Our 2 weeks was AWESOME! Communicating with the owner was great he responded to our needs and concerns quickly. The grill on the deck was a plus.

We had a very calm, quiet relaxing week at the cabin!

Beautiful property. The cabin it self could have been a bit cleaner. Especially the bathroom. Medicine cabinet is broken. Should be updated (fixed)

We had the same issues as another reviewer. The overwhelming odor of mildew resulted in us leaving after one night. The owner denied a smell when we told him about it and said that we were first to complain. The odor is particularly bad in the bedrooms. Anyone who has allergy issues should note. Carpets and linens were moist from the humidity. Water stains in the ceiling. There were exposed electrical boxes. Table lamps didn’t work. The water supply comes from the lake and is not cleaned so you need to bring your own bottled water. Host provides 2 gallons. This should be mentioned on the description so people can prepare. Lots of areas needed cleaning. Steep access to the water. The deck was nice and the lake was pleasant.

My son and I had a wonderful week here. The lake is beautiful, and we used the cabin’s kayaks, canoe, and paddle boards to explore all of the coves. It’s close to Bar Harbor and great hiking.

We really enjoyed the lake and the dock. Greg was very responsive and excellent to communicate with. It was about an hour to drive to Acadia, but was a very quiet place to be.

Our family of 4 has stayed on Phillips Lake in the past and it's a beautiful spot! We stayed in a similar camp - small and rustic and we appreciate the charm of old camps. That said, this home is in need of some updating. We left after one day (giving up 7 days rental), opting to rent the place next door for below reasons. The owner will of course dispute all of these comments and we didn't leave on great terms so renters I suggest reading all reviews.
1. There was a strong odor of mildew and wet dog smell that we could not eliminate even with opening the windows and doors. Note another review further down that mentioned similar complaint.
2. The cushions on the wicker furniture were nearly void of filling. We relayed this to the owner and he said he has since fixed this problem.
3. The carpets were all damp making it uncomfortable to walk around. Owner said this was due to carpet cleaning that hadn't dried.
4. Window screens were loaded with cobwebs and bugs and seemingly hadn't been cleaned in months.
5. The bed sheets, while hopefully laundered, were stained in many places. And the pillows are old and yellowed.
I think all of the above could have been manageable were it not for the smell.
I have stayed in more than 30 rentals like this, and this is the first time we have had such an experience so I don't write this lightly.
That said, Greg is communicative and helpful host and he responded to our feedback on his property in a gracious manner.

Had a lovely time. Lake is clean and the view is just beautiful from the house. Bed was comfortable and our hosts were friendly and available for anything. No internet so had to use a mobile hotspot. Dish TV worked well. Our dogs enjoyed the lake as much as we did. Kayaks and paddle boards were available to use whenever we felt like going. We had a enjoyable and relaxing vacation with our 2 dogs.

We had a wonderful stay in this lake house located just under an hour outside Bar Harbor. We spent several days of our vacation swimming in the lake from the dock, fishing, & exploring the lake’s islands by canoe & kayak. Greg was a wonderful host and very attentive to our needs. Thanks for a fantastic stay!

Nice spacious place. Pond is great to swim, but somewhat deeper, so may not be ideal for little kids. washer and dryer is so great for a week stay.

Phillips Lake camp
The peace and tranquillity of this Maine camp, especially listening to the loons every evening, was exactly what we needed. The deck was a spacious gathering point with plenty of trees for shade. We enjoyed swimming and paddle boarding from the dock. We hope to return again next summer.

Great week by the lake
Great, rustic accommodations. Laundry in the basement was a bonus. Wonderful owners live right next door, very helpful with local info. A canoe and several kayaks to choose from, with a dock at your back door. Peaceful and pet-friendly; our dog also had a great vacation.

While the views are breathtaking the property is not
Views of the lake are breathtaking- the property not so much
There was a pet odor that was overwhelming- mainly in the bedrooms
We left midweek as it was difficult to eat and sleep with the odor
This I communicated to the property owner & did not receive a reply

Camp Review
Property is very basic in terms of kitchen, furniture etc. Not the cleanest. Location is superb with waterfront dock, access to water, boating, swimming etc. Owners were accessible and super nice. Place just needs a bit of love.

Picturesque Lake
Phillips lake is beautiful and the topography of the land the cabin sits on is gorgeous - large rocks, a cute little beach area for wading, and some flat areas to sit and enjoy the outdoors (besides the spacious deck). If you stay, make sure to canoe/kayak the lake. There are several islands that are wonderful to explore. Our week started with some stormy weather so we enjoyed the view with the ample windows to look out over the lake. The rest of the week was Chamber of Commerce weather, so sitting on the deck or dock was so relaxing. Greg was very responsive to the one question we had (location of a paddle). My wife enjoyed morning walks since the streets wind around the lake with postcard views.

