was 47C on the day we arrived so we struggled a little to keep cool. And there is no washing machine. Other than that, all good!

We loved every minute of our time there.
The game room was hot.

Great location as long as you don't mind the trek up and down which we didn't mind. Great views from the terrace. Kitchen well kitted out when we cooked one night. Would have liked to use the pool but weather not great so didn't manage that. Enjoyed the white port and tonic the hosts brought us up on day 1. Good walks from the house up to a view point and back via vineyard.
The trek down with our cases but should have got a taxi as did on arrival. The rain, but can't blame the hosts for that.
