We stayed here for a quick 2 day trip for my mom's 77th. This cabin is cozy and located in a very quiet neighborhood. Check in was relatively easy with a numeric touch code on lock. I will have to say, this house is not easily accessible for anyone using a wheelchair. My sister had broken her leg 3 weeks prior. Thankfully, she was able to negotiate her knee scooter and lift to enter the home. Served our needs for a wonderful weekend away!

The overall cleanliness of the home was awful. After entering the home, the bottoms of my children’s feet were black. We made them keep their socks on because of how nasty the floors were. The kitchen floor was sticky upon arrival. The rugs throughout appeared to have not been vacuumed in a very long time. There was dog hair in the beds. The bathroom mirrors appeared to have not been cleaned. The inside of the oven looked as if it had never been cleaned. There was sticky cup/glass rings on bedside table. It’s a shame as a renter I paid the managements cleaning fee, as I am sure it will not be cleaned. Clearly the cleaning company did not sweep, mop, vacuum, or simple wipe downs of surfaces. The house itself needs minimal repairs but the overall functionality of the cabin was good. Very disappointed in this property due to the lack of properly being cleaned before our arrival.

Everything was as stated. Hot tub wasn’t working when we got there, but we didn’t even contact them and the man was there to fix it. I assume the last rental had already let them know. House was perfect for what we needed. Thanks!

The property was very nice! We hope to return! The only flaw was the hot tub. It was not working. The jets did not come on, the power light was blinking. We reset the breaker multiple times and the problem continued throughout our stay. We wanted to use it with the amazing view but didn't trust it.

House was great! You have everything you need for a relaxing stay. We will be back.

We loved this cabin. It is in a quiet neighborhood and is surrounded by beautiful trees and landscaping which helps make it feel secluded. Very spacious house with 2 floors and 2 bathrooms (very important if you bring a teenager). Foosball table upstairs, a hot tub on the porch make for lots of fun and relaxation. Close enough to Boone, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, and other beautiful natural areas. We loved our stay here and will definitely consider booking it again in the future.

Really sting mildew smell about 8 hours after a heavy rain, the only way to make it bearable was to open the windows and it was 74-78 degrees in the house. Not a pleasant vacation, left 4 days early !

Sweet Retreat is situated between Boone & Blowing Rock and was a perfect size for our family of 5. We enjoyed the starry sky in the hot tub & the wildlife.

We enjoyed our stay. Very easy instructions. Was a bit dark driving up Shores Way Road, but once you realize in the day time where you are at it's easy driving back to Rt 105. Very clean cabin. Didn't get to use hot tub but it was in good shape. View is nice for Low end of mountains. Very close to everything. Overall it was a nice relaxing two days away from everything.

As Floridians, our kids have been begging us to see snow for a few years now, and we decided very last-minute to head to NC in hopes of seeing snow over the holiday break. This cabin was a great setup for our family of 5 and our family dog, and we were blessed to get snow every day we were there! We were delighted to find sleds at the house, and the kids had the best time sledding a couple of the days that the ground was covered in snow. We also enjoyed the fireplace and hot tub every day! It was nice and cozy and had plenty of room for all of us. I was a little concerned about having an open bedroom in the loft, but it all worked out fine! I was also thinking from the pictures that it might feel too close to other cabins around it, but we felt we still had plenty of privacy, and it was a peaceful neighborhood and a beautiful view! It met all our needs, and we wish we could have stayed longer!

Let’s start by correcting the posting...the cabin is NOT elegantly decorated. Yes, it’s very cute but not elegant. The location is great, but the house needs a lot of TLC. To say the kitchen is well stocked would be to give it a huge compliment. The chair in the living room was broken and several of the blankets have holes. Certainly we didn’t let these minor things stop us from having a wonderful weekend, but sadly I can’t say I would recommend or return to this property.

Sweet Retreat
We loved the cabin location, view, accessibility to area slopes and the overall feel of the cabin. However, there are a few things that could make for an even better experience. We got locked out our first night. Please include in the key box on the deck a spare key to the door by the hot tub and also one to the storm door out front. Also, the cabin and furniture have a very strong smoke smell (we never even used the fireplace). Please fumigate periodically and have furniture cleaned. The stove needs a lightbulb below the microwave. Some of the blinds didn't have a rod to open the blinds. We had a great time and would stay again.

