About this house rental
Step onto the sand from the large ocean-facing deck of this 3 bedroom, 2 bath family beachhouse. Located just 10 miles south of Santa Barbara, CA in the popular resort community of Carpinteria, this house sits on the 'World's Safest Beach' sheltered by the beautiful Santa Barbara Channel Islands. Looking out the back, one views the Salt Marsh Reserve with its 230 acres of bird and water wildlife with the backdrop of the Santa Ynez Mountains. The beach offers long walks, warm sand, beautiful sunsets, swimming, sandcastle building, surfing, fishing, and views of the seal rookery and dolphins playing in the surf.
As you enter the beachhouse, you first see a utility room with a washer, dryer and refrigerator/freezer along with additional counter space. Turning right is the kitchen with refrigerator/freezer, gas stove, and oven, microwave, double sink with disposal and cupboards and drawers to spare. As dishwashing is a family event for the owners, they intentionally do not have a dishwasher! Passing beyond the kitchen is the family room that combines a living and dining room. It includes a large flatscreen television, wireless internet, couch, chairs and a dining table. Cabinets house games, puzzles and more! The bedroom to the left runs almost the width of the house with a dresser, clothes closet, 3 twin/day beds and one trundle bed. 3 large windows offer ample views of the beach. At the end of this room is Bathroom #2 which includes tub, shower, sink and toilet. Passing back through the living room to the other side, between both bedrooms is bathroom #1 which has all the amenities with a shower only. Bedroom #1 on the beachside has a queen size bed, dresser, and closet. Bedroom #2 on the other side is similar. All windows are double-pane, but most guests prefer to sleep to the sound of the gently rolling surf. At last, as you return to the family room to look out the large sliding glass door to the beach, the ocean and the Channel Islands in the distance. Stepping outside on the large covered deck to the left you see a round patio table perfect for cards or dominos. To the right are two picnic tables end to end capable of seating 8 each. Beyond that is a gas BBQ and a charcoal BBQ for your convenience. Four steps from the deck and you stand on the beach with a permanent lifeguard tower to your right. They also rent kayaks and other water sport equipment during the summer. This beachhouse really is the only place where you can sit on your deck with immediate access to the beach and watch your children safely play in the surf. A public beachcam is located on top of the lifeguard tower. www.video-monitoring.com/beachcams/carpinteria/
The town of Carpinteria, founded in 1863, is noted for its friendliness, small town charm and the agricultural production of avocados, lemons, and flowers. This community is dedicated to preserving the coast at it recently purchased the coastal bluffs just southeast of town which will be kept as they are with a hiking and biking trail along the coast. The downtown area is within an easy walking distance from the beach and offers a variety of antique, clothing, and specialty shops. Carpinteria is fast becoming a mecca for the fine arts representing music, dance, paint, sculpture, and theater. Don't miss Carpinteria's latest addition, the Art Center, with revisions planned thanks to the generous donations of our citizens. Carpinteria's local theater has revised its name to reclaim the original name, The Alcazar. They host concerts, movies, original plays, fundraisers, and talent shows. More recently, restaurants have found a home here, representing cuisine from all corners of the earth. They bring foodies and critics to sample their fine dining. World famous beer and wine have also located to Carpinteria via breweries like Island Brewing Company, wineries, pubs and tasting rooms. Points of interest include the historical museum, the world's largest Torrey Pine tree, the Carpinteria Tar Pits where the Chumash built their canoes and the famous 'cook your own steak' Palms restaurant. World famous surfing at Rincon Point is located only 5 minutes away by car. 5 minutes in the opposite direction on a beautiful sunny afternoon will have you enjoying your refreshments while watching world-class polo ponies at Santa Barbara Polo Club which is open to the public. Kayaks and surfboards can be rented next door and launched with a short walk across the sand to the ocean. Nearby Santa Barbara offers world-class shopping, entertainment, National historical sites, educational forums, and sporting venues like tennis and golf. A wide array of charter boats are available for deep sea fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, tours, a day trip to the Santa Barbara Channel Islands or a dinner cruise up the coastline. The location cannot be beat. The porch was perfect for family dinners and sunsets as well as offering reprieve from the sun. The house is very beachy and charming, and you can tell lots of great memories have been made there. Would definitely return!

Would like to see a new couch and some instructions for the tv. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay at the beach house. Glad we have reservations for next year

Right on the sand! It really can’t get much better than this place! The home is ideal for families of all ages; it is clean, comfortable with a great kitchen for prepping meals.
Management operates smoothly and all communications are clear.
If we are lucky, we hope to come back next year!!

It was a three night stay at Carpinteria and it couldn't have been better. Weather superb for January and stepping from house straight onto sand was key to a brilliant stay. 5 stars!!!!!

Our family had an amazing time in Carpinteria!
The location is perfect! While sitting on the patio deck, we watched the dolphins swim in the waves and the sunset daily. The BEST beach house I’ve ever stayed at!

We had an absolutely amazing time at this house right on the sand. Couldn’t beat the location and the views from the back porch. Was so great being able to let the girls play right in the sand but could quickly go in for bathroom or snack breaks. Definitely want to make this an annual trip now. A perfect little gem!

Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect location. The house was fully equipped with everything you need including beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. The only negative was that we pulled dirty dishes out of the cupboards as well as a couple dirty towels. However, this would not prevent us from staying here again.

This cozy house right on the sand is a treasure. The sunsets are spectacular. There is so much sea life to explore on walks or marvel at from the deck. The house has everything you need to never leave but we also love walking or riding to town to one of the many great little spots for dining. A magical, relaxing getaway.

