Lovely, comfortable house in a perfect location on a perfect pond. Swimming is phenomenal and the loon opera divine—5 loons this summer. We were 3 adults and had plenty of space indoors and out. Good sized deck, part of which is screened in for bug-free evenings. Accommodations include boats, water’s edge chairs & hammock, dock & float, ping-pong table. We didn’t try the TV, darts, ample video/board game options, or cornhole. Internet is reliable. 7-9 can easily sleep comfortably among the many beds and rooms. A real laundry room instead of a W/D stacked in a closet is a bonus. I’d suggest 4-6 adults max. At end August we saw maybe 4 other people on the water during our stay. All-girls Camp Walden is right across and in view, so quiet-seeking renters sans kids should bear that in mind if renting mid-summer. Our daughter did 6 summers as a camper and 2 as a water-ski/canoe counselor—we know and love this location.
Some of the equipment was less-than optimal condition, things like books and games were not stored in an orderly or neat way. We were end-of-summer and found the grill and oven really needed a deeper cleaning on arrival, the pots & pans, cooking utensils and such were quite disordered across the various cabinets. We often rent in Maine at end-August and this is not unusual, unfortunately.
Melissa is very responsive, really appreciated that. Very nice/friendly neighbors’ loud, extensive construction and excavation/tree removal did calm down by the end of the week.

We are a multigenerational family of 9 adults + a 3 year old. It was a pleasure to find this beautiful property as it can accommodate large groups of all ages very comfortably! All rooms are nicely furnished and freshly painted. The kitchen was large & well equipped. There is an awesome game room for rainy days & plenty of kayaks, canoe and a rowboat for outdoor fun. Water is easy to access too. The water & mountain views are breathtaking! Shops and restaurants are an easy 10-15 minute drive away. Communication with the host was always an immediate reply. We look forward to booking this property again in the future!

We loved our stay at this home. We found the place to be very quiet, off the beaten path and yet most of the things we wanted to do within an easy drive. Bridgeton is a fun town. Make sure you stop in to the Queens Head Pub for lunch or dinner. Excellent food. North Conway is always another fun place to be. 90 minute drive and we got to Mt Washington Cog Rail for the trip up the mountain. We saw plenty of our family, and found the layout of this home easily accomodated our group. Nice spot. Well taken care of...did i mention the lake? So nice. And the Loons called out often.

Lake was beautiful. Owners offered lots of options for being on the water- swim float, kayaks, canoe. We had plenary of room in the camp for our family or 4 and two sets of grandparents. Kitchen was updated and had everything you need. Close to North Conway for food and shopping on the rainy days.

After a decade and a half summer renting on Cape Cod, and even after last 2 years renting in Maine, the relaxation and tranquility of this place is something to admire. Beautiful and modern house and property, set on a crystal clear lake - and swimming, boating, kayaking, bicycling, marshmallows by the fire pit under stars, etc etc - we couldn’t wish for anything else! Truly hope to be back next year!!

We were lucky enough to stumble upon this property upon another's cancelation and we couldn't be more happy that we did. The house had plenty of space for my immediate family (wife and 2 kids) as well as a visitor or 2, and could have easily slept 2 families of 4. The amenities were perfect and even had a lobster pot to make up for the one I forgot. The camp offered plenty to do inside and especially out, from games and books to kayaks and a canoe. The camp was close enough to civilization that on our rain day we were able to go for a drive into the White Mountains of NH and my son and I got to play nine holes at Lake Kezar Country Club. We hope to be able to rent here again, if we are quick enough to get on a reservation in a timely fashion.

We loved our winter time stay at the Denmark, ME cabin. It was perfect for school vacation week only a short drive to Shawnee Peak which is great for the littles and not too far from bigger mountains like Sunday River. The cabin was great with amazing lake views and convenient for hiking and running. Melissa’s communication was perfect and the caretaker checked in on us a few times and provided any needed help.

Loved our time in Denmark. Property had everything we needed and Melissa was always available to answer any questions.
Spent a lot of time fishing and kayaking, and it often felt like it was our pond as so few people were in neighboring properties.
Spoke to a few neighbors, who were very friendly and offering to help if we needed anything.
And on our last full day a spectacular encounter with a beaver.

