ACADIA NATIONAL PARK:
Acadia National Park: In 1913, President Woodrow Wilson set aside 6000 acres (within what is now Acadia National Park) as Sieur de Monts National Monument. With the acquisition of more land and private support and funding, in 1919 President Wilson signed an act establishing Lafayette National Park. In 1929 the parks name was changed to Acadia. Acadia National Park was established to protect the area's spectacular scenic values, Maine's rock bound coast, its coastal and its offshore islands as characterized by the geologic features, natural history and the native plant and animal life. Forty five miles of rustic carriage roads weave around the mountains and through the valleys of Acadia National Park, the gift of philanthropist John D Rockefeller, Jr., and family. Rockefeller, a skilled horseman, desired to travel on motor free byways via horse and carriage into the heart of Mount Desert Island. His efforts resulted in roads with sweeping vistas and close up views of the landscape.

Rising high above the town of Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain offers magnificent views of the Porcupine Islands and Frenchman Bay. Explore the summit of this granite mountain along a .3-mile trail, which includes wayside exhibits about natural and human history. Portions of this trail are accessible to wheelchair users. Cadillac Mountain is accessible via a winding, narrow, 3.5-mile road. The road is closed from December 1 through April 14 and whenever weather conditions (e.g., dense fog or ice) require.

Everything is as described. I've been visiting Maine on the coast since I was young. But this time, I wanted to try staying on a lake or in a cabin.
I don't recall if it was noted, but the house does have a privacy/security gate out to the road that is helpful if you have small children or want to keep your vehicles safe. The water on the lake is crystal clear where you can see fish just by looking down from the dock.
Basic paper needs are well-supplied as is the water cooler in the kitchen.
A convenient small grocery store is nearby with unexpectedly decent prices (G&M market?). It also has a pizza / sub shop inside along with a Dunkin Donuts if you don't want to make coffee at home. Even on an overcast day, the house and lake make for a great morning!
Bar Harbor and other coastal towns are an easy ride south. Traffic can be bothersome, but you have to expect that in the peak season.
The kayaks, canoe, and paddle boards were especially convenient and an added bonus. We used them to go to the islands in the middle of the lake and explore. Highly recommend doing that. Just pay attention to the signs indicating the nesting eagle habitat on one of the islands.
My only suggestion is to add some sort of ladder on the dock so that the less mobile might have an easier time getting out of the lake. The floating dock did have a ladder which was great!
Thanks again!

Wonderful stay in a well-kept ADK camp style home. Phillips lake is clean and clear. We were provided with a kayaks, canoe and paddle board and water safety gear. The screened front porch is a true treasure. Quiet neighborhood. Mutiple places on the property to sit and relax. Location allows for easy trips to Bangor and Bar Harbor. Very comfortable home for our family and dog. Highly recommend, one of the best rentals we have stayed in over the last 20 years.

It felt like this house was the perfectl setting for our family to make memories . We ate all our meals on the screened in porch, the nights were game night on the rug, little places inside and out to read! We swam in the very clean lake, and boated to small coves to explore…. or water ski in the big stretches. Look for the bald eagle nest. Easy trip to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Best hosts !!!

Update log cabin. Great location on the Lake. So many views, places to sit and gather, and relax.
Loved the added welcome amenities by the owner. Wonderful place for a peaceful getaway and lots of lake activities. Comforts of home, yet simplicity of cabin living. Would return!

We had a wonderful, relaxing and peaceful week. The screened in porch was the best for morning coffee, playing games or watching the kids swim! There was plenty of space for 2 teens and 4 adults. The sunsets on the lake are breathtakingly beautiful. Excellent communication with owner. Thank you for a great week

Location of the cabin worked well for traveling to Acadia national Park and Ellsworth 10 miles away. Had restaurants, and Walmart. Lake was very clear, good fishing from the dock and large Cove so for beginners at canoeing or kayaking this was ideal Even saw a fox early in the morning Great for birdwatching or painting a picture

Plenty of private sleeping space for 6. Very quaint log cabin decor. Photos accurate. Bonus upstairs screened in balcony shared by 2 bedrooms. Nice space to grab a quiet minute or read. Stayed in April. Early in the season to really get to enjoy the lake. Docks not installed yet. Easy ride to Arcadia and Bar Harbour which was a nice way to spend a day.