There is so much to like about this place. So clean, spacious and you can't get any closer to the beach! Despite the June gloom we experienced, the 60-70 degree temperatures still made playing on the beach and in the water a memorable time for us and our kids. Oh, and the view from the back deck, the clean sea-weed free beach, and watching for occasional dolphins and sea otters swimming by wasn't bad either. Thanks!

Older, charming beach house that is on the beach! Very comfortable, has all you need and is a perfect spot!

First want to say that the place itself is beautiful, fantastic location (usually), and the house is very well appointed. Be aware that in the winter months there is a tall sand berm constructed to protect the houses which are very near the shoreline and could be damaged during winter storms. During that time the ocean view is completely blocked from the back patio. We were aware that this might be the case, having carefully read the reviews, so while disappointing we were prepared for it. We were NOT prepared for the following, however. When we arrived at the house, we were blocked off by a construction crew working on the street that accessed the driveway. We were initially told we could not get through but they did end up moving some equipment and allowing us to drive two of the cars into the driveway; the had to park a ways down the street. Immediately adjacent to the house, the crew was working to move rocks and sand in order to extend the berm in the other direction. There were dump trucks, bulldozers, tractors, etc. and the crew worked the entire weekend from dawn to dusk. The house shook, there was constant noise -- impossible to sleep after they started early morning -- diesel fumes, and we were unable to enjoy the back porch that had sold us on the house. Soon after we arrived the host came over, explained the construction would be going on all weekend, and apologized. We understood the situation was outside of the host's control, but don't understand the problem having been passed along to us with no prior warning and no offer of recompense. We all felt we should have been notified in advance (even that morning) and given the opportunity to cancel and make other arrangements if we wished, or in the very least have been offered a discount. We paid a lot of money to enjoy the house and to relax, and instead spent much of our time trying to find other things to do because it was so extremely noisy and unpleasant. Again, not the owners fault for the situation but other than a verbal apology there was no attempt to compensate us. All five of us travel quite a bit and are easygoing about things going wrong. We all felt the owner should have been more conscientious about the situation and that we were not treated fairly as customers. Too bad because the house in normal circumstances would be quite wonderful.

House was beautiful. Friendly neighborhood. Everything was great property was very accommodating and had everything you need. The only thing I would have liked it’s a little more cleanliness. Kitchen rags were not washed and certain areas of the house were not cleaned. Thank you so much.

Granted the seasonal berm is a bit of an inconvenience but you can still sit on the deck and hear the ocean. There was a bit of a mix up on check-in info which the property owner corrected promptly. The location cannot be beat. Walking to all the shops and restaurants. Beach was awesome. Saw dolphins one morning. Walked the whole beach & saw seals at the far end as week. House was bigger than expected - there were only 4 of us and we could have easily had another couple stay. Fantastic place!

What could be better than a house on the sand with a beautiful view of the ocean, in a charming, unspoiled California beach town? We saw dolphins, pelicans and shorebirds and magnificent sunrises and sunsets. The house has been updated with new floors, paint and linens. We’ll be back next year!

Our family of four had an amazing week at this property. You literally walk out the back door and are standing in the sand with the ocean in front of you. One of our favorite beach houses we have ever rented. We will definitely be back.

Fabulous family time
What a great time we had in the blue house by the ocean. Every morning waking up and bringing our chair a few feet from the water to listen to the waves and feel the morning sun. Nothing else better!

Absolutely love our stays at Giac’s beautiful beach house. Very clean and comfortable. Lovely shaded porch. So easy to walk into town. To be right there on the beach to enjoy the sound of the gentle waves and the gorgeous sunsets is pure serenity for the soul. Can’t wait to come back. 🌊😎

I got there right at 3:00, check in time. The housekeeper was still there and had about 45 minutes of work left. This ended up being one of the “by the ways” (the house keeper may not be done) in the check in instructions. Since we are paying to rent beginning 3:00 things should be ready.
We were very surprised that the sheets were not on the beds and there were no laundry pods for the washer. It was said there would be some.
Since there is not a dish washer we found that there were a lot of unclean dishes. Not everyone washes properly.
The house was very beachy and comfortable.

Overall, the property and house were fine. Wish we had been informed that there was going to be a manmade sand berm blocking our view the entire time.

House is exactly as listed, couldn’t be any closer to the beach! We slept so close to the waves that I almost was afraid that we were going to get splashed! Sunset was magnificent all three nights!

This was our second time staying at Giac’s, a piece of Heaven on the sand. This cozy home is welcoming and peaceful. Sand and waves just beyond the back door. Already looking forward to returning to this very special place in our favorite beach town.

The property location is as good as you going to get in Carpinteria. Its just a few blocks away from the Main Street. its not per se walking distance for older folks but literally a couple minutes away by car to go a local restaurant or visit some shops.
The house itself is a bit dated but all the necessities are there. The house is adequately appointed enough beds and bathrooms. It has that family vibe going versus being a party house per se. My kids enjoyed their outdoor time a lot away from their electronics much to my delight.
Kindly note that there are sandburs (man-made sand dunes) during winter time that somewhat blocks the view. This is normal with beach towns to protect beach front houses from winter storm surges. I expected this and we are not dissapointed at all. As the cliche goes, when life throws you lemons, you make lemonades. The sandburs become my kids favorite place to practice their sand surfing styles. Water was cold anyways to be swimming. They even made new friends with kids playing on the sandburs.
With regards to the view, once you get past the sandburs, the view was relaxing as to be expected. We were blessed with clear sunny skies during the day, with low tides and mild winds. We also had moon less skies during the nites we stayed. This allowed us to enjoy the thousand of stars/constellations to gaze on.
Overall the place was awesome. My wife and I, along with my kids, are looking forward to our next stay there again.
Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to enjoy your home.