Great Experience
Great experience with this rental! Everything you’d want in a Maine lake house. Beautiful lake, and views right from the deck. Quiet evenings spent listening to loons on the water. Short trip to Acadia and surrounding areas. 5/5 recommend.

Beautiful property. Amazing lake views. Incredible deck. Loved listening to the loons at night. Gregg the owner was great and saved Father’s Day dinner with a lobster pot. Thank you! Overall a wonderful time in this lakeside rustic Maine camp.

Among the rocks
We 3 old codgers enjoyed our stay. We liked watching the jet skis, the sailboats and families enjoing the waters in the pontoon boats.
we were fasinated by the large rocks. The beds were comfotable but the small person in the bottom buck hit her head a few times. We would be happy to use this cottage again. We used it as a base for travel to all the interesting places near and far.

Outstanding in every way!
This camp has a panorama view of the cove that is beautiful. It is in a sheltered cove that has great views of water and wildlife. The camp is very well equipped and we enjoyed the use of the canoe to sightsee and fish. Saw a Bald Eagle at 20 feet as it flew over us while we were fishing, saw loons close up and really enjoyed hearing them call to each other. Had a great time fishing for smallmouth bass and landed on that was over 3 lbs! Waking up each morning to see the lake without the slightest ripple on it was tremendous. We're ready to go back it is so peaceful and exciting at the same time. I can't imagine anyone not falling in love with this camp! We'll be back.

Neat little cabin on an ancient glacial lake
Thought living in the middle of Illinois, my wife and I had always talked about visiting Maine, so when an old College room mate had his wedding there, we didn't hesitate. We started looking for rentals, and found a cute little place for what seemed like a great price. Boy were we right!
The owners were very accommodating and friendly, and were more than willing to work with us. When we arrived, they made available their kayaks, canoe, life jackets and various other toys for use in the deep but surprisingly warm lake (much warmer that the ocean!). There were also plenty of clean linens and towels, and there is a nice market within 5 miles. The cabin was very comfortable. We felt at home right away, and found the bed almost too comfortable. Watch for the loons on the lake and deer in the yard.
There is plenty to do in nearby Bangor, Ellisville and Bar Harbor. Too many good restaurants to remember. If you want to go whale watching, I would suggest that you make a reservation early in your stay, as the fog comes in often and cancels tours.
Take a hike up bald peak in Arcaida if you want a short but (somewhat) challenging hike, don't mind heights, and love a beautiful view! Also, as any of the friendly locals will tell you, you MUST drive up Cadillac mountain.
If you are driving from the midwest, I would highly recommend that you take Highway 202 and 2 through Massachusetts (take the interstate north @ Springfield to get to it) rather than 90 all the way. It's much less hectic (i.e. dangerous), actually faster, and far prettier. Wish we had another week! We would not hesitate to stay here again!! To the gracious owners, thank you so much!!!

Great Location!
Loved being close to the coast, close to Bangor, and on the lake. The camp was great for us and our two kids (2 and 4 yrs). Bangor's Bagel Central has the best bagels, McGlaughlin's & the Sea Dog have excellent seafood, and Frank's bakery has the best donuts and baked goods. The lake is a great backdrop to work off all that great food jogging, walking, and swimming! We took several day trips to Bar Harbor and Schoodic Point also-- boat tours, Acadia National Park... A great vacation spot.

Great Getaway vacation spot
My girlfriend and I stayed Labor Day week and it was a exactly what we were looking for. The listing is accurate and the cottage is quiet and peaceful and a family friendly location. The open layout of the cottage and the large attached deck overlooking the lake was great for our family (ages 2 and up) who visited during our stay. The lake is great for kayaking, canoeing and swimming. Dinner at the Lucerne Inn was wonderful and we caught a concert (Lady Antebellum and Sunny Sweeney) on the Bangor waterfront. The owners were responsive and a pleasure to deal with throughout the whole process.

Perfect vacation
Really enjoyed everything about the place. Perfect for me and my girlfriend and our dog. Would be also well suited to a family, but 2 couples would be tricky as is because one room has bunk beds.
Quaint and modest with a great dock on a beautiful Lake. Sunset view! Dock got sun all day long. Great paddling out to the lake islands for swims and lunch. Fun topography to the property.
Owners were very helpful and friendly. We are already looking forward to returning next summer!

Peaceful week in Maine
Just returned from a week at this rental. The cottage was pretty much as advertised. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. Good location and the owners are great to work with. One of the most relaxing vacations ever. Quiet on the lake but close enought to enjoy Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Highlight of week: seeing the bald eagle (each day) while out canoeing on the lake. Worried our teenaged boys might be bored but they had a great time, too!

Wonderful piece of the world
I have rented this home several years in a row. The lake is so peaceful and beautiful. The home is well kept and is in a great location, 15 minutes to Bangor, 45 minutes to Acadia. Great lake for kayaking, canoeing and swimming. The owners are wonderful. I have recommended this rental to friends.