we have a family of 10, 3 generations. Melissa's place has 3 main bedrooms , 1 family room , & a small room (that is a cut thru to the outdoors & washing machine / dryer) that can be used for sleeping / privacy. this works perfectly for us in that : 2 couples take a bedroom (queen & full bed), my daughter & 2 grandsons take a bedroom (3 twins), my daughter & my 2 granddaughters take the family room (futon & bunk. bunk =full bed bottom bunk, twin bed upper bunk), & my youngest takes the small room (couch) as a "spot". there are 3 tvs (1 is in the "twin" room) we do not watch much tv , we do play video games. the tv was used mostly for games ( & tapping into the collection of looney toons cartoons) the kitchen is small but we had 3 different cooks working 3 different recipes & we did not step on each other or get in each others way. the kitchen has more than enough dinnerware & utensils. the dishwasher works 2x a day when we were all together. the main space has a cathedral ceiling that makes it feel so much bigger than it is. the screen porch off the dining area & deck was used by ALL OF US at 1 time or another.it was so comfortable having the breeze all around us but the bugs not in our face.not that there was a big bug problem outside, but some of us did get bit while outside.we had an outside fire most nights (with smores!)its nice that there is a picnic table near the fire pit. We did not use the grill more than once so i can not speak for that. being by the water each morning, listening to the loons (& seeing them, either from the cabin or while out paddling) was a HUGE TREAT for all of us. we used the floating dock for group swimming (& wrestling challenges) each day the weather perrmitted.the water is quiet most of the time (there are "camps" that use waldon pond. During our stay, noise from the "camps" affected us 1x).from waldon pond there is access to hancock pond (with portage if the water is low) 1 of us visited hancock pond 2x using the kayak. we stayed for 2 weeks.if not for financials & timing (having more vacation & no schedule conflict) we would stay for 3 weeks or more!mellisa is VERY responsive & a very caring person.we hope to stay at mellisa's place every summer we have!

My family and I had a great time on our first trip to Maine! When we were not out exploring my boys were out fishing or swimming in the beautiful pond/lake. They water was so clear and surprisingly warm! They caught lots of rather large fish and the provided kayaks and boat were so nice to have provided with our stay since our long drive did not allow us to bring our own. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare any meals and the screened in porch was so nice for morning coffee! We could have easily spent the whole week at the house but since it was our first trip to Maine, we tried to see all we could of such a beautiful state!!!

We stayed at this property at the end of August/beginning of September. Our family, 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 4), stayed for a week and my mother came and stayed for 4 nights. There was more than enough space for all of us, with rooms and beds to spare. The kitchen had all the utensils that we needed to prepare our our meals for the week. The owner notified us that the microwave was broken upon our arrival, it was quickly rectified with a new microwave delivered. Our kids enjoyed the DVD collection and some of the toys in the basement game-room.
As the listing indicates, this rental does have "all the comforts of home" while also being secluded and a bit rustic. The home is in the woods, surrounded by trees and nature. Loons sang us to sleep each night! You can see the houses on either side through the trees but it is not busy or crowded by any means. We saw a neighbor twice and maybe three boats total on the lake while we were there.
The water was a little chilly but it did not stop us from enjoying it to the fullest. We used the provided, canoe, kayak, and SUP board. My daughters enjoyed playing in the shallow water and we all got in and swam to the swim dock and had fun jumping off into the deeper water. As mentioned in the listing, the water is very clear. When we were out swimming near the swim dock we could see all the way down to our feet and you can easily see the bottom at the end of the dock (about 3 1/2 ft). My husband fished almost every day we were there. He switched to smaller hooks and spent an afternoon with our daughters letting them reel in fish after fish (catch and release). The girls were thrilled!
The location of the rental is close enough to the Portland area (just over an hour) that we were able to take two day trips to some coastal state parks. There are hiking opportunities very close to the rental as well. We were able to take our daughters on their first ever mountain summit hike on Bald Pate Mountain. The views are absolutely amazing!
Maine was on my mother's bucket list and it was also the first time visiting for our whole family. We are so grateful that our home state was one of those listed as exempt from quarantining so that we were able to see and experience the beautiful state of Maine. We will cherish the memories of our stay here at Walden Pond!

We had an amazing week. The weather was perfect and the home was beautiful. We had everything we needed and wanted at our fingertips. This property does not disappoint. The water was great for swimming. The grounds were perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view by the fire. Melissa was great, very responsive and on top of everything. We would highly recommend this property! We look forward to staying again.

Grammy rented this property to create a new family tradition for her grandchildren that resembled the 25 years of a lakefront rental with her children. The house was perfect for 6 active children under 10. Lots of swimming in a clear lake, lots of boating in canoe, kayaks, paddle board, pedal boat and row boat, and plenty of relaxing with movies and games and beautiful loons day and night. Marty the Moose added the rustic Maine note. This was Grammy's retirement gift to herself and she was happy that everyone was happy. Hope to return next summer and the summer after.

