We had a really great time this week. Plenty of room for all 14 of us. The kitchen was well equipped and the pool was great. The location was outstanding, right on the bay and the sunsets were perfect.

Family Weekend
The reviews had me prepared for the condition of the home. It’s a beautiful property but don’t expect it to be in top shape. The padlock to enter is on the laundry room door on the 2nd floor so don’t expect to enter the front entrance. The doors are Anderson doors and are tricky to lock but maintenance was able to talk me through the process. At first walk through you will notice water stains on ceiling, stains on furniture and regular wear on carpet. Previous reviews mentioned these issues so I wasn’t surprised. There were lights that didn’t work in the kitchen which made cooking at night tricky. We had a surprise visit from maintenance to change a lightbulb and found it odd that there was no notice. Although the property needs care and updates, our stay was very enjoyable. I would stay in Sandbridge’s again but maybe at another property.

This place has potential. It's a beautiful property and great location. But all the reviews in regards to cleanness of the property and updates needed is correct. All the bed mattress are basically non existence. It's so old that we might have as well slept on the floor. PLUS almost all of us are experiencing itching and swelling. It looks like we might gotten bitten by something during our stay.

Lovely beach home but ...
BeautifulLy decorated beach home that needs some TLC. Dirty carpets throughout, some appliances do not work, two kitchens, but one is not stocked, the other has only a few basics. Entry doors are difficult to lock, black mold on main living room ceiling and master bedroom. All ceiling fans were covered in dust; counter light fixtures were filthy, one bulb was burnt out before we arrived; light in kitchen strobed; it was the wrong type of bulb. Dust beneath every bed in the house. Pool light doesn’t work. Concrete around pool is cracked and is a safety issue. We called emergency number to report doors that wouldn’t lock; no one called us back. A second call was made the next morning; maintenance showed up in the evening; showed us how to lock doors, indicated someone would be back to clean mold, replace bulbs and clean, but no one came by. We also reported a clogged kitchen sink, and was told they would need to send a Plummer the next day; a little disaster when you’re cooking for 14 adults and can’t use kitchen sink or dishwashers.

Sandbridge
This house was in a great location and met all of our needs, however the upkeep on the property is awful. There is mold throughout the house. Upon arrival, we had to clean the fridge because it was not clean. The showers in one of the bathrooms kept backing up.
This would be a very nice house if they took more pride in maintaining the property and cleaning it throughly. I would definitely go back to Sandbridge but will never stay in the house again

Beautiful Home
Only thing was me to do a better up keep on the lawn

Pros: The house itself and its beautiful siting on the bay are as described. The house layout and amenities are great for large groups, and the décor is as shown on this site, except for its poor condition. The pool is lovely and bigger than it looks in the photos. The depth ranges from around 30 inches to 5 feet.Cons: It seems the house has not been maintained other than routine cleaning. Right away, we noticed numerous maintenance issues, and every day, we discovered something else that was broken or dirty beyond a simple cleaning.Safety/security issues: no house numbers (mailbox missing); difficult or broken door locks; some warped decking with popped nails; a loose deck railing; and many, many burned out/missing light bulbs or broken light fixtures/lamps.Other maintenance issues: broken refrigerator door; sticky freezer door; broken oven door; filthy, broken gas grill; numerous pieces of broken furniture; severely stained carpet throughout; severely stained sectional set; no hot water in one bathroom sink; no cold water in another bathroom sink; missing or broken towel bars, hooks, toilet paper holders in many bathrooms; mold in a couple of showers. Some nitpicky wishes: Light blocking shades in the bedrooms; more glassware and silverware; bigger kitchen/dining table with more chairs (only seats 8), so we can share the same table at the same timeWe fixed the fridge door and popped nails ourselves and reported the other issues and then some to the management company. Since we didnt want workers traipsing through the house all week, we requested only that they fix the grill, which they replaced the same day.I would use the management company again, but I’m sure not I would pay the price I did for this particular home in its current state. The property needs a thorough inspection, many small repairs, and a deep cleaning. With a little more care, this property would be stellar.

