This is truly a cabin in the woods - a 100+ year old cabin in a very private and wooded location. The property is about 150 yards from the nearest neighbor, and almost a half mile from any other houses. The private location made it a very nice place to stay, and the road in provided a nice 0.4 mile walk each way (but is a little steep).
The highlights for us were the comfortable porches and seating areas, and the well equipped kitchen. The porch provided a quiet area to take in the outdoors and the sound of all the birds. There was a small porch off the upstairs bedroom that was also nice. The kitchen had all the basics and ample choices for pots and pans - perfect for cooking your own meals. The one drawback was the lack of a dishwasher, but that would be hard to fit into the older cabin without major construction.
There was room for some minor updates in terms of maintenance. The grass needed trimming - not really mowing because there is no lawn on the wooded property. There were also a lot of cobwebs - but not unexpected in a cabin. Neither of these was a big deal and the property was clean and well maintained. Wifi worked well and the TV had access to plenty of streaming channels.
This location is a bit distant from Acadia - probably an hour and fifteen minutes from the park. But the benefit is you have no traffic and good access to stores. Jones Lobster was a good source for lobster and fresh fish. There is a large Walmart available for necessities.

This cabin offers a great secluded stay in the woods just up from Phillips Lake, leaving nothing more to be desired other than additional time to stay. The lake is just a short walk down the hill, there you can fish and kayak easily. The amenities in the cabin are ample with towels and everything needed to cook and clean. The host Lita was exceptional, providing instructions and things to do in the area. I hope to find myself back up in Maine in the future and stay again.

The cabin was further in the woods then I thought by the description. It's a super cute cabin. On the first night we saw two mice. The host was responsive in telling us where mouse traps were. We caught two that first night. That experience was not what I was expecting, although I realize it's a cabin in the woods and that's probably to be expected but it did put a huge damper on things for me. I was there with my friend and two daughters and they were not as put out as I. The experience with the mice will make for a funny story some day I'm sure. My daughter also got a tick so be prepared for the woods and all the critters and crawlers that live there too.

If you want a place to stay that in the woods this is it. Large cozy cabin nestled in the woods right near the lake. Listen to the wildlife at night and see the stars. Firepit outside with a wood burning stove inside with all the modern luxuries as well.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back in a second.

Seeing as it was built so long ago, I expected a few more quirks and cobwebs than we found. This was definitely a good thing! The house is well taken care of, and a lovely place to stay. We enjoyed our time here very much.

The property was very difficult to find. No markers. Up a dirt road. Cabin on the outside was as described. Inside was very musty smelling. Needs to be updated with clean furnishings. There was not a lake view as described. Upon Investigation we found black mold on walls In the basement which the owner stated she knew about but was waiting to fix after season. We were traveling with a cancer survivor and would never have stayed there had we been told about the mold.

If you are looking for a secluded cabin in the woods, this is it! Beautiful country and a great location. An hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park in one direction, and half an hour to Bangor in the other. If I ever go back to Maine, I would definitely stay here again.

Everything was as described, and easy to book. Cabin was nice, quiet and exactly what we were looking for. We're accustomed to staying at cabins, and this was one of the top ones we've stayed in. Highly recommend!

This secluded cabin above the lake was a pleasant surprise, feeling both unique and with an 'at-home' vibe to it. (The pictures don't do it justice! However, if you're looking for strong internet connection, I'd use a cell phone 'hot spot' if you're relying on technology). Although there isn't a ton to do in the neighborhood, we were able to find a couple spots to dine and enjoy the outdoors that were pretty local. Spending time around the fire pit was a convenient way to relax and unwind too, and there is enough room for a small group to enjoy more of the place. The cabin is also great if you're not into staying in typical 'touristy' areas but still want to be within short reach of Acadia, Ellsworth and Blue Hill areas. The other thing that stood out was the responsiveness of the Owner; on the occasion or two we needed to reach out, she was generous with her time and responses, and tried to be as helpful as possible. The calm and quiet we found in the charming family cabin in the woods was a great way to spend the Labor Day vacation, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was on the short list of repeat cabins in the future.

The cabin was very cute..but when we booked we were left with the impression that u could see the lake...you couldn't. The cabin is down a gravel road very remote, very. We are all older and were surprised there were no grab bars in either shower..normally not a problem but both bathrooms you had to step over and into a deep tub...also cabin smelled musty especially the basement. When we arrived the back door was standing open so we were surprised by this. I reported these things to the owner. We wouldn't stay again due to the remoteness of it and safely concerns with the tubs.

We love it there our third year it is peaceful and close to quite a few attractions . It is very secluded . The family enjoyed it .

Our stay was exactly what we hoped it would be. The property is a beautifully crafted log home nestled in the woods. We enjoyed hearing the loons at night, watching chipmunks and seeing Luna moths on the windows. It is 35 miles from Acadia, but a very easy drive with lots to do along the way. Lita was such a generous host, having plenty of utensils in the kitchen, lots of linens, soaps, shampoos, etc. Even in late June, it got very chilly at night, and having the wood stove was a great bonus. If you’re looking for something unique and a little “off the grid,” this is your place!