Overall - a pleasant stay
Sweet Retreat and the surrounding area was basic and adequate for seven of us plus one dog.
Thank goodness we were forewarned about the kitchen being minimally stocked because when we arrived, we found a very random assortment of glassware, silverware, pots and pans - nothing matched and there were no complete sets of anything. Since the cabin listing says it accommodates up to seven people, the kitchen should at least have 7 of everything. Ironically, we were there for Thanksgiving week and did not even have 7 forks and knives to eat with nor did we have seven glasses to drink out of. We had to borrow a few from the people renting the cabin next door.
The customer service was extremely responsive and we are grateful for that. No matter what time of day we sent an email or message, we always got a prompt response.
I did have to speak to Clarence regarding an email we received about the appliances in the kitchen.
Apparently a "standard" email was sent to all renters staying over Thanksgiving. The intention of the email was to assure all renters that the appliances were all in working order and ok to prepare a Thanksgiving meal. While the intention was a good one -- to reassure us we would be able to prepare dinner -- I suggest rewording that email. It said something to the effect of, "the appliances "SHOULD" work while you are there." Those two words "Should work" actually caused me quite a bit of distress knowing I was coming to spend Thanksgiving week with my family. Maybe even consider NOT sending that email out AT all. When I rent any other homes in VRBO or AIRBNB, it is assumed EVERYTHING in the listing will be in working order, so I am not convinced that email was even necessary. My biggest gripe is when I called to discuss and receive confirmation about whether the appliances DID WORK or not, Clarence was incredibly RUDE and INDIGNANT. His words, "For many of our homeowners, this is a second home and a hardship for them to keep the home. They have difficulty maintaining this home and they really need your money to keep this home." Clarence was wanting me to have empathy for the homeowner - and yet - I WAS THE ONE PAYING MONEY to rent the home. How about telling the HOMEOWNER "These people are spending a LOT of money to stay in your home and expecting everything on the listing and nothing but the highest of standards, so you must make sure everything listed on the website is there and working when they arrive." Clarence's attitude and negation of my concerns is the ONE reason why I will NOT return to Carolina Cabin Rentals NOR will I recommend it. All of this was compounded by the fact that we received the letter about the appliances "should be working" AFTER Carolina Cabin Rentals already took our non-refundable payment. That felt like 'bait and switch' BIG time.
Thank you for the VERY CLEAN bedsheets - we took note of that and could smell the bleach; however, the bed SPREADS, throw pillows and other linens were filthy. We also found extra blankets just thrown on the floor of one of the bedroom closets - not folded - just bunched up on top of what I think was a 'pack and play' for a small child. Even that was just in pieces and thrown on the floor of the closet and I did not deal with it. We were not convinced the pile of blankets were laundered so - we took ALL of the bedspreads and extra throw (decorative) pillows OFF the beds, washed ALL the blankets ourselves and remade the beds. On this note, it seems the housekeepers do a quick dust and vacuum of the cabin but SWEET RETREAT is in desperate need of a DEEP cleaning. When we retrieved our dog's ball from under the sofa, we were met with a LOT of dust and filth. This was the same situation under ALL the furniture. Everything needs to be moved and the entire cabin needs to be wiped down and SERIOUSLY cleaned from top to bottom. The windows were filthy so, while the view is pretty, the windows don't seem to have ever been washed - also - screens missing or have holes - so keeping all the windows open for fresh air was not an option. Also, the carpets need a shampoo. My husband noticed this the most after about an hour of simply sitting on the sofa with his feet on the ground, the bottoms of his socks were BLACK from rubbing on the rug. Housekeeping ALSO needs to CLEAN the grills occasionally. We wanted to grill hamburgers one night but the grill was so gross we cooked them inside instead. I could go on and on - suffice it to say - someone just needs to go in and do a DEEP CLEANING of the ENTIRE place once in a while. There was also garbage strewn in the bushes off the deck. We saw a coffee mug down there that must have been dropped by a previous tenant but we could not reach it. Someone should be checking inside and out.
We also rent our own home out on AirBnB and VRBO. We have a complete photo inventory of the contents and when our housekeepers go in to do a move-out cleaning, they count and check everything. If anything is missing, it comes out of the renter's security deposit. When renters know an inventory exists, they are very accepting of it. Since SWEET RETREAT is so small, this would be very easy to do. I suggest that.
Overall a very basic and adequate place to stay for the seven of us but in the future we will look for something with higher standards for cleanliness and amenities to accommodate all seven of us without having to borrow from neighbors.
Someone tell Clarence to lighten up and teach him how to provide better customer service. He was rude and awful. ALL THE OTHER customer service reps who either answered the phone or an email were WONDERFUL.

Overall the cabin was great it was the management that started out bumpy when we arrived the cabin was not ready although we paid for early check in and it took a while for the management to call us back and then when we finally could get in the code would not work two times and we were stuck out in the rain waiting for a phone call and for them to fix it and then when we wanted to start a fire we could not find a lighter anywhere and they said they would bring one but they took about five hours to bring it and then they left it on the porch and didn't tell us so after that everything was great it was just a bumpy start . The Cabin was fairly clean there were some lightbulbs out under the stove and in the bedrooms so we just moved lightbulbs around to make it work the couch smells like dog unfortunately and I am not an animal person so it could be that I'm just sensitive because of that but it definitely had a dog smell to it and it says pets are allowed so maybe that's expected. Hot tub was great, cabin is beautiful and homey. Recliner is broken so I would let the owners know that So they can replace. The owners have taken great care to make it comfy. We will be back.