Location, location, location
Let's start with the positive, because it is SUPER positive. The location of the house is outstanding. When in VA beach, we will ALWAYS stay in Sandbridge. Working with the management company was fantastic. Great communication and follow up.
The house is on the bay: kayaking, swimming, paddle boarding, fishing, sunsets. It has a great pool deck and family friendly pool. It is a very short walk to the practically private beach. It is not the best of both worlds, it is the best of ALL worlds.
The house itself is extremely spacious. The number of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, closets, living rooms, outdoor lounging areas, parking spaces - ideal. You can hang with the big group or you can find plenty of space to retreat. We loved this house and would absolutely book it again.
Constructive criticism. The reviews of this place were on point. It does need TLC, possibly more than TLC, more of a good once over in the maintenance department:
-kitchen lights do not work
-upstairs oven does not work
-outdoor speaker system does not work
-lower deck is in disrepair and is hazardous
-outdoor shower does not work
-gym equipment does not work
-pool railing at steps into the pool is loose
-home needs to be updated with coded locks
-a house manual would be very helpful with specific instructions for all electronics, lights, appliances, etc.
-an email letting you know what the house provides and what you should bring/acquire locally such as beach supplies, paper goods, cooking tools, would also be fantastic
LET ME SAY IT AGAIN - I would absolutely book this house for a future vacation. The items mentioned above were small nuisances and nothing more. They do not outweigh all of the overwhelmingly positive aspects of this rental. If the owner could address these issues, 5 stars would not be enough.

The property was very nice but it could have benefitted from better upkeep of the exterior bc there
The property exterior needed better upkeep -overall it could have super shined but it didn’t
I also hated the locks on the doors and having keys instead of electronic locks

A great space but needs some TLC...
This house is an incredible space and a wonderful value, but what's preventing it from being a 5-star rating is that it needs a bit of care. The house was "surface" clean, and the pool was immaculate. There were a ton of things included in the house like useful appliances, a margarita maker, coffee maker, multiple washer/dryers, etc. The location was ideal... about a 5 minute walk from the beach and right on top of Chesapeake Bay with your own dock. Everyone who stayed at the house enjoyed it thoroughly, but we all agreed it could have been a perfect experience if a few things were taken care of. The downstairs kitchen drain leaked, the workout room had a funky odor, the entire house could have used a new coat of paint inside (it wasn't in horrible condition, but being this is a highly-trafficked rental home, there are a ton of scuff marks from people before you). The carpets need to either be shampooed deeply or replaced. The area rugs are clean and in great condition. The hardwood is beautiful. The bathrooms were very clean, except one lower bathroom's shower liner had mold... a liner you can pick up in a dollar store--no reason to have that in a beautiful home with a Tommy Hilfiger exterior shower curtain. The A/V and TVs were often overly-complicated to use. The WiFi was horrible at first, but after resetting it by unplugging it and plugging it back in, it worked like a charm.
But even with all the little problems... the space was awesome and everyone had an amazing time. Kayaks were rented locally and they dropped off/picked them up from the house allowing hours of freedom on the Bay. The kids really enjoyed endless hours in the pool while we barbecued and cooked up some tasties in the large, well-equipped kitchen. The day I arrived I received a text alerting me that any questions/needs I had could be asked via text 7 days/week, from 9A-5P, which was a nice touch. I had a question and the response was immediate. I would recommend this place, as long as you are not expecting perfection.

Bayside Retreat Review
Pictures are deceiving. The location is terrific and we enjoyed sunset by the bay. However, the house needs repairs and the exterior is not well cleaned. The "exercise room" is used for storage and the equipment does not all work. Plan on bringing everything you might need as the owners do not supply anything (except one roll of toilet paper per bathroom). While the gas grill is new, the grill had not been prepared for use therefore unusable and we had to call for gas. The double sliding door in the living room does not work property and the detachable handle/lock is weird at best. The house was not totally prepared for guests so the first day was very frustrating.