If you’ve seen the John Candy Movie The Great Outdoors and you wish to stay in a similar cabin, then you’ll fall in love with this place. There are very few cabins like this left to experience the up north feel and have the peace and tranquility that comes along with it. We had a blast playing games, fishing, boating, and exploring the area. We hope to come back soon.

The camp is fantastic. It’s a little bit modern and a little bit rustic. Very easy to get in and out of as the roads are paved leading up to it. The vintage look and feel is what Maine was all about in summers past, yet it has two bathrooms, laundry, a full kitchen and A/C. We spent one night on the large screened in porch watching as a thunderstorm passed over the lake. Close to Bangor and Acadia National Park, with a market and Dunkin Donuts less than 10 minutes down the road. The kayaks, canoe and paddle boards were a hit with the teenagers and the fire pit, with as much wood as you could burn, was amazing. Josh does it all when it comes to staying at his properties. I’ve rented for over 10 years in different places and him dropping off and picking up the boat is a huge timesaver. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the super clean lake and it’s surroundings. Thanks Josh

We spent a lovely July week at this lakeside log cabin home. The lake view was relaxing and beautiful, and we loved swimming and canoeing right out the back of the house. Started the day with coffee and a book on the dock. Ended the day paddle boarding at sunset. Our host Josh was very responsive to our questions and needs.

My family and I enjoyed our stay in the beautiful, historic log cabin. The cabin had many modern updates, with a number of personal touches from decor to a welcome package. The location was amazing - beautiful spring fed lake and gorgeous sunset views. The owner was very pleasant and professional to work with. It was easy to rent a high quality and reasonably priced boat from the owner as well. Conveniently located within a 1 hour drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia Park. My family and I felt very lucky to have found such a great vacation home! We highly recommend!

This was our family’s first visit to Maine and won’t be our last. We hit the jackpot with this perfect property and property owner. Josh was attentive from the beginning and so kind. He showed us how to operate the boat and gave many local food suggestions. The camp was clean and just as described! Thank you for the lovely stay!!!

Our high school senior wanted to do a campus visit at UMaine at Orono, so we decided to make a long weekend of it, and the Lodge at Lucerne was simply perfect for it! The location was great - it felt private and quiet but an easy drive to both the University and Acadia National Park. We really enjoyed dinner at the nearby Inn one night. The setting was gorgeous. We loved having morning coffee on the chairs on the dock while the teens slept in, and we all really enjoyed our evening fires in the fire pit. It was a little cool for swimming, but still perfect for the canoe, kayaks and paddleboards. We just loved the house, clean and great updates to make preparing meals easy, but just so cozy and comfortable and so much rusting charm! We spent a lot of time on the porch! I stumbled upon the Labyrinth game that I had as a child and showed the kids. My daughter became obsessed and played all weekend! We wish we could have stayed a few more days - this is our first VRBO experience and it has set the bar high! Highly recommend!

This house was perfect for a quiet extended weekend stay by the lake. Everything you could think of was provided. Josh was a great owner to work with and made every effort to ensure we had a great stay. The house itself is beautiful and has a ton of character. I especially enjoyed the log construction and the layout. The location is perfect as it's just a short drive to Bangor, Bar Harbor and Acadia. There were also plenty of activities at the house - swimming, kayaking, canoeing, etc. We were truly impressed by the house and setting and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get away.

A True Maine experience!!!! Our stay at the Lodge on Lucerne was everything I pictured a real Maine vacation would be. The log cabin was clean and cozy and smelled of pine and cedar, it was rustic Maine at its best. The 1928 log cabin was perfectly equipped with everything we needed. The property was private, extremely clean and the kids had a blast catching frogs and climbing on the big rocks that lined the shore line. Swimming was perfect the water is crystal clear and the swimming float has built in chairs and a table. The welcome basket was so thoughtful both the kids and adults enjoyed it. The Adirondack chairs that were placed out on the dock made for the perfect spot for coffee in the morning. A great plus is there was a great restaurant just down the road for when my wife and I didn’t feel like cooking. There was a small grocery store just 5 mins away that had everything we needed. It was close enough to Acadia National Park that we didn’t mind driving in a couple times during our week, but far enough away that we could escape the hustle and bustle of busy Bar Harbor. We highly recommend renting a boat from josh it truly made our vacation, being able to explore the lake and islands on the lake was priceless. We are definitely coming back next year!