We went to this property for one week at the end of June and beginning of July and had such a fabulous time there. The cabin is clean and spacious and has every amenity we could possibly need. The setting is picture perfect, and the lake is ideal for children with its shallow edges and warm water. The variety of water craft provided hours of endless fun. We especially enjoyed the fire pit on the many lovely evenings, sitting by the fire and listening to the loons out on the lake. We had a couple of rainy days, but with the many games provided, the ping pong table, and cable TV, we were never bored. It was absolutely ideal!! We hope to rent the property again sometime soon.

Our family had a wonderful time in this beautiful location. The lake was so peaceful and tranquil - the loon calls were the only sounds we heard on a regular basis. We enjoyed exploring the lake in the canoe and paddle boat, swimming (the water temp was warmer than I expected), and fishing. The house is also very comfortable and well-equipped. Our children (8 and 3) loved playing in the fully finished basement with the many toys that were provided. We were looking for a relaxing family getaway and we found it. We can't wait to go back next year!

Our family loved their stay in Maine. The house was wonderful and the kids really enjoyed swimming and fishing. They all enjoyed the many toys in the basement as well as the toys they could play with in the water. It is close to attractions and we took the family on a riverboat ride which they all enjoyed. The home was clean and comfortable for everyone. Melissa was very easy to deal with and always responded quickly to any questions we had. We would recommend this home to anyone who would like a queit, relaxing vacation with or without the family.

Just returned from out week in Denmark, Maine. It was just what we were looking for... off the beaten path, quiet, close enough to great activities if we wanted them (which we didn't), small lake, big enough house to accomodate our multi-generational family, and lots of fish!! We had a great week re-connecting... with each other, with the woods, with the wildlife (we saw deer, eagles, loon) and with small town America (Bridgton is wonderful, and the people in Denmark rock!) I came prepared for warfare against the bugs in the deep woods of Maine, but was pleasantly surprised that we had no problem with mosquitoes, sat outside the whole time and only had to use bugspray once in the late evening.
We had car problems while we were there and everyone was so nice and helpful. We ended up getting towed to Stacey's Repair shop, great guy and wonderful service. Jimbob's had everything we needed. The gazebo hike was awesome, just beautiful!. Black Horse Tavern in Bridgton was fabulous, friendly staff and great food/drinks.
This was our first rental through Homeaway and I was a little nervous, but everything was just as it was described, spacious, clean, peaceful, and Melissa made sure that everything was in order and all our questions were answered. Everything went very smoothly. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Very peaceful setting on a quiet lake. We had a great week fishing, canoeing, swimming and exploring the area. The walk to the gazebo was just right with a spectacular view.
The cottage was well equipped and just as described, a true Maine getaway. There was plenty of room and very comfortable. The owners were very accommodating with a smooth transaction.
The Bridgton drive in is nearby as well as Naples with shops and restaurants. We took the Songo River Queen cruise to the lock which was a lot of fun and interesting.

We loved our stay at your vacation home - it comes supplied with everything you would ever need while on vacation, bikes, swings, rafts, fire pit, fully stocked kitchen. Two full baths and a wood stove certainly were a bonus! And plenty of sleeping spread out over three floors. The house is so close to attractions and the sun rise over the lake is just breathtaking! Thank you - your place really made our vacation! Warmest regards, The Guido's of Salem, MA

Beautiful location, beautiful home! We thoroughly enjoyed this peaceful retreat - from sunrise over the pond to the call of the loon in the evening. The cottage is just as described. It is roomy, clean, and comfortable. We spent sunny days exploring the pond - in the canoe and several kayaks that we rented locally. We also did some hiking locally and in nearby New Hampshire. We took a day trip into Portland and picked up lobster on the way back. We went to the wildlife park on a cloudy day and spent a rainy day at the cottage just reading, relaxing, and playing games. There are plenty of books, DVDs, and toys to keep the kids occupied as well. What a great vacation! (The owners are very helpful and responsive.)

What an AWESOME sunrise!! We loved the view, and the beds were really comforatble. Our kids loved the super-sound system attached to the flat screened TV and the video selection. The fireplace kept us warm and cozy and our children (6, 4 and 2.5) loved wandering around the yard and the dock. Hope to come back soon (winter) and do some skating on the lake!!

Our family was lucky enough to spend several days in this lovely home. We found it to be a wonderful experience. It was tastefully and completely furnished, fully equipped, and extremely clean and comfortable. We did not need to bring a single thing other than our personal belongings. It was all there, all the comforts of home. The setting was breathtaking overlooking the water with beautiful mountains as a back drop. We found it to be a peaceful, serene retreat away from the hustle and bustle of every day life, yet there is plenty to do if, and when, you want to, all within a very short distance. We are already planning our next visit to this delightful home and atmosphere and cannot wait for our next get away. Our special thanks to the owners for making their place feel like our own. We loved it!