Was a wonderful stay, very peaceful. About an hour from Acadia for all of our plans we had there. Beautiful wild area for nature lovers.
4.7
Very clean, quiet, and convenient space, all the basic necessities were provided, including paper products and cooking supplies. Comfortable beds, everything we needed to rest between outings to the park and surrounding cities and attractions. Great stay!

We loved our stay here. So quiet, beautiful, and secluded. The property owner was very helpful and available when needed and we loved all the recommendations that were provided.

This vintage cabin on the mountain side provides an ideal setting to enjoy the solitude of the Maine woods and explore Acadia National Park nearby. The charm of this older cabin has been maintained while updates make it a comfortable place to relax. Loved the view from the upstairs bedroom in the morning and the eclectic book collection. Highly recommend.

Great log cabin in the woods. Beds were comfortable and everything was as advertised!

We had a good time in Maine, I just wish I would have done my
homework and found a place a little closer to Acadia Nat'l Park
It was not a bad trip in to the Park each day but all the suggestions that you gave us as to eats and other activities were
excellent, we ate at Chart Room, Trenton Bridge and Jordan Pond, also went to the observation tower in Bucksport and ate at Youngs in Belfast. All in all we had a great time. Thank you.

Beautiful home, very well stocked. Very peaceful and secluded. Setting is in the woods but the outside could have been kept up a lot better.

Needed a last minute Acadia National Park rental, and this wonderful site served the purpose if you are willing to drive 50 minutes to the park. We were, so all ended well!
4.7
The property was beautiful and secluded, located about an hour outside of Acadia. The pictures don’t do the property justice as far as the size and openness. It had many different spaces so you can spread out, including a large sunroom, a couple of decks to take in the view of the surrounding woods and even a small view of the lake from the upstairs deck. Even though it was rustic, it was beautifully maintained, clean and well stocked. Owners were very responsive. No problems accessing Wi-Fi and using smart TV.
4.7
very quiet and well planned out, plenty of firewood for warm campfires or woodstove. all the stuff you need for a great stay. cozy and remote. Only down side is terrible wifi, so no tv or internet. Otherwise, great destination.

The cabin was a pretty cabin but was disappointed that we didn't see the lake from the cabin as it was stayed in the advertisement.
The yard needs alot of maintenance hard to tell what was plants and what was weeds. As for the house it really needs a place to put clothes instead of living out of a suitcase. Washer and dyer is in the basement surrounded by owners things. The steps are very steep going down to basement. There is a room off to the kitchen that would be perfect for the washer and dryer. The outdoor grill is a piece of screen put over a fire pit that is falling apart. Also their is no air conditioning and the wifi doesn't work.

Beautiful Place
We love this home for vacation so much to do in the area and great spot . Quiet and secluded. And lots of lakes and ocean not far .

This beautiful woodland cabin is a quiet, magical place. We were so amazed with the craftmanship and attention to detail inside the cozy cabin. The upstairs sleeping area is like waking up in a tree house! The outside needs to have some maintenance done, as far as weed whacking goes and camp fireplace upkeep. This was such a serene place to come back to at the end of roadtrip adventure days.

An absolutely lovely cabin in the woods. Remote enough to not see other people while on the property, but close enough to get to town relatively quickly. A perfect place to rest up.

My husband and I really enjoyed the cabin. It was very sweet and had many nice personal touches and was larger than we expected . We had everything that we needed for a quiet getaway. There were many nice spots to sit and read and relax (one of my favorites was the tiny little toy room!). The beds were nice and comfy and plenty of towels, etc. Also some nice touches like having tea, coffee, and other kitchen basics and there was an actual tea kettle, a bonus for me to not have to heat water for tea in a microwave! The only downside is what other reviewers have said in terms of distance from Acadia but we knew that going in and it was not an issue for us (of course we had no little kids with us-just the two of us and our golden retriever). We enjoyed exploring the towns along the way. The driveway and road up to cabin is steep if you want to take a walk on the road around the lake. I am 63 though and did that most days with the dog. The lake road was not super busy with cars in the morning in mid-May so it was a pleasant walk. I did pick up some ticks just in the yard so it’s important to be mindful and check for those. You are in the woods after all! We enjoyed some meals in Bar Harbor but also in some smaller towns. Copita in Northeast Harbor was my favorite restaurant. Schoodic was our favorite part of Acadia. Also enjoyed going to Penobscot Narrows Observatory and Fort Knox In Bucksport and had a fun last night meal at the close-by Lucerne Inn. All in all great cabin and great area (also so dog friendly! We were even able to take our dog on the nature cruise in Bar Harbor, which was wonderful.) Cabin was really a gem and owner very responsive.
