Carole and Kevin are the best! The property was beyond our expectations, to be in another country but feel like you are home is truly a wonderful experience.

The description and photos on the stayz site are extremely misleading. We anticipated a charming clean lakeside cottage with access to lakeside walks and kayaking. Instead we found the cottage neglected, dark cold and dirty. kitchen ware, shower , pots, pans etc. pretty much everything we had to wash before use. Nowhere near the lake we never found out how to access the promised trails and kayaks despite our questioning. It seems the owners believe they have established some sort of quaint heritage version of Ireland. As an Irish guest (living in Australia) I can confirm it is a big con designed for the American market. It is offensive that this is the image being portrayed as rural Ireland. I am surprised that this property is being promoted on your website. The owners however were kind and helpful when we had a medical incident for which we were very grateful. However this didn’t compensate for what was a very uncomfortable and miserable experience.

If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet, country setting complete with 2 loving dogs and 2 amazing donkeys...this is your place. It was such a wonderful stay we hated to leave. We are already planning our next vacation there next year. Carol and Kevin are amazing and it was a pleasure getting to know them. Can't say enough about their friendliness

Absolutely an amazing place to stay and the highlight of our month-long stay in Ireland. Carole and Kevin were incredible and made us feel so welcome. They couldn't do enough for us. They genuinely cared about ensuring our stay was memorable - and it was! The property is a delightful rural Irish experience. We spent many days just enjoying the extensive property; sitting by the fire; playing with the dogs; and walking the property. We have travelled extensively and this was a truly unique and exceptional experience.
We feel fortunate to have selected Williamstadt House for our stay in Ireland. We are also so grateful to Carole and Kevin for being such amazing hosts. Can't say enough about how incredible our stay with them was!!

We spent our first few nights here and couldn’t have been more charmed. Exploring the beautiful grounds with all its discoverable nooks and crannies was the best way to decompress and prepare for roving the Irish countryside. I was jazzed to collect fresh eggs for breakfast…how cool is that? We especially enjoyed the rollicking gang of poultry, the enthusiastic company of the (really adorable) dogs and laughter filled chats with Kevin.
Our host was really great and made sure we were well supplied and comfortable. Even after visiting many other beautiful spots, I still consider this first sojourn my favorite of this trip.

Quaint and quirky renovated cottage. Very quiet and peaceful. Carole was attentive and friendly. It was lovely feeding the donkeys through the window with apples supplied by Carole and we also had a welcoming committee of dogs, ducks and hens whenever we returned . The setting is ideal for expoloring "Hidden Ireland" which is beautiful. Also a good pub nearby for excellent meals and breakfast. Highly recommend the property.

Fabulous Staycation
Venue was idyllic and instantly calming. Great setting and lots to do in nature and place steeped in history. Kids had wonderful time with with Donkeys, chickens and dogs. Owners Kevin and Carole couldn’t have been more welcoming. Too much to mention but would recommend a stay!

Lovely weekend getaway
The atmosphere, the location, the hosts and the craic. We enjoyed every second we stayed here. Carole and Kevin are some of the most interesting characters we had the pleasure of meeting. So kind and accommodating. We can’t wait to come back. Until then, all the best. Kieran and Nora

Looking forward to singing the Boys of Barr Na Sraide with Kevin when I come back

Wonderful break
We really enjoyed our few days staying at this cottage, was very unique accommodation and we loved the old style. It was very peaceful and the surrounding areas were beautiful and enjoyed walks by lake and the Guinness in the local pub. Carole and Kevin were amazing hosts and we really enjoyed meeting them, in particular celebrating the new year. Would highly recommend a stay here!

Dream come true!
Exactly the place and adventure I had envisioned, we couldn't have been happier with the cottage, our fellow guests, or our hosts, Carole and Kevin. We are so glad we stayed at Williamstadt House and hope to make it back again one day!

Wonderful country oasis
Kevin and Carole have an amazing place. We awoke to a little country music (Chicken, rooster, ducks) every morning, and the beauty of the countryside. We stayed in the Games Keeper Cottage which was built around 1774 if I recall correctly. We based there for a few days at the end of our trip to decompress, relax, and explore some more of Ireland. It's a very short drive to Whitegate and the Half Barrel for food and a Guiness, Treacy's for staples, or a little further drive down to Flanagan's in Kilaloe. The accommodations were wonderful - comfortable beds, shower, full kitchen, and we were greeted each morning by the livestock and dogs when we ventured out. We really miss Walter, one of the dogs.
Can't say enough how welcoming Kevin and Carole are. We highly recommend a stay there. They will be our first choice when we are in that part of the country.

We had such a great time! We used this as our home base and ventured out on day trips. When we were at the cottage, Carole and Kevin were so inviting. Would recommend to anyone, whether you want to do day trips and not have to pack every few days like us or if you just want to stay close to the cottage and take in the local charm. Plenty of resources available within a half hour drive. Can't wait to stay again!!! Thanks Carole and Kevin for such a memorable experience!!!

Carole and Kevin welcomed us into their world, and we hated to leave it. The lodging was wonderful ... dogs, chickens, ducks and guinea hens included! We felt totally relaxed here, and, while it was a great place from which to venture out, we loved staying close to home and exploring local hidden treasures. This place, and these wonderful hosts will be first on our list the next time we venture to Ireland.