Beautiful home in natural setting
The house was so nicely put together and very clean and ready when we got there. Lots of places to walk around the neighborhood and very close to Boone for taking time to go out. We just spent most of our time on the covered porch playing games, it was lovely!

This is a really nice cabin in a great location. Couple of things could make it better--
1. add an additional table lamp in the living area--the overhead light is harsh and there is currently only one table lamp.
2. Replace the recliner in the living room, it is not in good condition and is uncomfortable to sit in.
3.There are ants in the kitchen.

Very clean, comfortable & cozy cabin! Perfect for a relaxing getaway. The beds were comfy & really liked having a King bed since we're accustomed to a king at home. Really enjoyed the porch w/hot tub & wrap around deck where our puppy could play. We extended our stay another day & still were not ready to leave!! Would def go back.

Everything about the cabin was awesome. I just have a respectful suggestion. The cabin lacked bare essentials, like laundry soap, cooking oil, sugar and extra paper towels or toilet paper. There were only two garbage bags and two dish washer pods, which was not enough. You do such an amazing job with everything else, penny pinching on little things like this takes away from the experience and will likely cost you a star or two in ratings as was the case with me. Fix that and it's literally a five star experience. Thanks so much for having us at your beautiful cabin.

Friendly cabin in a beautiful neighborhood near both Blowing Rock and Boone
Great location , great neighborhood 10-15 from most things. Property manager replied quickly when complained about yard trash and lawn being about 3 feet high. They came two days later to mow. Not that I care about yards when I rent but the neighbors did and they even came over to trim around fire pit so we could enjoy. The y’all grass made everyone also look bad in such a beautiful neighborhood. All in all it was a very nice trip and great family time!

Awesome retreat
The experience was amazing. My girlfriend and I were able to enjoy the amazing views from the wrap around porch as well as the hot tube. Games came included so there was no hassle in making any up. Overalls great place, great experience, and would gladly revisit.

Family vacation
We rent often in the area and this stay was a little disappointing. The management company were great to work with and in general the house was ok. One thing to note when reserving this property is that it is NOT 3 Bedrooms. It is 2 bedrooms with a large loft. For some this may not be a big deal but for our family having a door and walls so that those who want to stay up later than the others or wake earlier than others do not have to worry about noise levels for those in a "loft." We made it work but I wish we had read the details in the write up instead of just the main details where it said it was 3 bedrooms.
The kitchen was lacking. We are a family of 5 and we couldn't get through more than a meal without having to wash silverware. Usually at home we would load a dishwasher but we'd have enough utensils to get through two meals, but not here. It would behoove the owner to add some utensils. The skillets are no longer non-stick and the coating was coming off with our scrambled eggs.
Otherwise the place was well stocked, the view decent and the home sufficient.

Family Graduation Celebration!
Sweet Retreat was the perfect center of our multi-generational family graduation celebration. Our App State Grad had a warm and cozy place for friends and family to gather over the busy weekend and the cabin met all the needs of our three generation celebration. Loved the location and all the thoughtful touches.

Perfect location!
We had not visited Boone before so weren’t sure where to stay. This location was absolutely perfect. Just 15 minutes to downtown Boone where we enjoyed walking around, dinner out and a grocery store. 20 minutes the other direction to downtown Blowing Rock with more dining and shopping and also “The Blowing Rock”; Tweetsie Railroad and more. It was also very convenient to the Creeper Trail (about 50 minutes) which is what sparked our trip to the area. The cabin itself was great and very clean; plenty of room for our family of 4 plus dogs. The covered porch and hot tub is where we spent most of our time when not out exploring. Oh, that reminds me; it’s also super close the blue ridge parkway which has great trails along it. Highly suggest Hebron Falls which is only about 15 minutes from the cabin; a nice 5 mile, easy/moderate hike. We’ll be back I’m sure!

Love our stay at the cabin. The view was wonderful and amenities were excellent. We had fun time grilling, enjoying the weather and the hot tub. Everything that we need for a relaxing vacation was provided for. The bathrooms were a bit smaller than we thought but it's not a deal breaker. The queen bed was a bit lumpy so could be a bit uncomfortable if you sleep on your side. Again, not a deal breaker. Other than this minor thing, it was a wonderful beautiful experience. We appreciate the convenience, accessibility and closeness to everything.