We fell in love with Carole and Kevin as much as we did their lovely home and all our new farm pals. It was very difficult to leave them, but they are our new friends and hope to have them in our lives for good. You don’t have to go far to discover Ireland’s beauty. It’s right here! ❤️❤️

My wife, 14 month old daughter and I were looking for a few days in the Irish Countryside and Carole/Kevin's home was the perfect match. They are very accommodating hosts and the two bedroom set up worked well for us. We did a lot of driving from there...even the Ring of Kerry. It was a joy coming back to our retreat each night. Our daughter loved the dogs, chickens, geese and donkeys on site. Hope to get back one day!

We just returned home after spending three wonderful nights in the Gameskeeper Cottage and are already wishing we could have stayed longer. When we arrived at the property, we were met by Carole, the owner, as well as, Walter & Sally, her two very intelligent and energetic dogs. Very soon after arriving, we met Kevin, Carole's spouse. Both he and Carole were a true delight and both made us feel immediately welcomed to their home. I can't say enough about the Gameskeeper Cottage and the property grounds. Every piece of it was breathtaking...from the cottage, the animal filled courtyard, the beautiful gardens and the cozy snug!
We especially loved our walks to Lough Derg with Sally and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to take a short kayaking trip on the lake. Thank you again Kevin and Carole for being the perfect hosts. We are looking forward to our return stay!

Cozy and comfortable; wonderful hosts!
Our family of 4 recently stayed at the Gamekeeper's cottage and we were taken immediately taken with the welcoming ambiance as soon as we arrived. Chickens and peahens roaming the courtyard, beautiful flowers in containers and who could forget the dogs - Sally and Walter!!
Carole and Kevin are wonderful hosts - so warm and friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The cottage was inviting and well outfitted when it came to do our own cooking or just sitting in front of the fireplace. Carole invited us to try sampling some gins from her recent gin tasting gathering earlier in the day. Kevin invited us to the main house, to watch the Irish game of Hurling, which was exciting. I wish we would have booked the cottage for a longer stay - I will know for next time. :) We were easily able to do a day trip to to Cliffs of Moher from the location. But there is so much more to explore in the area. Thank you Kevin for recommending stopping for breakfast at the Half Barrel on our departure day. It was delicious. Thank you Carole and Kevin for such wonderful memories of our first trip to Ireland.

Fabulous place to stay, step back in time with modern conviences!
My husband and I spent a week at The Gamekeeper Cottage and that was too short of time. We really wanted to see what the real Ireland was about and we found it here with Carole and Kevin Clarke. Salt of the earth people and very accomadating to the tee. Beautiful country everywhere you look. With me being raised on a farm I felt right at home with the barnyard chickens and ducks. We spent most of our time with the locals and walking the countryside surrounding the area. Can't say enough about the whole experience thank you Kevin and Carol.

It’s exactly what your mind and body need
We arrived quite late and were so excited when we turned the corner to see the property. Kevin drive to meet us in the village to guide us in and from the outset, he and carole perfectly matched the charm of the place. Invited in for a warming drink, it’s obvious this couple are in the right business- hospitable, genuine and so interesting. Kevin is a descendant if the original owners dating back to the 1600’s. We were spoilt in the cottage with homemade bread, milk and eggs, chocolate and flowers. The goal is clearly to make their guests welcome and special and profit second. It is the best value for money and we were so sad to leave. Thanks for the tip to go to Galway too Carole!! Love you guys

COUNTY CLARE IRELAND
My girls and I came to Ireland to enjoy the countryside and explore our family roots. In the process we found so much more. Whitegate and the gamekeepers cottage is the perfect launching point to see some of Irelands greatest treasures. If you want authentic—this is it. We can’t say enough about the Clarke’s, as they were so helpful in every way and a joy to sit and talk with. Oh— and then there’s Cooper—the shorthaired pointer!!! Wow, well you’ll just have to go see him. At the cottage we had everything we needed. We had plenty of space, room to cook, and plenty of hot water. My daughters have told me that we HAVE TO go back to Ireland, so you can bet that when we do, we will be staying at the gamekeepers cottage. Many—many thanks to the Clarke’s, we had a blast!!!!

Great time!
We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful time. Carole and Kevin were terrific hosts and we had a wonderful time chatting with them. Their home is absolutely beautiful. We were traveling with our small children and they loved all that there was to do on the property and in the surrounding area. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. This place is a great stay off the beaten path, in a beautiful Irish location. Highly recommend!

Have a True Irish Experience at This Location!!!
Go back in time as you stay on the grounds of the Williamstadt House. The Game Keepers Cottage is a charming stone building located next to the Williamstadt House. We were greeted by the owners Carole and Kevin and were gifted with an apple pie and fresh eggs. We were invited up to the big house for tea upon arrival and were made to feel so welcome. Carole took us on a walk down to the harbor and around the neighboring area. The cottage is tastefully decorated with all the amenities you could need. Carole and Kevin were very helpful in giving us advice on what to do and where to go while staying in the area. I highly recommend staying here, if you want to feel enmeshed in the Irish culture.

Beautiful Very Irish with abundance of personality
We spent 6 wonderful days here drinking in the farm surroundings while listening to Kevin's stories and getting guidance from Carol on the best places to visit not on the tourist trap . The surrounding countryside is beautiful with lovely walks to ruins and the lake meeting local celebrities along the way. The Cottage was warmed with a log fire and eclectically decorated with antiques, souvenirs from Africa and colorful pillows and Cosy throws. We were greeted by two well behaved dogs and two donkeys. Woke to sounds of doves cooing and an occasional donkey . Dinner in the barn and open fire with port cheese and our hosts company made us feel at home.
We will be back for sure if they will have us. Thank you so much for sharing your home and lives with us
